A few things. But there was a lot of crap, and material that just didn't feel "Star Wars", and keeping it would have been a bitch for the new movies. I think the biggest loss is in the ancient stuff rather than the post-ROTJ stuff.
The thing I liked most in the EU was Genndy's Clone Wars, but it had so much Samurai Jack-tier ridiculous shit that I don't mind it not being canon. Shit like the lobster cannon, biker gang droids, and the ship that just smashed the ground to make shakewaves were all cool as shit, but I think a lot of it works better as just a non-canon interpretation of the clone wars. Hell, you could very well claim that stuff could all be exaggerated stories or myths from the war.
But the one thing I will forever be salty about is this glorious fucker no longer being canon.

I would be, if 'canon' had any real meaning these days, or held any true importance outside religious materials.
With all the problems in the world, which 'elseworld' or Star Wars is the 'true/important' one is pretty unimportant.
I prefer the old EU, and consider it the original and true article. I also consider it to be a 'finished' alternate universe. After all, it's not like the material spontaneously combusted. But then, a film every year? Hopefully, even if through sheer number of releases over the next couple of decades, there should be plenty of decent releases. I've always preferred visual mediums.
