They give you pretty much no inventory or storage space. New storage slots cost $5 and can't be bought any other way. Meanwhile, the whole thing is a loot grind game so you're going to max out inventory space within like 30 minutes of playing so you end up spending more time doing inventory management and figuring out what items that you've spend all this time grinding for that you're going to throw away to make more space to grind more items that you're just going to have to throw away unless you start shelling out cash for more inventory space.
It's fun, but if you're playing it for gameplay, it's worse than its contemporaries (Path of Exile, Diablo 3, etc.), if you're playing it for the collect-a-thon aspect, it takes way longer to grind out new characters compared to similar games, and all uniforms cost like $5-15 and also can't be bought with the in-game currency.
I mean, it's free so you might as well give it a shot. I had plenty of fun for the time that I played it but its the kinda game that you're either going to play super casually (something to mindlessly do while listening to a podcast) or invest a shitton of time and money into. There isn't much middle-ground.

That way you don't trivialize it for old players or make it impossible for new ones, while keeping the spirit of the point being that you need to contribute to the alliance. It's harder to check for is the only real downside.

Right now Mobile Muggas is in the lower end of the 2% - 5% bracket without everyone having done Alliance battle. If everyone in it had at least 20,000 points, the total would be over 2M.
The lowest of the top 100 Alliances in the Weekly ratings is at ~5M points. Even if it was at 50K, the current Alliance total wouldn't be breaking 2,230,000 points. At the most optimistic, you might push into the 0%-1% bracket.
