>>
Hey mission accomplished! Go team
>>
>>78057934
Basics of universal life cycle,

Phoenix becomes a Cosmic Egg at the end of everything. Last living thing enters the egg. New Universe is born. Phoenix spins off. Person that entered becomes something else and is in part responsible for keeping the Universe turning until the Phoenix can rev up enough cycles to kickstart things again.
>>
>>78057690
Well that confirms what we all already suspected: Galactus is from Universe-6.

I guess it was to much to hope for that Ewing wouldn't let Galactus go down like a fucking bitch. I honestly don't why I expected better from Ewing in this matter than previous writers.
>>
>>78057625
I'm not sure if I like this yet.

>>
I said this already in Win-O.
This is a retarded retcon, probably aimed at dumbing down the cosmology to facilitate the movies. It's fucking Galactus you shitskins and you don't just invert Galactus. If this doesn't blow up BIG TIME in their faces, I'm calling this an official rape on cosmic Marvel.

>>
>>78057922
Wait, I thought Galactus' planetary eating function was necessary to keeping the universe in balance? Wouldn't not only stopping him from eating worlds, but actually making him give life to dead ones, completely fuck that balance up?
>>
So... they somehow cured galactus in less than a year(assuming they've been working on this for the past eight months) whilst no one else has in the past 13 billion years?
>>
>>78058622
Ah, that makes more sense, thanks.
>>
>>78058757
That balance was always vague as fuck though. How would this fuck anything up?
>>
>>78058784
Did you fail to notice that their plan hinged on Iso-8 as a power source? I mean, put aside Monica's absurd power channeling ability, put aside America's special knowledge of where to find the incubator, it still needed the Iso-8 to work.

So given that Iso-8 has only existed for eight months, I think they made pretty good time.
>>
>>78058838
Abraxas or the Celestials, pick your poison
>>
>>78058648
I understand your complaint about the retconning, but I don't get your movie conspiracy because:
-They can't actually make a movie with Galactus in it due to the crazy movie rights issues
-I don't exactly get how a giant golden man who creates life on planets is "dumbed down" from a giant purple man who devours planets.
I'm not saying your complaints are wrong, just your theories about tying into the movies are a bit off.
>>
>>78058151
>what we all already suspected
There was nothing suspected about it. Galactus was already canon the last survivor of the previous universe. This book bringing it up and wrapping it in "sixth infinity" means just they didn't retcon it.
>>
>>78058757
If Ewing is worth the praises people sing him around here, it'll come up down the line. Personally though, I have *zero* fucking faith that anyone at Marvel presently is capable of doing right by cosmic marvel at this point.
>>
>>78058867
Abraxas is long gone and the Celestials/Galactus stuff was Earth X.
>>
>>78058784
Most people try to fight or kill him. Others try to run away. And then there's Heralds who choose to serve him.

I guess most aliens haven't had the resources to get to the root of the problem (a multiversal teleporter who can retrieve the Incubator, godlike beings strong enough to push him into it, a living energy being who could shift trough different wavelengths to power it up and a super computer capable of reprogramming it.
>>
Wow this was certainly a visually pleasing experience. Nice to see carol not wear that stupid mask and chavez not be too cunty. Thanks OP
>>
>>78058857

The last time Galactus was portrayed properly as the threat he actually is as a higher order cosmic being, was back in Annihilation.
So yeah, I don't get why you somehow expected Ewing to be better.
>>
>>78058725
I'm...really surprised. a PR stunt like all black team book is actually really good.

>>
>>78058880
More like zero editor faith to actually care about continuity or be in line with other books
>>
>>78058893
Abraxas would technically be stuck in Oblivion's neck of the woods, since that is where things that are wiped from existence or destroyed by the ultimate nullifier go.
>>
>>78058757
they basically super charged Galactus, he'll probably go around restoring planets for a while so he doesn't blow up.
>>
>>78059029
>was back in Annihilation.
Not quite. Nova series had him appear in one story arc a little after annihilation and it was pretty much my favourite portrayal of him.
>>
>>78059029
Future Galactus in Jason Aaron's Thor run was also a threat and rad as fuck.
>>
>>78058940
The abstracts have barely been mentioned in anything in the past decade.

