Now that the dust has settled, was it a masterpiece or just another throwaway Spring animation?
>>78066710
are you sure the dust has settled yet?
>>78066781
20.5 years is how long it takes, South Park said so
genuine masterpiece. tied with lilo and stitch for my favourite disney movie. god the colours in goof are so damn gorgeous
>>78066710
Still one of my favourite cartoon movies.

never liked the goof troop show, but the movie is based.
>>78066825
Looking back, I have to say that the backgrounds have an impressive amount of detail.
It's great.

hi

>Now that the dust has settled
Masterpiece.
Masterpiece.
I love how neither Max nor Goofy are portrayed as being right, rather both of them are wrong.
Max is wrong for pushing Goofy away and for selfishly derailing the trip for his own needs
Goofy is wrong for forcing Max on the trip in the first place, and for refusing to listen and let him grow up.
There is no antagonist beyond their refusal to compromise. Such a gray area was really rare in Disney back in those days.
>>78067115
Gotta say the dust has probably settled on this one
Ahead of it's time tbqh familia desu
>>78066953
My dad fucked a chick like this back in college.
It was still masterpiece
too bad we can't say the same about the sequel
So Christianity is confirmed for existing in the Disney universe, right?
>>78067401
Was her name Your Mom?
>>78067449
Why not? They have Los Angelos and Idaho. Big deal.
Disney Universe is the kinda place where you'd expect God to come to the concert and put on some mood lighting anyway.
>>78067401
Your dad fucked a anthropomorphic dog?
>>78067498
Nope. Different woman.
>>78067535
Yes. That was exactly what I was talking about
>>78067449
Mickey's Once and Twice Upon a Christmas would seem to back up that claim.
>>78066938
This song is so much better now that I'm older.
>>78067449
there are so many disney christmas specials and merchandise.
>>78067549
Are you from a different universe or a different planet?
Please tell us.
I'd say both this and the sequel are masterpieces, although the sequel significantly less-so.
>>78067581
I'm actually from the Disney universe. Please get me out of here. It's horrible
>>78067586
There was a sequel?
>>78067596
sorry, wrong pic.

Yes
Here's the plot
Max is going to college
His dad is his roomate
>>78067615
Golly gee that's cute
>>78067401
Did he take pics?
Max a sexmachine
>>78066710
It's definitely a classic at this point. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's a masterpiece but it's definitely a fantastic movie that's very heartwarming with incredibly memorable songs. After Today has been in my head for decades.
>>78067624
Here's one for you now
>>78067758
This image was chosen due to the scarcity of Goofy-related reaction images, help a brother out.
>>78067737
While he was fucking her? No. But of her? Yes. Dyed red hair and that stupid French hat
The hot tub scene with Goofy and Pete always gets me. One of the heavier Disney scenes, in my opinion.
>You know, Max isn't all the things you think a son should be, but he loves me.
>Hey, my son -respects- me.
>>78067602
extreme goofy, I think it was called. Max goes to college.
>>78067808
That scene always made me conflicted.
....Is Pete a bad dad, or just unnecessarily strict?
>>78067808
The music leading up to Goofy discovering the map's directions was tense.
>>78067772
She want the booty
>>78067849
god i wish that was peg and not some black chick
>>78067808
This movie had a lot of dramatic colors and cinematography.
>>78067842
Definitely not, if push came to shove he'd take a bullet for his kid.
>>78067842
Both are terrible dads, but regardless both sons ended up going to the same college
Never forget

>>78067842
I always took him as a "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" case. He means to do what's best for his son, but goes to extremes to get it, and is so caught up in things that he doesn't realize that he's already gone too far.

>he really just has a lazy eye

>this scene with this dog wearing a beret comes up in the movie

>What?
>I don't believe you, Pete.
>Hey, you don't have to take my word for it. Check the map!
>I don't need to check the map. I trust my son.
Fuck, man. The character drama is so spot-on in that moment.

