Let's have a Disney park thread.

Planning on going with a friend to DisneySea on Christmas, anyone been to Sea before? What's it like?
>>
Going to wow next week.

>tfw last year for the Osbourne Lights

Hopefully when Star Wars is built they'll have a Christmas event for that area.

Let's all go to Animal Kingdom and laugh at Avatarland.
>>
Went to DW/Universal last year for 2 weeks. My life has been miserable ever since i got back.
>>
>>78049212
Why are they even adding that, anyways? Not being a Disney property aside, I'm not sure if anyone really remembers Avatar enough for them to make a land out of it.
>>
>>78049599
Basically, Harry Potter World at Universal Studios made them panic, go "well we need a Harry Potter killer". Avatar became the highest grossing movie of all time and they lept for it.

Fast forward six months, no one cares about Avatar any more, but the ink is dry on all the deals. They HAVE to make it because of a snap judgement.

What does /co/ think of the Three Caballeros ride update?
>>
>>78050728
When did this happen?
>>
>>78050838
http://attractionsmagazine.com/three-caballeros-audio-animatronics-added-boat-ride-world-showcase/
>>
>>78050728
I forgot that ride even existed.
>>
>>78050728
That was a very nice touch. I always thought that ride was rather underrated
>>
>>78051120
It was always a pretty low tier ride.
I don't think anyone even noticed when they added a Three Caballeros theme to it.
>>
What are some of your hopes for the upcoming Star Wars land?
>>
>>78050728
>>78051116
Actually fits the theme; if they were going to perform live at a concert, why was it a projection screen? The animatronics sell the live theme and make it feel more like a proper dark ride.
>>

From what I've seen from some of the concept art, there will be a cantina inspired restaurant in the land but it's not the Mos Eisley Cantina as Star Wars Land seems to not be based on any specific locations from the movies but rather a mixture of all of them

It's actually been a long time coming too, but got pushed back due to budget cuts.

The figures were originally from the Mickey Mouse Revue that opened with the Magic Kingdom back in 1971. The show was sent to Tokyo in the 80s and it closed for Philharmagic several years ago. The Caballero animatronics were saved for Epcot and showed up at a D23 event, but it took a few years until they were finally spruced up and installed.

They actually made two sets of figures for the Mickey Mouse Revue as there was this whole bit during the number where they'd disappear from the serape and reappear elsewhere in the theater to the sounds of Panchito's gunshots. Would be nice if they fixed up the second set and put them in that scene with the Small World-esque dolls.

Or just built Beastly Kingdom. Though it really wouldn't be that hard to turn Pandora into more of a fantasy setting what with the floating rocks that movie stole from so many video games and trippy album covers.

Turn the Banshee flight into something with Griffins, turn the boat ride into the Fantasia dark ride originally pitched, and build the dragon coaster and there you go.

>>
>>78052993
The difference is scale. The original Matterhorn yetis were repurposed Jungle Cruise apes that were more human sized and the updates really just replaced it with a more standard animatronic base

The Animal Kingdom yeti's a 20 foot Kong-sized fucker posed in a way that he's got a boom coming out of his back to support him with hydraulics capable of putting out a force similar to a jet engine taking off. The attraction is also built in such a way that the animatronic support infrastructure, the track structure, and the mountain structure don't touch, but there was a defect in the animatronic infrastructure support that could have lead to some crossing the streams shit to happen, so they've turned him off and just kept it that way because Animal Kingdom's ride count is so small.

Avatarland will probably be enough pressure taken off Everest's shoulders for them to actually go back in and fix the problems.

They'll install him whenever the next big refurbishment for HM in Florida is.
Disneyland HM closes down for a certain amount of time each year for Holiday, which is when they install upgrades.
Usually if Disneyland installs and upgrade MK doesn't have yet, it'll take a couple of years.
Basically they just close down the WDW one often enough to not suffer the disrepair it had before the big 2007 upgrades.
Seriously the ride used to be broken as fuck, half the doom buggies had blown out speakers, and the figures didn't function properly.

It depends on how much they want to push this whole immersive "This is a new planet in the post-ROTJ era" thing. On one hand, they could do a relocated and redone "Star Tours 3" for a Star Wars Land Phase 2 or they could just let Tomorrowland have the ride that covers the original six movies (and out of place scenes from the ST) and not spend a dime.

I really hope we get more details on the land after TFA comes out. Launch Bay is meant to function as a place for them to preview it after all.