Although they might be in Stalin's OGNs. I haven't read them, but they seem like they would be in any cosmic book written by him.
>>
>>78058879
I think they meant that since ANAD Marvel is currently the 8th iteration of 616 after Secret Wars then all of the other universal resets haven't counted and the pre-Secret Wars 616 was the 7th iteration since Galan was the last survivor of the 6th
>>
>>78059037
None of the PR was about their races though. At the very least Ewing picked Monica and Adam because they are his darlings like how Powerman and White Tiger got into New Avengers
>>
>>78058857
So iso-8 is a miracle cure?
>>
>>78057812
Wait, why is he paying attention to Panther? He pays attention to Reed because of the Nullifier+Franklin and Doom because whenever they meet Doom usually does something horrible to him but why Panther?
>>
>>78058940
To be fair, abstracts and most cosmic beings beyond Death, Galactus, the celestials and the elders of the universe hardly ever pop that much anymore. They usually get reserved for stories with Thanos or whenever there's a serious cosmic war going on, or when a writer wants things to seem like they really matter even when they don't.

>>78058757
He's basically the answer to entropy since he gathers everything together. He actually does somewhat feel bad about eating worlds which is why he tries to eat as sparingly as possible. (Initially it was hundreds of thousands of years if not millions between feedings which is why he used to be more of a scary legend or god like figure that people were very skeptical about the existence of in many galactic cultures. Lately he's not been able to last nearly as long since everyone keeps on making comics of him needing to eat.) There are probably other things I'm not aware of but the general balance he maintains won't be noticed until the end of the universe when he doesn't have the power to help reset a new one.
He's also been able to remake anything he ate for a long time.

So they recycled a Galactus from an exiles book.

And didn't M2 get a galactus/surfer combo that went about restoring life as well?

Jesus Christ boy-o, Thor can't get Galan's attention, nobody on that team is even close to Thor's position in the universe.

Blue Marvel beat King Hyperion in a drag-out slugfest..

It's not only about the power, it's about the rank in cosmic hierarchy. Beta Ray Bill would kill Hyperion in a fight probably, yet they both are not as "important" as Thor, who's a god and son of a Skyfather.

Galactus acknowledges people like Thanos, Odin, Franklin Richards, not people like Black Panther for damn's sake.

Yeah, Last Planet Standing ended with Galactus fusing with Surfer and getting a life restoring power like this.

Ewing is, if nothing else, a massive continuityfag. Judging by this thread, more so than the vast majority of /co/.
>>
>>78072154
So all Ewing did was use the classic origin (it's almost exactly the same) and didn't include any stuff about abstracts or phoenix that was added later.

I hope Carol isn't supposed to be a diplomat. That's never been part of her character, and a big part of KSD's second run with her revolves around her failing miserably at diplomacy.

The way I see it:
Black Panther - Money, Logistics, Political backing, high IQ.Team Lead.
Blue Marvel - SCIENCE! high IQ, honorary Watcher, and muscle on top of that. I see him as being the diplomatic type.
Monica - SPEED! Muscle.
America - INTERDIMENSIONAL TELEPORTATION VIA KICKING! Knowledge of various weird things and muscle.
Carol - Pilot, Military Commander, Muscle. As Commander of Alpha Flight she can call on a small fleet anytime, plus she's been an Avenger forever, and can call on them too. AND soon she's going to be in a super-sexy lesbotron relationship with a spider (I hope), so she can call on them for access to the Web. A generally useful person to have around.
Galactus - SCIENCE! MORE SCIENCE THAN EVER SCIENCED BEFORE! and Muscle, and Bring life to dead worlds, and high IQ, and pure intimidation factor.....

