Just finished this. What did you think of Jessica Jones, /co/? Noticed not a lot of people are talking about it anymore. I thought it was really good.
>>
>>78092155
It had 6, maybe 7 episodes' worth of plot that it tried to stretch out into 13 episodes.
>>
>>78092155
>Noticed not a lot of people are talking about it anymore.
We all talked about it last month.

General consensus was good but not as good as Daredevil.

Purple Man and Nuke were great, Jessica had her moments, and Luke should have been left out or served a more interesting function in the story besides "excuse for interracial porn scenes".
>>
Not as good as Daredevil, but by far not the worst thing to come out of the MCU.
>>
-pacing was terrible
-fights were awful
-simpson arc was pointless
-letting him escape more than once
-very little noir feeling to it

it was very AFTER 5 YEARS ON A HELLISH ISLAND
>>
The same thing happened with Daredevil. Constant discussion threads the first week or two of release then everyone's done talking about it and moves on with their life.
>>
>>78092261
Unfortunately one of the big downsides to the Netflix approach to releasing content.

It all gets dumped at once, everyone binge watches it to avoid getting spoiled, and the conversation dries up

It's not like Flash or Arrow where you get an episode and then a whole week of fan reactions and speculation and hype for the next one.
>>
I liked it slightly more than Daredevil.

It did have it's problems, primarily being Nuke (who came out of nowhere, and really felt out of place) and the plot changing directions too often. Got a little messy.

Kilgrave was fucking amazing, in both acting and writing. So was Hogarth.

>>78092175
So did Daredevil.
>>
Best moment in the series was definitely:

>I want you to know, I forgive you for everything. I'll say it every day for as long as you need to hear it.
>You heard that?
>I wrote it.
>>
>>78092155
>Noticed not a lot of people are talking about it anymore

Cause it's easily forgettable.
>>
>>78092401
Agreed. Far better than the "I love you." fake out in the finale.
>>
I wish they kept up the crime fighting with Kilgrave plot for longer. I'd watch an entire series with that dynamic.
>>
>>78092340
It's only really bad for communities like /co/. It's good as a viewer since plot points stay fresh in your mind and you don't have to deal with the suspense of what happens next longer than you want to.
>>

I liked it slightly more than Daredevil, but it was still shit, just like DD. Different set of problems but about as uninteresting in the end. Only reason to even bother watching the show is Tennant, who is pretty good for most of it until he just becomes a bit of a parody of himself.
>>
>>78092401
That was pretty solid.

I enjoyed the show overall. I wish Luke would have had more to do other than give Jessica the deep dicking and be a walking angsty plot device.

Also, I know Jessica was usually fighting normal people or trying to tiptoe around Purple Man, but I hated how every fight was basically "pick someone up and throw them as hard as I can, then walk over and do it again till I win"

I mean I know she's not Daredevil-tier martial arts master but fuck me that shit got old. The Jessica vs mind controlled Luke Cage fight was the only one that was really enjoyable to watch.

Jessica and hulked out Trish vs Nuke was also alright. If anything I'm excited for season 2 to see more Nuke and possibly more people that are more of a physical threat to Jessica than a mental one
>>
>>78092506
I just hate not being able to discuss shows with co workers or friends. I have a lot of downtime at my job so I binge watch the shit out of new series all the time, but it takes some people longer to watch an instantly streaming show than if it was airing on cable.
>>
>>78092571
Fight scenes were definitely not the series strong suit.

Did DD have some martial arts expert on staff for the choreography?
>>
>>78092155
Awful, but it's got that Disney brand so /co/ at large eats it up.
>>
>>78092155
The main story content was probably about 7 episodes worth and was heavily stretched out. The filler material was pretty interesting (Luke Cage and his powers, Simpson and his past) but rushed and then swept under the rug. The end was ridiculously boring and could have occured at pretty much any other point in the series if Jessica had actually been good at planning things. The best thing about the show was Tennant and his character end was fucking awful.
>>
>>78092641
>if Jessica had actually been good at planning things
Jessica being a fuck-up is a major plot point.
>>
>>78092155

It was barely above average. Of the 13 hours it got, maybe 5 hours of it was dedicated to the plot. The rest of it was stupid, especially the Hargath lesbian divorce sub plot that went nowhere.
>>
>>78092687
>The rest of it was stupid, especially the Hargath lesbian divorce sub plot that went nowhere.
It led to Hogarth trying to use Kilgrave on her ex. I'm pretty sure the point of her character was to show that there are lots of people who are just as monstrous as Kilgrave, and the only thing that makes him different is his powers.
>>
>>78092687

It did lead somewhere, but the payoff was not worth all the time wasted on reminding us what a cunt both she and her soon to be ex-wife were to each other.
>>
>>78092593
The stunt team was well trained and experienced. They even taught Charlie Cox a unique fighting style to use in the show as Daredevil.
>>
it was good. not as good as DD. The 1st 6 or so episodes felt unimportant
>>
>>78092155
It was great at setting tense and creepy atmospheres and it had some fantastic performances and moments but ultimately it was bogged down by the side plots and the general stupidity of the characters. It also became very tedious.