This is the sort of "troll" response that would be upvoted on reddit. Perhaps you could go there. You would also be rewarded with numbers.
>>78067842
Unnecessarily strict; Pete always came across as a "This was how I was raised and I turned out fine!" guy to me.
>>78066710
It's not a masterpiece but it's pretty damn good, way better than it deserved to be. I was surprised to find out years later it was made by the same company that made the awful direct-to-DVD Disney sequels.
It's also like Hocus Pocus in that just by virtue of being played on Disney Channel so many times that an entire generation (myself included) developed nostalgia for it.
Awesome movie, they should have used it to launch another show.
The only real problems I had with the movie were
>The kids laugh after he takes over the stage, sings and dances with fog machines after removing the principal and flies through the air
No matter how uncool people thought you were they had to have been impressed.
Also as a kid I remember that it used to get kind of boring by the time they got to the beaver hut.
I've got 40 more minutes
Of home economics
>>78068380
I'm totally in agreement. It's one of those obnoxious, American "drama because characters refute to listen to each other" things dragged out to the length of an entire movie. I could never stand it.
Why the living fuck is this movie not on Blu Ray?
>>78068380
Well some one likes to stand out, above the crowd
>>78067881
>>78067808
Honestly, now that I think about it, the conversations that Goofy and Pete had about parenting were pretty powerful. Just the contrast in their personalities and how their sons act towards them. Pete is an alpha, throws his weight around and has his son under his thumb. Strict but you can tell he loves his boy. Goofy is the softy, lovable and lenient. But this makes him a bit of a pushover which allows Max to chew him out and rebel against his good intentions. Teenagers need freedom to venture out, but guidelines to follow, but most importantly a safety net to fall back on when their experiments don't turn out well. Both parents are right, and both are wrong, its a balance.
When i was a kid i thought that Pete was telling Goofy about Max liying to him because he was the evil bad guy like he always was in the Disney shorts and comics, but then i realized that he did it because he actually did the right thing and that he was anything but a bad guy.

>There is no antagonist beyond their refusal to compromise. Such a gray area was really rare in Disney back in those days
Hell, it still is now. I mean, look at Frozen. Was it really necessary to make Hans the villain in the last 15 minutes? It came out of nowhere and didn't contribute much. Wreck-it Ralph, as much as I love it to death, shoved in Turbo at the last minute despite the rest of the film showing far more gray morality. Although granted, this example makes far more sense since it was foreshadowed heavily throughout the movie.
>>78072474
Frozen has the depth of a toy commercial
>>78066710
Can starting a thread with "Now that the dust has settled..." cause it to auto-sage like when you use the word "shotacon" when you start a thread in /a/?
>>78072474
>Shoved in Turbo at the last minute
You get an F for not paying attention. See me after class.
>>78066710
You posted the wrong film (if your goal was to see how polarizing it was).
>>78068136
This pic took longer than expected to be posted. Step up your game.
>>78072276
Out with the textbooks
In with the comics
>>78068136
When people started posting pictures of this guy whilst throwing around words like "Goofykin", I actually did some searching on him to see what his deal was. Turns out he's just a shitty performance artist with too much time on his hands and not the tumblr-esque abomination people made him out to be. I mean, he's weird as fuck, but not "I sincerely think I'm Goofy" weird.
>>78072474
Turbo was already well established earlier plus Hans had some hints in his duet. He was clearly just saying what he thought Anna wanted to hear.
>>78067808
>>78069490
Man, the feels are eating me up.
>>78072268
They were laughing in a positive way, his reputation changes overnight from "the goof" to local cool dude after that stunt
The hot girl who shrugged him off on the way to school (not his gf) even says: "Woah, who IS that boy?"
>>78067943
is it wrong that i prefer her everyday look?
>>78069496
that's ok bruh. roxanne was my first non sexual way crush
>>78072606
The problem with Hans isn't really that he comes out of nowhere, it's that he cheapens the oh-so-praised morality of the movie
What was supposed to be "true love doesn't come from the first guy you met" became "true love doesn't come from the first guy you just met because he's actually evil and you should get instead with the other guy that you just met"
I hate it. Made me uncomfortable.

But they were. The moment school let out dude was getting hit on by a girl that couldn't care less about him earlier.
>>78072454
Well he wasn't doing it to be evil, but he did have a grin when he found out and earlier he was wondering why the hell Max and Goofy were so Buddy-Buddy instead of having the same relationship he and PJ did.
>>78072736
no.
>>78067808
>mfw CHECK THE MAP, GOOF
>>78068075
Wait what? Sylvia showed up in something more than An Extremely Goofy Movie?
>>78074296
>he did have a grin when he found ou
I always thought that was more about him figuring out the con. Rebellious ten suddenly well behaved and caring after a couple of days? Suspicious. But then he hears the plan and you can practically hear the 'and theeeere it is' that goes through his head. He was right all along.
When he's about to tell Goofy the truth, he starts off very smug. He'll, the whole buildup he's practically gloating, but as the words comes out, his tone immediately changes.
>the kid's goofin ya
He really does feel bad. I just rewatched their talk, and you can see he doesn't take any joy in telling Goofy what's going on. Then, when Goofy takes Max's side over his and even goes so far as to insinuate that Pete's son doesn't love him, Pete feels offended and retaliates.
>Hey, my kid RESPECTS me
But there at the end he tries to reach out one more time, even irritated as he is
>Check the map, Goof!
I really like Pete in this movie. He's loud, boastful, loves showing off , and thinks he knows best about everything. Still, at the end of the day he really does care for his son and he really considers Goofy his friend. He's very human. You don't see that very often anymore.
>>78074582
Every other time we see Pete, he's a total prick to everyone.
>>78074676
This is true.
