I honestly approached it from a neutral point ever since the demo and usually I see the fanbase just being a case of having autism and the threads just degraded from there. The gay characters are there but it's hardly a point to turn it down but I see the point. Not sure if you can ignore all the noise and just base it from just giving it a shot without the fanbase influencing the outlook.

I played Undertale on release and hate a really great fucking time with it. I liked a lot of the characters and it was a good game.
But over the last few months it's nothing but fucking Undertale. It's so invasive in fucking everything and by virtue of being super popular in many crowds I see it constantly even when the people posting it are posting it in appropriate places.
So it's enough to get annoyed about just seeing it. Then you have the whole spectrum of garbage being thrown at you. Shitty badly drawn porn, "cute" or "funny" comics that are bland as shit since they can't capture the character or charm of the source material, and just general blog posts going "X is trans haha".
So it's like even though none of that is actually involved with the source material you can't completely divorce it because at that point you've (I have) seen more garbage material about the thing than you ever did from the actual source and that's the curse of popular indie shit.