5.5/10 only worth watching Tennant's acting and Ritter's ass.
>>
>>78092718

Pretty much what this guy said: >>78092748

It was given a lot of time and the pay off was one scene with the ex wife dying with her head smashed against the table after being shoved, such a lazily written cliche.
>>
>>78092687
>went nowhere

wut. It's a major subplot through several episodes and it did go somewhere. Showed that Hogarth is a complete piece of shit too thinking that she could ever have taken Killgrave's help and had it end well and it ends with her personal life and possibly her career in ruins. I thought the payoff was pretty good
>>
>>78092775

The fact that it's a major sub plot is what made it stupid. And really? It didn't impact the show all that much, her gf got arrested and threatened to dump her, snitching ex is dead, seems like her problems got solved anyway.
>>
>>78092828
I don't see the problem. It was an interesting conflict with well-developed characters.
>>
>>78092155
Hottest actress from comic shows by far.
>>
JessiCAAA
>>
Nuke was more right than Cyclops and Captain America combined.
>>
Watched it. Enjoyed it. Rewatched Daredevil and realized JJ is a massive step down in literally every aspect.
>>
>>78092155

I liked it, can't put my finger on why...

Nah it was good, but it got repetitive, either should have been 7 episodes instead or they should have put some cases besides Kilgrave in there.

>>
>>78092155
decent with Kilgrave, Simpson, and Luke Cage being strong points, but the main character is such a a dumb, annoying cunt I doubt i'll ever be able to rewatch.

Yes, I know Jessica murdering Kilgrave when they first kidnap him (ep 3 or 4?) would make the series much shorter and less interesting, but as things progressed I was rooting for Simpson to kill Jessica and get it done himself. Writers fucked up there but there's no suspension of disbelief when you let the guy who can walk up to obama and get him to push the nuke button keep getting away to save some prison bitch who had to kill herself to push jessica to do what she's now doing 10 episodes late
>>
>>78092203
general consensus was shit.
>>
I don't understand why people like Luke Cage in this. His whole character is MUH DEAD WIFE.
>>
>>78093789
The point is she tried to be a hero and do what's right. Lots of people died from it and it didn't work for anyone. It would be stupid if she never tried.

7/10.
I liked nearly all of the characters consistently, Jessica, Luke, Killgrave, Nuke, Trish, Lesbians and her neighbor were all pretty great. The girl who lived upstairs got old fast but for a 12 episode series usually you end up hating several people, but everyone was actually enjoyable to watch.

Killgrave was a great villain, just that Jessicas justification for not killing him completely solving itself was lame and there was too many moments where you thought 'just fucking kill him and this would all be over'

My only other major complaint is how absolutely terrible the fight scenes were, holy shit. I have never seen fights so bad in a TV show in fucking years and I've been watching Arrow. How on earth did that shit actually get put onto Netflix, really?
>>
>>78093806

I thought he was boring as fuck tbqh
>>
Why was there so much Rugby in this show? I get that Kilgrave liked the sport but Luke got attacked by a club (Made up of tiny dudes that wold snap in half if they actually played). Seems strange they wouldn't just got for "Brit likes Soccer"

I liked it like that. Jessica and Luke are not trained to fight, they are just strong and punch and stomp and swing things around. I would have liked more out of Nuke, and Patsy.
>>
>>78094002
I don't think that's what they meant. Obviously no one is expecting Jessica or Luke to be Kung Fury, but the fight scenes were just poorly shot.
>>
>>78093870
There was even more people peeing and pooping their pants. Hope, Jessica, Walter, the guy from the club...
>>
>>78092155
What if we had a netflix series surrounding killgrave trying to hero?

Think it could work /co/?

Absolutely.

>>
>>78092677
I'm kinda surprised they kept that up all the way. She never really overcame anything, even her managing to kill kilgrave is due to her unexplained immunity.

This.

Purple Man getting away in almost every episode annoyed the fuck out of me.

>Nuke
>Victim group meetings
>wacky neighbors
>lesbian lawyer shit

All of this contributed little to the overall narrative or overstayed its welcome.

I didn't hate it, but I didn't like it either. Maybe I just wanted it closer to the premise of Alias, what with her just being a PI in the 616 with a history, and I get why Purple Man defined the season so much, but eh.

I honestly don't understand how anyone could like it more than Daredevil when that show did everything far better including acting, a much tighter focus and having fight scenes that, you know, weren't boring as fuck.
>>
>>78094766
Let's be fair - She had to genuinely trick him twice in a row to do that even then.
>>
>>78092828
she didn't just threaten to dump her, she did it. for hogarth, the series ended with her getting her wife out of the picture but also with her losing the reason she needed her gone in the first place. literally the only thing that went alright for her is that as far as we're shown she isn't disbarred. her social life is still in shambles.
>>
It was a nice show, Purple Man stole it, I liked it as much as DD

But god fucking damn it they were trying way too hard to make Jessica a annoying turbo cunt, and they were successful, there wasn't a single episode I didn't want to punch her ugly face, and I think every line of her was her talking shit to people, looking down on them, being rude in general.
>>
Simpson was right all the time
If they killed Killgrave when they had the chance just like he wanted to they would have saved about 10 lives, including the girl Jessica wanted to help.

Worse than that, if Jessica had the capabilities of thinking rationally and a single drop of selflessness, she could have teamed up with killgrave and saved 10 lives daily.
>>
>>78092155
It was good.
Dialog was from ok to bad.
The last monologue sucked hard, it was tacky and cheap.
>>
>>78094681
I wish.
>>
>>78095139
And still I see people talking on facebook on how right and amazing Jessica was, also leprogressivefeminism.
Why people try to ruin stuff I like?
