I've heard plenty of people talk about how filmation at the time was very open and very accepting of gays and lesbians and had many on staff. I'm sure a lot of the stuff that's been read into it was at least partially intentional. But things that make it gay are pretty obvious, beefcake as mentioned before, the campy tone that got even more campy as the show went on. there was also a total lack of relationships on the show, so that kinds leaves the characters to be blank slates to be projected on or shipped.
