>Bleeding Cool understands from very well connected sources that DC Comics have these past weeks, been making enquiries of certain writers and artists as to whether or not they may be interested in working on the monthly title, including a number of Marvel creators currently on exclusive contracts.

If it proves be true...... what do you think about this /co/?
Who would you propose as a writer?
>>
The one and only king himself, BASED BENDIS
>>
>>78080083
>including a number of Marvel creators currently on exclusive contracts.
Who has marvel exclusives now? Humphries, Bendis, Soule, Aaron, GWW?
>>
REMENDER and OPENA/MOORE

1) Starts street level
2) Ends up cosmic tier
4) Genuine progress to every appearing character
5) Shit tons of foreshadowing i.e proper mysteries
>>
>>78080143
>yfw Humphries or current Bendis written Batman
>>
>>78080083
>Who would you propose as a writer?
Myself.
>>
Why the hell would they? Batman's still their best-selling book, right?
>>
>>78080282
If Snyder wants off it's not like they can force him to stay
>>
>>78080143
>Humphries, Bendis, Aaron

Thank you Marvel from making this three unable to write a DC book

Fuck you for taking Soule tho.
>>
>Who would you propose as a writer?
Alejandro Jodorosky :^)
>>
>>78080282

Is not going to stop being their highest selling book with or without Synder.
>>
I'd give it to Brubaker, but only with complete creative control and no Event Crossovers.

Which will never happen, so why speculate?
>>
>>78080307
Yeah, but DC got the homeless man's Bendis in Scott Lobdell
>>
>>78080083
>Who would you propose as a writer?
Azzarello, depending on how DK3 turns out, or Remender, for shits and giggles
>>
>>78080411
DC Bendis is Geoff Johns
Kitty Pryde is his Hal Jordan
>>
Tom King. Please. He's the only one well versed enough in the Bat mythos as he showed on Grayson. We need someone like that on the book again.
>>
>>78080411
And Lobdell will never leave as long as Harras is there
>>
>>78080083
Why would they ask Marvel exclusive writers when they are you know..exclusive? Why can't Didio and Lee smarten up and hire writers like Seeley,King and orlando as exclusives?
>>
>>78080435
Nah, Johns's dialogue is nowhere as irritating as Bendis's.
>>
>>78080464
If that gives him more fans so he can write other stuff and bring those fans over, then yes, King will do nicely.
>>
>>78080473
They won't be exclusive forever, those contracts run out eventually

>>78080435
>Kitty Pryde is his Hal Jordan
You mean Sinestro
>>
>>78080083
chris claremont or bust
> for realz
>>
>>78080464
I'd rather see him on Green Lantern, if it came down to it

>>78080473
They should lock down Orlando and Valentine at the very least, since I think King and Seeley are both doing Marvel stuff
>>
>yfw King and/or Seeley take over Batman
>>
>>78080532
His DC material is some of the worst comics I've ever read
>>
Not gonna happen but I'd like it if they gave it to Greg Weisman, Christopher Priest or J.M. DeMatteis.
>>
>>78080307
>Fuck you for taking Soule tho.
Why? He's fucking awful. Better to contain his shit at Marlel.
>>
>>78080222

Neither Opena or Moore can do monthly books, Moore left Deadpool cuz of the schedule/burnout and Opena couldn't even finish 100+ GN he had goodness knows how much lead time on.

We need more fast but good not slow but great. Capullo plz don't go.
>>
>>78080608
Capullo's doing a mini with Millar and who knows if he'll go back to Batman after that.

Snyder and Capullo on Wonder Woman when?
>>
My ideal world has Tom King writing the entire Bat Family.
>>
>Bleeding Cool
>well connected sources

>>
Not surprising. I don't think Synder will be on the title more than another year and some change. DC probably wants to prepare as soon as they can so they can land another top tier creative team.
>>
>>78080473
Cause getting a Marvel writer might mean bringing their fanbase over.

>>
Will Batman get a relaunch with a new creative team after BvS?

Putting out an #1 right after the movie would be a smart marketing move.
>>
>>78080891
This is DC, not Marvel
>>
>>78080891
It would probably be a hit but I don't think DC wants to renumber their A-list titles
>>
>>78080891
DC wouldn't even relaunch Batgirl when the new creative team came on and asked about it.
>>
>>78081131
Only a retard would accept the demands of CamStew

>>
>>78080464

Hickman. Get Morrison Jr. after Marvel botches up another of his events. That is unless he's under an exclusive contract.

