Mulan's being set up with Red, not Merida. Also, Merida won't feature much at all in the last half of the season. It will be mostly Underworld (at least we get Hercules and Meg) plus a bit of Storybrooke.

If so, season 1 is great.
Season 2 starts perfectly fine then takes a nosedive.
After that... hit and miss, hit and miss. The last 2 seasons have been broken up into 2 story-arcs per each half of the season, so basically each half of the season is roulette. But in general the show's lost most of its coherency since the actors don't always stick with the show, storylines and characters and plot points get introduced and never returned to, some of the characters are trapped in cycles of character development then being retconned, development the retcon, etc, and it's a bit of a mess now.
But there are still some surprisingly great momentsI thought the Frozen arc was genuinely well done, and the Snow Queen character was the first compelling villain the show had in a long time. She also made me cry.but for the most part you basically have to resign yourself to not becoming invested and just enjoy the glorious disney fairytale mess.

This show is a guilty pleasure for me. It's just so bad it's good. The effects are awesomely terrible. Snow White isn't aging well, poor lass. Regina is amazingly hot; a shame she is no longer taking great joy in being evil, as it's where her actress seems to do best. All the smutty Emma/Regina fiction is also a bonus.