I just want to see the team chillin with Galactus.
"Humans......tell me......why is one of you so pale? Is she ill?"
(everyone but Carol starts laughing)

This could work if they go "Galactus still eats planets, but less often and once in a while he rebuild a planet because he did ate it too soon due being a premature cosmic birth. But he's still mostly the usual Galactus, just less often hungry."

Tell me about it. Used to be that cosmic a couple of characters from Earth to serve as touchstones for the reader. These days? Cosmic is like 80-90% earthlings.
A big part of Cosmic Marvel's appeal, at least for me, was that it didn't revolve around Earth and the people from it(much), but NOPE, can't have that anymore.
>>
>>78076438
But how would Marvel fill their quota on black homosexuals and quippy smartphone-using women, if they told stories about aliens?
>>
>>78076438
>Used to be that cosmic a couple of characters from Earth to serve as touchstones for the reader
I get the impression that you've never read any cosmic from before Giffen/DnA, and are somehow not aware that almost everyone on DnA's Guardians were from Earth.
>>
>>78076438
>These days? Cosmic is like 80-90% earthlings.
That has always been the case. I mean shit, Thanos' ancestors are from Earth. Starfox was an Avenger. Mantis, Cosmo, Quasar, Star-Lord, Drax, Moon Dragon, Major Victory, Adam Warlock, Nova, all from Earth. Kree/Skrull War was an Avengers story. Korvac Saga took place on Earth. Captain Marvel's whole story revolves around abandoning the kree to become an Earth hero. Most Silver Age cosmic stories revolved around the Fantastic Four. Silver Surfer spent years trapped on Earth and spending significant amount of time on Earth. Infinity Gauntlet spent a significant amount of its time revolving around the effect killing half of the universe had on Earth and Warlock gathering up earth heroes to try and take down Thanos. Rocket Raccoon's first appearance was in a Hulk comic. The Thanos War happened on Earth and Thanos' first appearance was in Iron Man. The Starjammers are lead by an Earthling. Most Shia'ar stories heavily feature or revolve around the X-men. War of Kings was a war between an Earth mutant and an Earth Inhuman. Starblast revolved around everyone fighting over the Starbrand that an earthling had. Beta Ray Bill got his powers from the Asgardians, which are Earth-based. Kl'Rt's powers are from the Fantastic Four. A lot of the most notable cosmic stories from the 70s happened in Marvel Two-in-One, a Thing team-up book.

Where did this "cosmic used to not be earth focused and not have any earthlings" meme start? Because it wasn't the case under Giffen/DnA. It wasn't the case under Starlin/Lim. It wasn't the case under Lee/Kirby.

>>
>>78076962
>and are somehow not aware that almost everyone on DnA's Guardians were from Earth.

To be fair, the overall tone tended to be "fuck earth. We got space shit to sort out". Now it seems like Earth HAS to be involved in some capacity these days.
>>
>>78077347
The majority of cosmicfags are upset that Marvel isn't writing cosmic like their headcanon, just like how a bunch of people in this thread were upset with Ewing using Galactus's actual origin and not their headcanon version.

I liked how Galactus ignored beings whom he saw beneath him and it made sense, and I like how he was treated as inevitable and how Nova had to convince Surfer to buy him time to save people from a planet Galactus was devouring.

Reed stopping Galactus was suppose to be a one time thing that Reed managed to do but if anyone can stop Galactus it takes away some of the mysticism and godliness that he has.

That said I hope Galactus restoring worlds backfires, maybe they fuck off ecosystems or gravitational pulls of other planets or whatever, aliens start warring over the new planets and new conflicts start, the GotG are pissed off at the Ultimates, and in the end they decide that maybe Galactus should be Galactus again.
>>
>>78076962

DC is better at mindfuck 4th wall and dimensional shit than cosmic, Marvel used to own cosmic but now they are more interested in funny shit and appeasing the casuals than telling an actual story.