If I was DC, I'd snatch up any writer that's been wronged by Marvel editorial.
>>
>>78080403
They rely on the occasional tie in to bring sales up for the other batbooks
>>
Jeff Lemire and Cliff Chiang. Make it happen DC. I would also accept Gail Simone and Emanuela Lupacchino.
>>
>>78083567
Yup but the crossover should come from Eternal or Detective Comics.
>>
>>78083638
>Emanuela Lupacchino
I kinda want to see her qt Bruce and Batman
>>
>>78080083
Bleeding Cool has learned from EXCLUSIVE SOURCES that DC is asking creators if they would be interested in working on their best-selling title.

I like BC sometimes but so much of their content is pointless content-free content.
>>
I would like to see someone do for Batman what Waid did for Daredevil, i.e. do a run that owes as little to Frank Miller as possible.

That means a Batman who decides it's time to lighten up and have fun again. Morrison seemed to be going for something like that at the beginning of his run but it went in other directions.

I guess it'll never happen because between Snyder's Miller-influenced run and TDKR3 and Batfleck, Miller's Batman is even more fixed in popular culture than Miller's Daredevil. But happy Batman would not be amiss.
>>
>>78080607
Soule was great at DC. Same with Lemire. Something about Marvel turns their DC poached talent into garbage.
>>
>>78083535
hickman showed up to the latest marvel retreat but he's taking a break from corporate comics. That being said, I think his issue by issue plotting style i.e. each one focuses on a different sort of characters would lend itself better to batman eternal or something. hickman has never written a solo book before

There are a lot of people who have written for both Big Two companies and clearly do better work at one of them. Sometimes it's maybe down to editing but sometimes they're just more in tune with one set of characters.

Batman is NOT ALLOWED TO BE FUN.

>>
>>78080282
Batman sells 'cause it's Batman and not because it's Snyder writing Batman.
>>
>>78085296
Well he was off for a while when they relaunched the book and Will Pfeifer was the new writer, then Lobdell came back for the last couple issues for some reason

But now Greg Pak is taking over in February
>>
>>78085320
Batman is popular, and consistently more popular than Superman, but he's been extra popular under Snyder and Capullo. He didn't sell this way under other teams and there have been times when they had to pump it full of gimmicks to get the numbers up (like putting Jim Lee on the title for a year in the early '00s).

Batman under Snyder has been like Spider-Man under Slott in the last few years - it just keeps selling, consistently. It doesn't mean we have a duty to enjoy the runs just that they seem to be working for the company (which is why Slott won't leave).
>>
>>78080552
>Valentine

That would be an interesting pick to write Batman.

Plus they can milk free press of "Female writer takes charge of iconic character" or whatever
>>
>>78080083
SeeKing on Batman.

Fuck it Chris Sims on Batman.

We need some new,weird blood.
>>
>>78084797
Well King is doing great on Vision so he doesn't seem to be affected by it.
>>
>>78086489
stop wasting good writers on a bad character
>>
>>78086494
He's not a marvel exclusive so he's safe for now
>>
>>78086569
Wow, you said something that's both unpopular and objectively wrong. You must be really smart.
>>
>>78086569
Chris Sims is your favorite writer?
>>
>>78080083
I'd pick Azarello. His last issue on Batman was great, and DK3 looks good as well.

>>78086494
King isn't writing an editorial influenced book. Meanwhile, Inhumans and X-men will be bogged down by editors with upcoming movies.

>>78080552
What is Seeley writing for Marvel?
>>
I love Tom King, but don't know how he would fair with Batman. He's good on Grayson but that's such a different book than Batman. I'd be more happy if he were to write GL.

Now if DC could convince Brubaker to come back and write Batman, that would be fucking aces.

>>78080891
>Will Batman get a relaunch with a new creative team after BvS?

It's a possibility because issue #52 would come soon after the movie comes out.
>>
>>78086714
>What is Seeley writing for Marvel?
Blade
>>
>>78080599
I honestly want Weisman as an editor.

I like his writing, but his meticulous planning and knowledge of DC in Young Justice makes me think his skills would be better used in editorial. Plus, he already worked with DC in the late 80's.
>>
>>78080552
Valentine has been a goddamn dark horse at DC. Her run on Catwoman was one of my favorites on any book in recent years. She'd kill it on a straight-up noir style Detective.
>>
>>78085302
>>78085320

Brubaker already wrote Batman back at the turn of the century. When Loeb and Lee took over he busted out a couple more good arcs on Detective before he left DC.

He also helped write Gotham Central. That was a good time for the Bat books, they also had Darwyn Cooke on board. Then suddenly it was followed by a forgettable period that culminated with War Games

I know the cover says Hama. But this was Brubakers first issue.
>>
>>78087244
I wouldn't want Waid on Batman even if he made up with DC. Like many Silver Agey writers he doesn't seem to connect a lot with Batman.

I'd just like to see a Waid/Daredevil approach to the writing and art on Batman, i.e. making Bruce decide he needs to have more fun and putting him in a brighter-colored world with more daylight.

