I'm pretty bad at drawing, but I practice at least once a week for getting better.
Show me your art, show me your progress, your motivation and dreams.
This may not be a thread for those who are good;
But it sure is a thread for those wanting to get better.

Well, since no one's posting, I should comply.
I posted this in the "Pitch a Cartoon" thread. I decided to stop being scared of Flash and finally try to make something. Pic is my first attempt, it's a side character from a main project I'm working on.
sure, why not
Just finished this piece up. Working on color choice and some anatomy issues.
I'll post in a bit. I am just giving this thread a friendly bump since I was looking for the dumb gay Batman thread for like the past week and don't have an OP image saved so I couldn't make it.

Trying to stimulate creativity by making a creature. Pretty generic but I'm happy with it as a quick sketch.

Posted this before but depression during 5 months of unemployment is crippling mentally. made a bit of progress. A few things bother me but I'll fix them and maybe finish this some day.

Generic Venom doodle. That's it for now. Probably post more later.
Hmm. I'd love to be a professional 2D/ 3D animator. Drawing was supposed to be a stepping stone, but over the years I started to enjoy it more and more. So now I do very little animation, and draw more. Yea. Shit took a left turn.

Really nice!
Keep animating, it's great.

Amazing progress.
Also, your worst may be easily better than most of my stuff.

That's a succubus? Pretty nice.

Pretty professional stuff.
Are ya earning coin with that?

Thanks! Unfortunately, no, I'm not making anything from it. I got fired from a crappy job just printing signs for something not even my fault (I honestly wanted to quit anyways, long story), and have been unemployed for like 6 months.
This past week I've been trying to break out of my extremely long lazy funk and suck it up and try to get some sort of art/illustration job. I just don't know how or where to start or have anywhere near a complete portfolio right now.
That being said, if anyone has any idea where to start, I'd love to hear it.

Also, you're not bad at drawing, so don't say that. It's pretty important to understand proportions and from what I can tell, you have that. It took me years of experience knowing how to make a decent line before I even LOOKED at proportions. What are you using to draw? A tablet? Maybe some tighter lines and such and cleaning up where you filled in, and you'd look like you're drawing a really minimalistic art style. Like not quite old-Mickey/Disney but along those lines. I dig it.

Animation from what I hear is very grueling. Unfortunately the next step below that, that doesn't actually require half the work, is storyboarding, which I hear is extremely competitive but pays VERY well depending on your clients. This one guy my buddy's fiancee had to hire at their ad firm got paid like $3k for about 2 hours worth of storyboarding work. Literally did it overnight.
Using a tablet for a first time. Just some doodles.
Working on a thing

I wish I was half decent at laying out ideas like that. But, if I just did story boarding that'd be pretty boring. Honestly. I know you'd get a lot of creative control, a lot of acknowledgement from companies/people, and a nice paycheck.. But I'd be missing out on seeing my ideas through start to finish. The relief of getting it done, the gratification, seeing come to life by your hand. I can't miss that. That'd be the end of me.
Also my storyboards are pretty poor-quality..
