Itt: you are in charge of making your childhood favorite book series into an animated cartoon, who would you get to animate and who would you cast

I don't know about casting but i'd love it if Ikuhara directed an animated Unfortunate Events adaptation. As long as he didn't go too overboard that is.

I've always imagined Tim Curry as Olaf.

I know the shape he's in as of late but in a perfect world he'd be well again to do him.

>tfw repeated sequences for children recognizing olaf and their guardians being dismissive
>tfw in The End when the sequence stops halfway through and the islanders arrest olaf

but where will ikuhara put the gays?

Artemis Fowl has potential, but I have no idea who I would cast, considering I do not know any Irish VAs. I know for a fucking FACT that I would try to corrupt the youth of tomorrow with a shortstack/minigirl fetish, though.
>>
>>78002928
Do you think Cartoon Saloon would do a good job animating it? They're pretty much all about Ireland, after all. I also feel like their geometric-looking visuals would match Colfer's matter-of-fact writing style.
>>
>>78003009
Yeah, that sounds about right. I still haven't seen Song of the Sea, but Secret of Kells was beautiful.

Let's see
The art style screams 'hand-drawn animation' so I'd have to look into that.

Not to sure on the cast either.
But I would love to see Charlie Adler as Principal Krupp/Captain Underpants.

Terrence Stamp as Olaf.
>>
Jim Carrey as Olaf was pretty good, I thought the whole casting in that film was pretty solid.

Netflix show is happening but the "teaser" and poster are confirmed fake breh. Also Violet's name is spelled wrong.

>>

Jim Carrey was good in certain aspects but it feels like the Olaf was not quite the same one in the books. I'm not sure Carrey's Olaf would be a good fit for the shit he pulls later in the series.

Artemis Fowl.

I remember something about a movie being announced like over a decade ago but I haven't cared enough to see if that's ever going to be a thing.

An animated adaption of a genius Irish criminal kid who fucks with supernatural beings would be fun times though.
>>
Technically I was in high school when I first read it, but I would like a faithful adaptation of Howl's Moving Castle.

No idea about animation studios, but
Kate Winslet as Pyanfar Chanur
Keith David as Khym
Kath Soucee as Hilfy
Sherri Stoner as Chur Anify
Generic Jamaican accented randoms as Mahendo'sat
Tim Curry as one kifish prince, Tony Jae as the other.
Frank Welker as all Stsho.
>>

>>
>>78007848

Nah, HP:s always got the wish fulfillment angle working for it. A Series of Unfortunate Events was always a bit too grim for that kind of popularity.
>>
>>78003245
It was a very unsettling turn for the series. If I remember correctly it signals the end of the first arc of the series, and ends with the orphans truly alone.
>>
>>78007917
Is it more grim than Hunger Games? I haven't read them

>>
>>78008017
Your mom doesn't know what a science-fiction book, with genetically engineered dragons, a space fungi from another planet and even the occasional time-travel plot.

That's about as Satanic as buttered toast.
>>
>>78007970
I think we're rare...
>>
>>78007938
>>78007938
Way way wayy more
Hunger games has the illusion of grimness, but the idea is that little girls put themselves in the super popular, super able Katniss. Its all about being a special snowflake, face of the resistance whos amazing at archery.

There is a form of wish fulfilment in ASOUE. Who didn't want to be as well read as Klaus or as smart as Violet? Its a different form of wish fulfilment, speaks to the outcasts rather than the general kid audience.

Fairenheit 451 if it was an animated movie.

Guy Montag - David Kaye (Optimus Prime, Transformers Animated)

Clarisse McClellan - Cristina Vee (Homura Akemi, Madoka Magica)

Mildred "Millie" Montag - Kath Soucie (Miriam Pataki, Hey Arnold)

Captain Beatty - Clancy Brown (Lex Luthor, Justice League)

Faber - Tom Kane (Magneto, Wolverine and the X-Men)

Granger - John DiMaggio (Sandman, Spectacular Spider-Man)
>>
>>78007931

Yup. After they left the village they traveled alone. I'm actually starting to remember how these all played out now. IIRC that was the... 6th? book in the series? I think it may have been one of my favorites.
>>
>>78008398
Its hard for me to pick a favourite. I have a soft spot for the carnivorous carnival as it was my first and has probably the most gruesome Theatre troop death.
Austere academy is also good but damn if Penultimate Peril isn't a fantastic send off.
>>
>>78002772
why do you do this to me anon? Every day I realize Tim Curry would be the perfect actor for something I lose a year off my life from the stress

Liar. We know Klaus survived at least.
>>
>>78009498
No, we know Kit's baby survived.
>>
>>78009562

Kit's baby survived too, but in the last book there's a line that says (I paraphrase) "many years later, Klaus would remember this moment as" something something something.
>>
>>78009599
Really?
I guess someone had to survive to help that baby and name it Beatrice

I made it through the first book around 11 or so before I dropped the series and never picked it up again. I decided I would rather go for a walk than read about people walking.
>>
>>78008207
That's when I read it. Even did my book report on the Silmarillion.

In hindsight I should have done some simple piece of shit instead like Warriors because I spent like 20 hours and that stupid report.

Probably a bit unconventional, but I'd love to see A Series of Unfortunate Events adapted by Genndy Tartakovsky or Laika