We get a shitty opinion arc no matter who's on Batman. Taking Batman back to his roots as a lighthearted fun-loving guy would at least make the shitty opinion arc less annoying.

I'd actually like to see a shitty-opinion arc playing off the fact that Superman was a big SJW in the '30s and Batman wasn't.

It feels like Marvel hands them out fairly often just to keep a talent pool unavailable to DC

DC barely gives them out at all, I don't know of any writers who have exclusives at DC (I assume Johns does but cannot confirm), and as for artists Ethan van Sciver tweeted a few days ago that he just renewed his exclusive
>>
My list:
Tomasi: even though not thrilled with his current batbook I thought he was great on B&R plus hes on team Damien and carries the Morrison torch. Give him a decent artist and hes good to go.
Pak: He turned Action Comics around. Id like to see Pak and Kuder on the book
Joe Kelly: He wrote a pretty good Batman when he showed up in his superman run
Hickman: if marvel will let him go. Morrison jr could be great on the book

But didnt I hear that DC and Ruka kissed and made up. he was always a solid Bat writer
>>
>>78090260

>But didnt I hear that DC and Ruka kissed and made up.

Rucka is a the battered housewife of the Big Two, they keep abusing him and he keeps coming back over and over.
>>
>>78090260
>But didnt I hear that DC and Ruka kissed and made up. he was always a solid Bat writer
He did a Convergence mini for them and said he might be willing to do Batwoman if asked but he doesn't really sound desperate to work there again
>>
>>78090260
Been there done that in 2001 didn't work out.

And Rucka kinda hates Batman.

Now if Bruce was a women preferably a lesbian then Rucka would be interested.
>>
>>78090260

nah, read his batman/superman. He makes it clear he doesn't care for Batman and only took the gig to do a superman comic, you can tell he stopped caring for the run once he got action comics.
>>
>>78080685
Omega Men is only going 12 issues.
>>
>>78080112
I'd say "sorry DC" but if it means getting Bendis or Humphries away from Marvel then you have to be sacrificed.
>>
>>78086080
>when they had to pump it full of gimmicks to get the numbers up (like putting Jim Lee on the title for a year in the early '00s).

The big difference is that they didn't have the Nolan movies and the New 52 reboot to give that huge initial interest factor.
>>
>>78089799
>It feels like Marvel hands them out fairly often just to keep a talent pool unavailable to DC
Pretty much. On the plus side, it means that DC is always on the lookout for fresh talent and is probably a good reason why their books tend to be better than Marvel's on a general basis. Happened most recently with Soule, Lemire, etc. before Marvel poached them with exclusives. And now those two aren't putting out as great material and DC's moved onto King, Seely, Orlando, etc.
>>
>>78083535
If Hickman's coming over to DC, it's only if they dangle both LOS and Blue Demon in front of him.

I don't think Bendis would write for DC if they offered him both surgery to turn him into Luke Cage AND a real life Kitty Pryde. He's a Marvel Company man.
That said, if Hell were to freeze over and he jump ship I'd want him and Johns to switch places, so we can get more Johns Avengers.
Plus I bet he'd write some good X-Men, actually focus on some of the legacy X-Men like he did in JSA

They don't need to look around. King and Seeley are right there, writing the best batbook. It's nuts not to put them on the main title.

Remender makes sense, his last comic to publish in Marvel was Hail Hydra #4 but is he still under contract? Also the SJW hate him and tried to start shit to get him thrown out, also hobo piss.

Johns is kind of like the kid fan with who is weird and makes some cringey shit but occasionally does something endearing or awesome that makes you relieve your own childhood.

Bendis is the spastic bratty autistic kid who occasionally does something amusing but most of the time you just wish he go away yet he is still there and will be there until he gets bored and falls asleep or moves on to something else.

Bendis on story, Erica Henderson on art.

Morrison did New X-men for Marvel for awhile and I dunno what happened but I sense some bad blood between Morrison and Marvel. Also Bendis doesn't like the guy and he worked hard to undo a lot of stuff Morrison did in his run (Cat Beast and Scott/Emma for example).

Besides Morrison is too crazy for Marvel and Marvel wouldn't risk doing a Morrison scale type of comic because the casuals would get confused.

I disagree, I think Vision is his strongest work so far. I enjoy it much more than Grayson, OM and Sheriff, though all of them are great.

That was the artist, not DC, if the artist had not given a shit then DC would have backed them up.

As much as everyone on /co/ complains about Snyder I guarantee you that the writer that comes after him will turn the series in the formulaic shit it was before.

And in fact the Omega Men Complete collected edition's listing on Amazon has been updated to include the second half.

I can't tell if I love or hate that design on a Batman book. Especially the header.
