I'd have to say Finn. I feel like I've gotten way closer to him as a person than any of the other kids here. Maybe that's because I've cared about AT the longest, or I find him the most endearing, but he's grown so much in the half-decade that the show has been out. Plus, completely on their own without the assistance of any mentors or partners, Finn would wipe the floor against any of them save maybe Steven. That is, if they even feel the need to fight. They'd probably all end up goofing off together.
I don't really like Morty, to be honest. There's nothing I find quite endearing about him and I'm tired of hearing about his sex drive.

I think that this will be used when things go to shit, maybe Nicole knows that whatever force controls Elmore will make another change in the future and she is afraid that it will get rid of her or another member of her family, maybe the little puppets will serve to help Gumball remember what happened after the Void decides to make another big change to the show and we will see Gumball pretty much breaking free from the Matrix and the show itself will end when he tries to escape.

i think gumball's the most charming and my favorite of the list. dipper is probably the best developed narratively of the group. morty is second most developed.
steven's alright. he has a naivete that's sort of adorable in certain situations but can be grating in other scenarios. i've been unhappy with the rate of steven's character development as well, though i can respect the point of developing him more gradually. finn is fine, and i've actually started to like him more the longer the show goes on. the way he's dealt with his father strikes me as surprisingly mature for a show intended for younger audiences, though perhaps AT is more for older audiences these days.
i know nothing about marco, i haven't watched star. he might be the best of the group, but i wouldn't know.

Well, if I were picking them for a team, I'd probably pick Steven, Finn, and then Marco. Steven has super powers, Finn and Marco can fight.
Morty's generally pretty useless although every once in a while he channels his grandpa and suddenly becomes the most powerful of the group. But this possibility seems too unreliable for him to be a solid contributor.
Dipper, assuming this is Dipper from the show and not fandom's super magician half demon Dipper, is really just a bright, brave regular kid. He'd only be especially useful if they ran across one of the monsters from the journals.
Gumball is kind of an outlier here, like Morty I'm not sure what's a reliable skillset for him.

Finn is the most well-developed character.
