How is having a favorite publisher strange? It's not like Oni is anything like Marvel or that Avatar are like Archie

I don't have a top 5, but my favorite publisher is Valiant because nearly everything they've put out I like.

lmfao, is this real?
>>
>>77969644
I pray to God these are real quotes from the show...they're like something from Chris Morris' Brass Eye or Jam shows, fucking treblekek

>>77969541
Er, why? If you have several publishers who regularly put out comics you regularly buy...and make up the bulk of your collection...then surely you can deduce from that, : "hey! These guys put out my favourite stuff! So, it wouldn't be remiss for me to call them my favourite publishers!"
And I could care less about "casuals". They don't hurt you, I or the medium of comics on the whole.

Yep. I mean, I read Big 2 as well, but Valiant doesn't make me wish to pluck out my eyes after certain issues.

BOOM headshot! Surely DC aren't that much far behind, though? But they've both put out some good stuff over the past few years, and I buy pretentious hipster garbage almost exclusively. Like the new Howard The Duck series is great and doesn't dishonour Gerber's creation at all. As a for instance....

It's not. Ignore those faggots. /co/ gets a lot of first and second year comic readers that try to act all hipster with statements like that cause they haven't been reading comics long enough so they can still only read independents.

How does somebody really like both Marvel and Fantagraphics? Not trying to be a dick I'm just wondering.
>>
>>77983094
Literally the same list. I also don't have DC. Because I fucking hate DC.
>>
>>77983584
Can I ask why or how? Is it cause of the huge impact they've had on the industry or that they've published what most people would consider the most important stories of the genre?
>>
>>77983201
I have a lot of nostalgia for Marvel from when I was a kid, am a big continuityfag and love the idea of a 50+ year long ever evolving shared universe, and enjoy getting my weekly dose of people in tights punching each other and arguing black-and-white morality plays.

Meanwhile, I also enjoy the stuff published by fantagraphics and similar publishers because they tend to advance the medium, produce high-quality and thought-provoking stories, and give an accessible avenue into the alt-comics scene.

It's like how you can enjoy both big dumb summer blockbusters while still enjoying the latest experimental student projects coming out of Dutch film schools.

I like them for different reasons. You can enjoy both sci-fi novels and the classics or appreciate Bach while still jamming to the latest Top 40 banger.

In other words. I like shared universe superhero comics, so I read Marvel. I also like non-superhero comics, so I read stuff out of the indie and alt-comics scenes.
>>
>>77983584
I like DC. I'd put it at number 5 on that list. It's just that I don't have the same nostalgia or deep knowledge of it that I do for Marvel so it doesn't have the same draw, and I

I still read DC stuff. Grayson, Omega Men, and Prez are the three that I'm currently pulling from them, and I'll always check out whatever Morrison is currently pumping out from them. I just don't particularly care for their standard fare and mostly stick to their cream-of-the-crop stuff. Also Vertigo hasn't put out anything particularly interesting in years from what I've seen.

But like, when some obscure DC character pops up it doesn't really do anything for me, whereas it does for Marvel. Quality-wise they're pretty much the same, I'm just not that invested in their universe.

Number 6 I mean.

>Really do anything for me, whereas it does for Marvel. Quality-wise they're pretty much the same, I'm just not that invested in their universe.

Aw you poor poor fool. DC has is and will always had more quality stories and better storytelling than Marvel.

Marvel is drama and character driven.

DC is story and theme driven.
>>
>>77983619
Actually pardon me. I'm not particularly hating DC. I hate its fandom and Batnigger.

Superman, Flash, GL and BG are one of my favorite characters. I know "I fucking hate DC" is a bit off.

It's mostly the same writers and artists going back and forth between the two publishers, and its the creative team that dictates the majority of the quality of the book beyond editorial meddling, and editorial meddling comes and goes depending on the times. A couple years ago, DC's editorial was horrible to work for. Now it's the other way around. That shit oscillates with the times.

DC has plenty of drama and character driven stories. That you think they don't have any makes me question how much DC you've actually read.
