James Robinson is the best when it comes to the Golden Age elements.
Geoff Johns does both very well and manages to combine that a sense of wonder and excitement that reminds me of 80s kids movies.
I'd say he's the definitive DC man, but he doesn't excel in specific areas.

Well. He is, which is why I left. It's all surface level, akin to a child smashing action figures together. Every plot beat consisting of a character, or army of characters sneak attacking another while yelling something epic in a colorful voice bubble.
I left DC when Morrison left and the only time they'll get my money is on his projects.
