With Civil War you don't know who's going to win, if someone's going to die(which will be spammed as spoilers for a good few weeks after the movie drops probably) and how they move forward to Infinity War, plus there's all the other characters that still need to be built up before then.

Superman and company working together to put an end to Luthor's schemes was simple. Everyone expects that. But going in without the knowledge that Doomsday would be the force that unites the Trinity would have been stellar. You have the what without the how, and the possibilities fill you with jubilation, then you start piecing things together as you watch. Showing Doomsday was a bad move. Of course, with Luthor harvesting the remains of the World Engine and even Zod's corpse? Doomsday seemed par for the course. But you go into the movie giving Snyder, Terrio et al the benefit of a doubt and it's so much more fun that way. The trailer wasn't very good. 4 hours of footage were shot, with (probably) nearly 3 hours making it to the theatrical release. They could have shown so many other little things to keep with the energy of the trailer rather than having Luthor break tension by spinning the scene between Bruce and Clark in a complete 180. The jump cuts in the action were also bad. I'm certain that, if it was truly necessary, that final shot of the Trinity could have been achieved in a more intelligent way. That trailer has a lot of good. Superman and Batman, the interactions between their alter egos. It should have stayed with just that, and if scenes of Luthor were a must, they could have structured the trailer better to showcase his base appearance without hurting the atmosphere the trailer was seemingly aiming for. It seems like they rushed to put this out there and didn't actually think about how they could sell this beast. To their strength, Batman and Superman are on the title. I'll watch the flick like most of you here, but this wasn't a very good trailer. Having good things doesn't excuse the glaring bad.

Really, I'll say this for the trailer. It was pretty sloppily edited and most of the Doomsday footage was nonsense in the way it was edited together. It was clearly like 6 scenes being strung into one to make a coherent image, but it just looked bad especially Doomsday heat visioning Batman, who is suddenly out of the Bat-Mobile.
But the idea that the entire movie is spoiled because you know Luthor cobbles together Doomsday is hysterical to me. It's a two and a half hour film there are at least a half-dozen subplots that the trailers hint at that are still yet to be uncovered such as:
-Who's blackmailing Bruce Wayne.
-What is the resolution between Superman and the senate meeting.
-After everything is said and done, has Superman earned the public's trust.
-Literally everything regarding Lex Luthor who we still know nothing about.
-Does Superman compromise himself to earn Batman's trust or vice versa.
-Literally everything regarding Wonder Woman.
And so on and so forth. It really just speaks to the hysterically warped perspective that the Marvel movies have instilled in fans. Watching these movies isn't an experience anymore, these aren't films to be enjoyed on its own merits. Maybe crash a few trucks and such, it's should be just Cap and Falcon pursuing Bucky after all. I don't think Crossbones or Zemo would show up quite that early, the trailer didn't seem to suggest they didn't feel at least a bit guilty about whatever it was, so it should be something they caused mostly more than just being the target of some attack, maybe I'm overthinking it.

Guess we're not allowed to have alien invasion films in which the aliens actually destroy things now, because (teenage) Marveldrone's have never bothered to watch any action or sci-fi movies made prior to the MCU.
This is the only reason I can imagine for why MCUdrones would believe their cinematic junk food to be unsurpassable by literally anyone, including WB. They should watch some real movies; even stuff like Naruto and DBZ have far better writing and character development than Iron Man 2, 3, or the Thors. The only difference, beyond this, is that the MCU's audience is actually delusional enough to believe that they are watching genuine quality, while people who enjoy kung-fu flicks and battle shounen are substantially more self aware.

That trailer is the reason I didn't see it in theaters when it first came out, then heard the reviews and knew it sucked. I waited until I could get a free stream, when I found out it was even worse than I thought.
But a big reason why it sucked is because of what they did to Ultron. From the BvS trailer, it looks like they're doing the same thing with Lex.
