Post your favorite comic book of this year
i guess i might go with OP's too
archie reboot was also pretty cool
This counts as this year right?
Honorable mentions to Tokyo Ghost and Paper Girls.
This was the most fun I had reading a comic this year.
Are there more than eight people here who actually read comic books?
>>78032721
Mine too.
>>78033910
>only 6 unique IPs
there aren't even that many
We Can Never Go Home
Descender
Archie reboot
Rowan's Ruin
Roman Ritual
Negative Space
>>78032769
>>78034581
>archie reboot
You two better mean jughead
I know i'm probably forgetting something but nothing has hit me as hard as Paper Girls
>>78033910
so worried about forgetting shit that I didn't post
>>78034753
>Chip Zdarsky and Erica Henderson
I don't see how they possibly could
>>78037307
>bland waid vs. fun zdarsky
>>78037349
>liking Zdarsky
>>78037472
>preferring Waid
It's more boring than regular Archie was
>>78037510
Archie reboot isn't great either, but it's a fucksight better than Jughead
>>78037570
Not a chance.
At least Zdarsky knows how Archie works
>>78037612
Zdarsky writes a miserable Jughead. His version cares so fucking much.
>>78037612
I bet you think Sex Criminals is funny because "lol they drew a willy"
>>78037694
>Fraction
Fuck no.
>>78037681
Caring too much is better than boring.
Blubber
Usagi Yojimbo's comeback
The new Rogues! series
Omega Men
Head Lopper
The two good parts of The IslandBloodstrike
>>78037720
Jughead not giving a flying fuck is integral to the character, he was a good guy who was responsible in a pinch, but not the bleeding heart he's made out to be. The change is the personification of why the maudlin Degrassi shit doesn't work.
>>78037992
I'd rather that than boring as fuck Jughead.
>>78037720
Waid
>boring and bland
>not funny
>servicable art
3.5/10 overall
Zdarksy
>slightly entertaining, however uses shitty fantasy scenes to achieve some of this
>not funny
>Title character completely OOC
>horrific art
2/10 overall
Both are shit
>>78038142
>Waid gets more points out of nowhere
>>78038172
it's not Waid getting the points, it's the art, fucknut
My favorite thing all year. How man people do I have to sacrifice to what gods to get a regular old-school Marvel Family title from the same team?
New Runner-ups:
Paper Girls
Airboy
the Archie reboot titles
Prez
Descender
The Sculptor
Continuing Favorites That Haven't Missed a Beat Yet:
Saga
Usagi Yojimbo
Batgirl
Gotham Academy
Empowered
>>78038172
the art is better retard
>inb4 comics aren't a visual medium
It was a pretty bad year for comics
>>78038040
I'd rather have a Jughead that didn't fucking suck, but that's too much to ask.
DC:
Prez
Midnighter
Art Ops (vertigo counts fuck you)
Sheriff of Babylon #1
IDW:
Transformers v GI Joe
Fantagraphics:
Hip-Hop Family Tree book 3
Image:
The Dying and the Dead
Island Magazine
Monstress #1 was good
as always the continuing East of West
Marvel:
Karnak #1
Vision
>>78038497
>Art Ops
I'm totally gay for Mike Allred, but this book just isn't grabbing me.
>>78038558
it reminds me a lot of Milligan's Paradax, and that's why I like it I guess
>>78038497
>Hip-Hop Family Tree
Ed Piskor can't draw and he dresses like an idiot
This was the only good Fantagraphics comic released this year
>>78038748
figures the only fantagraphics /co/ would like has a dude in a costume on the cover
>>78032642
DC:
>Gotham by Midnight
>Grayson
>Midnighter
Marvel:
>Darth Vader
>Ms Marvel
>Vision
Image:
>Descender
>Paper Girls
>Starve
>Virgil
Other:
>High Crimes
>Invader Zim
>The Sculptor
>Nobody posted The King yet
Bad opinions, all of you.
>>78032969
This, exactly what i always wanted to do with a time machine.
>>78032969
>>78040054
>even Millarfags think it's shit
baka senpai
>>78039646
I only liked the Stokoe one.
>>78039646
They're not much in terms of individual issues, but this shit is some straight-up visual ART if you read it all at once.
The ending is perfect.
>>78032642
Godzilla in Hell was rad as fuck, I also think Ant-Man is pretty excellent.I'm also having fun with Jem and the Holograms, even though parts of it are kinda shit.
>>78040088
Who thinks it's shit? Seriously? Where is the evidence that Chrononauts was poorly received?
MODOK Assassin
And I'll never see him again :'(
>>78040636
>Millar's weakest plot in years
>characters that are more flat than a piece of looseleaf
This is the literal definition of wasting an artist
>>78040661
what is "any book written by Brian Michael Bendis," Alex
>>78040661
Ok. You didn't like it. That's one person.
>>78032642
So was the kid bullshitting about having powers?
Or was it just coincidence that someone died?
>>78040648
>secret wars
shit taste dude
>>78040819
I think we're meant to think he's bullshitting but it'll turn out he actually has powers
>>78032721
you would dave. I'm not even saying you're wrong, just that you would pick this
>>78040561
which is why i'm trade waiting on this, as bad as i feel about it
>>78032721
Does Moore ever come up with original ideas? bad choice by the way
>>78041059
It really is sublime - although yeah I do have an inclination toward Avatar Press and Lovecraft.
>>78041210
>bad choice by the way
Best Lovecraft story in any media in years.
And that's not faint praise
>tfw no comics this year matched the greatness of 2013's best comic of the year Forever Evil
>>78040819
>>78040911
He's definitely bullshitting.
Brian K. Vaughn's output was pretty generic this year
mark millar's huck and chrononauts are both bad, but huck even more offensively so
DC had a couple good books as did marvel, but some good in a sea of shit.
I'm counting Vertigo separate and saying their new line has been solid so far
IDW put out two things i liked, godzilla in hell and transformers v gi joe
valiant had ninjak
image other than vaughn was mostly decent, like monstress, descender and the hickman stuff
>>78041286
forgot dark horse, uh kindt's stuff was really good as usual. looking forward to dept h
>>78041286
>their new line has been solid so far
I want them to be the new top tier creator-owned publisher over Image, like old times
Purely out of nostalgia/brand loyalty, and nothing against Image
>>78041362
vertigo doesn't offer a better deal unfortunately in some areas but it offers a better deal in others
I see Vertigo now as being a tone. Like certain books have that sort of semi-indescribable vertigo tone. like how invisibles could only be published by vertigo because its such a vertigo thing
I miss Saucer Country.
Copra of course.
>dat issue that was basically just one long bad ass action scene
>>78041598
>tfw stuck reading copra in trades because some fuckers won't support the revolution and scan past issue 12