They may get around pretending that Avatar fits the park because "muh enviromentalism" but they fucked up dedicating a fourth of a theme park to a movie franchise nobody cares about anymore.

>>78052887
Universal has already got the best Marvel theme park we could ever have. Since Disney now profits from it, it would be easier to just let them expand it by adding an Avengers or Iron Man ride.

People that go to Universal usually go to Disney too anyways.

Tuesday through Thursday, so I guess it should start out all right.
I fully expected, and still am, for it to basically be

Either way, I haven't been able to make it for the Christmas decorations this year so it should be nice to see everything all decked out.

Went to a Disney park for the first time last year (WDW) it was awesome and seemed like I got in at the right time before construction took over most of the parks this year, also got to ride maelstrom before it closed
>>
>>78052870
Now's a great time to go, because it's winter. Summer is when the water parks seem to be packed. Summit Plummet gives wedgies. If you're a gril, wear one piece swimsuit or your top will fly off.
>>
Anyone else looking forward to the new Refurb for Incredible hulk. I hope they didint take everything down just to repaint it and to check everything.

I wonder if they are going to add speakers in the cars to play hulk noises from the movies or add music to the ride.

also i know it would be asking alot to change the track layout a bit but that would be really cool if they did or added something new like extra effects, scenery objects or tunnels.
>>
>>78052964
But that would require Disney thinking about doing something unique rather than leeching off popular IPs

Nintendo's taking over the kiddie area surrounding ET in the Studios park.

Word is Hulk and the rest of Marvel Island are getting an MCU-based overhaul with an Avengers ride coming in a few years.
>>
>>78069125
Has that actually been confirmed yet?
Its always been the rumor that either Marvel is getting re-themed or Kids Zone is going completely.
KId Zone is a bit of an awkward piece of land, but there is room for expansion if the demolish the parade buildings behind it.

Is there really a no singles policy at the parks? Not that I doubt it if there is, but a lot of guidebooks have sections dedicated to going on your own.

Not that I'd ever go to DidneeWurl alone... That's a shade more depressing than a great many things in life

tfw no friends to go to Disney with, let alone a qt gf
>>
>>78076314
Single rider lines exist and are your friend.
>>
>>78076314
I'd go with you anon.
>>
>>78076172

On the app maybe but there are three fast pass pools. Online, In Park and Non-Inventory. You'd have to get there at rope drop and find a kiosk asp but they're there.
>>
>>78076314
>Is there really a no singles policy at the parks?
Are you seriously falling for a 4chan meme?
>>
>>78076172

As a Cast Member I gotta say the FP system is utter shit. It doubles the wait time for a ride in the Stand By line.

I like how Universal does their's: if you wanna pay extra you deserve it.

I was there just a few days ago with family and we got on Gringott's. It had a half an hour wait but we didn't stand still for more than ten seconds at a time. If that was a Disney attraction we would have been looking at an hour or longer wait.

>Nintendo's taking over the kiddie area surrounding ET in the Studios park.

Smart move, Woody Woodpecker is a shit mascot for the park and the kiddie zone is always empty aside from the ET ride.

Why did they never try to cash in on Spongebob? They seem to have the rights for it but the old Nick ride starred Jimmy Neutron and FOP.

No.

And why wouldn't you go alone? Yeah going with friends or family is nice, but it's a great experience going alone as well. You can make your own schedule, do stuff at your own pace, etc.

Just go by yourself. Going with friends is fun because you are doing fun things with your friends, but if you go alone, you can indulge yourself. When I went by myself, I watched every parade every day I was there.

Yes, I saw the same parade multiple times per day several days in a row. Wanna fight me about it?

DL.

Everything on the Rivers of America (including the DL Railroad) is closing for about a year due to construction of Star Wars Land.

...and I've yet to see Fantasmic since they put in the new dragon.

The one at WDW/MGM is safe and should be open for the coming year. Come a month from now, the west coast version will close down until about summer of 2017

Fun fact: the Mt. Fuji ride wasn't made because Kodak, the company that would sponsor the ride had a rival named Fuji Films.

>>78076172
Don't worry too much, the Mine Train isn't worth getting on if the wait's over 45 minutes.
>>
>>78081729
More like Kodak was one of the biggest sponsors Disney had in general, what with being branded as the official photography film of the Disney parks in addition to sponsoring the 3D films and the Imagination ride.

Figment was originally gonna be green, but they changed him to purple because green is Fujifilm's color. The yellow and red sweater/jacket Figment wears was a nod to Kodak.
