It's trying to be the old shorts, but "modernized" which is very jarring. The animation is lackluster, and the writing lack oomf or energy.
It's very discouraging. I know people who worked on this show. I hope they never ask me what I thought of it.

Wanted to like it, but much as with WABBIT, the art was so ugly that it worked against its appeal.
For instance, Chilly Willy and Wally Walrus looked very good in the actual character design art, but as animated Chilly was bug-eyed uncute, and Wally's tusks were somehow treated as being separate from his mouth, turning them into some kind of impossible cheek-horns. Once you've realized what you're seeing, you can't unsee it.
Woody was drawn as 1940s Woody while Winnie was drawn as... 1950s Woody, essentially. It was completely confusing—I get the need to keep Winnie from being the boring stereotype from the 1970s comics, but why drop her ponytail when it looked just fine.

In fact Lasseter is shutting down their TV unit due to "abysmal quality" and is buying TMS from Sega as they are cutting 90% of the company as well as that TMS can always got proper funding funding to avoid another Blue Jacket (doing shows they do not want to do just to get the funding to do something they want to do).
