How do you fuck up this badly?
>>
>>77936351
dude i have no fucking idea. my entire goddamned life i've been trying to push cool badass shit and decry dumbass toony shit, and none of you listened to me
well this is what fucking happens
>>
>>77936418
what the fuck are you talking about?
>>
That's what happens when you shelf a movie more than halfway through production and rework the whole concept.

If you're talking about the unfortunate art style, it fails to work because the cartoony characters clash with the photo-realistic backgrounds.
>>
>>77936488
>it fails to work because the cartoony characters clash with the photo-realistic backgrounds
how have you never seen a pixar movie before?
>>
>>77936488
it doesnt work because it's barney-ass flintstones-ass bullshit when kids have and will always want realism in their dinosaurs. jurassic park motherfucker. primal rage. and yeah even that disney movie Dinosaur where they were slightly humanized but still fucking dinosaurs. monsters. vicious awesome creatures. not goofy blobs
>>
>>77936556
It's also because the designs are bad.
>>
I'm not even that mad about the designs, but it felt like it was moving so fast that literally none of the characters really had time to leave much of an impression at all.
>>
>>77936351
They didn't push the rather neat "Dino Cowboy" angle.

I thought it was great t b h
The biggest problem was that the toony looking Dinos clashed so hard with the Photo realism of the the scenery
Other then that it was pretty good
>>
>>77936754
it wouldve been even worse if the backgrounds matched them
>>
So the character designs ruined the whole movie? It seems to be all anyone is talking about.

Why it's almost as though nobody saw the movie and everyone is just responding to the image and grasping for anything that sounds smart.
>>
>>77936488
>>77936589
Autism speaks.
>>
>>77936351
in that one shot the tooniness of the characters doesn't seem to clash so much with the background, but I haven't seen it yet so I don't know how constant that sense of the designs not looking right actually is
>>
>>77936418
>>77936488
Heaven forbid Pixar makes something that looks like a cartoon

the photorealistic sets were brilliant (I was seriously impressed by the waterfalls) and I warmed up to the character designs when i realized that the more cartoony designs made the dinosaurs that much more expressive. Imagine a realistic pterodactyl going on that paranoid, cultish rant. it wouldn't work at all. Also Pixar are very good character designers and the more fluid shapes of these designs allow they to work them into the cinematography better. for example, look at the op's pic and how the raptors' shape\posturing playing off of the rock formation beneath them.

Yes, we get it, samefag. You want us to know about your asinine theory that cartoons don't look good on realistic backgrounds despite a million other movies and shows doing exactly that perfectly well including but not even slightly limited to every other pixar movie ever.

We get it.

The style was off putting at first.
>>
>>77937140
I was >>77937004 and I was not bitching about the contrast between designs and backgrounds

in fact, I was observing that it didn't look nearly as bad there as people complaining about it led me to believe.

>laser focusing on one word you don't like as an excuse to ignore the entire argument
I don't know why I would expect any different.

>Heaven forbid Pixar makes something that looks like a cartoon

Yes, especially when everyone BUT the human looks terrible.

It's like anti-Toy Story in design,
>>
This is all ive got so far from this movie. and yes this post will have bias.
How the fuck does the kid and the dinasaur live getting hit by the same fucking thing that killed the dad. Also it's the exact same scene from the lion king when mufasa dies. Except replace horde of wildabeast with torrent of water and dirt with trees thrown in there. but of course because he risked his life for the boy that means he has plot armor and will only escape with a little cuts and bruise's after being thrown off a fucking waterfall.

The t-rex's also were terrible.

4/10 movie.

I'm not going to argue with you, whats the point if you're play just going to play the >samefag card
>>
>>77937183
Not that guy, but you know I'm sick of people capping that thinking it means anything...you can easily samefag by replying on your phone while at your computer and avoid the "you"
>>
They were not going for acurracy
>>
>>77937323
toy story's designs were all ugly too, and dumb and cartoony in the worst way
>>77937128
cartoons dont have to look bad. okay, they USUALLY do, and this does, but they don't have to
>>
It was THE LION KING meets HOMEWARD BOUND/MILO AND OTIS.

It was...boring.
>>
>>77937485
at least lion king knew how to stylize animals and still look cool
as did the jungle book. okay maybe the vultures were a bit over the top (and come to think of it, resemble those raptors up there) but nothing you can do would make vultures look cool
>>
>>77937394
Also everyone has MS Paint and 2 seconds making it even more meaningless.
>>
>>77937140
Let go of your asshurt for five seconds and realize that anything that can be done well can also be done poorly.

This is an example where the characters do not mesh with the background well. The characters are too far gone from any veristic base.

Also, when you make characters cartoony, you often make the background stylized as well, even if it is more detailed, in a way that harmonizes with the characters. This movie doesn't do that.

I'm with Vanelope on this one.

Anyone who thinks giant birds cannot be terrifying has never had to personally deal with an even slightly large bird.

Shit, we pretty much still have dinos. Cassowaries, secretary birds, condors.

OP is right, where are the feathers?!

Oh no, I'm absolutely certain bird like dinosaurs can be just as terrifying as naked Hollywood dinosaurs. But it also, in my opinion makes the age of the dinosaurs so much more fascinating to imagine.

The humans in Inside Out were very realistic and detailed but not going into Square Enix levels of realism. I would literally squee in excitement if Pixar does a human this realistic.
