If it wasn't so focused on kiddie pandering I think it could've been something. The whole "I feel sorry for you Surly." thing at the start made me think I was in for a feelcoaster. Disappointed by the end of it, character development was too fast and too forced.

This is one of the VERY few animated films that managed to make me stop watching after the first half-hour on Netflix and took me two months to muster up the courage to watch the whole thing. Yeah, it's not the worst animated film, but holy mother of god did these producers have the gall to not only make the most dated references to pop-culture, but the fact that they got Will Arnet, Jeff Dunham, and Liam Neeson frustrates me. Not to mention that this movie is basically a rehash of Over the Hedge (a movie with similar animation and premise).

as someone who studies animation at a well regarded school let me tell you that you in fact, do not know any high school students who can do better than this. maybe some college students, sure. definitely at ringling. but that doesn't devalue the animation at all. it's still pretty good and there's only so much you can do with those rigs.
