You know what, /co/? I honestly love the christmas threads.
For eleven months of the year it's thr usual hijinks and I wouldn't miss that for the world, but then we get a series of threads at the end of the year where we all put aside our differences and come together over puzzles, anecdotes, comics and just general cheer. It's so nice to see the hate train just put the brakes on for a little while.
on a side note, are there any drawfriends in this thread? I'm interested in starting a webcomic and if anybody's interested I'll gladly hash out the details.
> these fucking riddles
What do the numbers mean Mason? WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN?!
I have to go to college and I still haven't finished The Riddler's challenge...
Can someone repost the Riddler's challenge? I wasn't in the last thread and my phone wont co-operate.

>>77902589
Yeah, couple threads ago.
Hey anons, my little brother is getting into comics right now. Watched the Daredevil netflix show and enjoyed it. Any recommendations on runs? I haven't read much Daredevil myself, but I understand Bendis' run is pretty good, but that's all I know. Any help is appreciated.
>>77903510
Frank Millers stuff of course, The recent runs (Waid?), I'm sure there are some good minis out there. Daredevil: Yellow and Daredevil: Season One were okay
>>77903510
Personally I recommend reading the whole shebang because DD is in a unique spot of always being just popular enough to get renewed, but not so popular that editorial pushes mandates down it's throat. That being said if you want contained runs you can check out when Frank took over (huge shift), the return of Karen (pretty dark considering her origins), and then you can progress to Bendis' stuff all the way to current.
Jesus, I go to bed and work and these threads are flying along! Nice to see Riddler doing his thing this year.
Love this time of year on /co/! I'm on lunch so I can't story time anything but wanted to say I love all of you and when I get off work I'm gonna bend this thread over, story time wise

>>77901261
sorry for the ridiculous delay in response. I posted that at work.
the details are as follows:
the comic would follow the four-kid crew of Starcat, a mysteriously deserted, 100+ year old spaceship and their efforts to get home with an overarching mystery regarding what wiped out Starcat's crew, why they're on a spaceship so old why they're even there to begin with.
the crew are:
Bianca:
The eldest of the group and the effective captain. She makes it her duty to look after the others and control Starcat back to Earth. In spite of the respect her crew gives her, Bianca often feels the pressure of being captain all too sharply and occasionally has her confidence fail on her. part of her running character arc would be that she becomes a strong and confident leader.
Bianca is a relatively tall ginger-haired girl of about 16. she has a little spattering of freckles and small glasses. her default outfit would be based around a red coat
Craig:
Craig looks after Starcat's computer systems and reports directly to Bianca. He is the only one of the four to have access to the ship's computer in an administrative capacity.
As well as helping Bianca make hard calls and helping to get Starcat back on track, Craig is the most acutely interested in what happened on the ship. This often brings him into conflict with Ben and Bianca, but Craig is determined to unravel all the mysteries.
Craig is a relatively scraggly albino kid. He is 14 and his default outfit is based on an aviator's jacket and rough trousers.
Ben:
Ben is the closest thing Starcat has to an engineer.
He can often be found fixing the many problems with Starcat and keeping the engine in tip-top shape.
He is vital to the team's successful arrival on earth because of his extensive knowledge of all the mechanical systems and the safe operating limits of the massive rocket that powers Starcat.
Ben is the same age as Craig but far more forthright. He is also the most irritable.
cont.
>>77904449
continued:
Ben's outfit is a set of messy overalls.
Esther:
The youngest of the crew, 12 year old Esther is the communications and sensors officer aboard Starcat.
Esther possesses an incredibly sunny personality and will offer her support to any of the crew, irrespective of any tensions that might arise between the others. Esther is also the only one that Bianca feels she can be completely honest with, although she feels conflicted about sharing her woes with such a young and cheerful girl.
Esther also shares Craig's interest in the murky past of Starcat and often helps him with his investigations.
Esther is of Idian/Afghan extraction but speaks perfect english. her outfit is based around grubby t-shirts and casual clothes.
other details:
Starcat itself is a massive spaceship, comprised of two large hulls (hence the "cat" part of the name) connected by a single, central wing that also bears the single rocket that powers it through space.
Throughout the storyline, it is revealed that they are being followed by a stealth battleship, called USS Gemini, privately owned by the Aurora corporation, who are responsible for their being left on Starcat. The crew are part of a "control" group involved in testing expendable clone humans used to take spaceships home in the event that the crew gets wiped out. They were never supposed to survive and in the last few episodes of the comic, the crew of Starcat would get taken aboard Gemini for the grand finale.
>>77904231
Honestly I wouldn't start him with Miller's stuff. For newer comic readers I think Bendis or Waid are the way to go.
>>77905513
I feel like Waid is a great place to start.
It all comes across as very crisp and clean and on point and fun, and just amazing Daredevil.
>>77902555

So /co/ just to get a discussion going, what was your first secret santa gift from here?
For me, I was having a terrible December with illnesses in the family some years back. I had been on a short fuse for months and the girlfriend was trying to relax me whenever I got in, encouraging me to relax but I couldn't turn the brain off. She handed me a package and I didn't remember ordering anything.
In there was a copy of The Book Thief, with a message on the slip inside. I was stunned and she said "what is it?". It's strange. I was focused on all the negativity, thinking I had to push myself harder to 'fix' things. Work became depressing but I had to push myself through. I have a chronic illness and was being pushed out the door for it.
I smiled and looked at the girlfriend and this will sound so fucking stupid... but it put things into perspective. Somebody made the effort to do that, not knowing what it would mean. It was a random act of kindness. And it's nice to know that good people are out there.
The following couple of years, I left my job. I worked somewhere that valued me and paid me accordingly. Ever since, when Secret Santa threads came about, I gave a little back. I wanted to invoke that feeling in others. I don't namefag it up during the year, but I see the people who contribute and do storytimes. sometimes when we feel shitty, a comic dump can cheeer us up. It was important to me to pass that feeling on. So I do.
/co/ is love in every sense of the word. Merry Christmas all.

Yes! It was a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to your next riddles even though I won't submit another list. The challenge itself will be enjoyable. I can hear you groaning already, so without further ado:
4. This was the most fun puzzle, and the most rewarding to solve. I'm pretty sure I'd heard what song this was from some other trivia location, and at first I thought the numbers would correspond to the first of each line, not the real solution.
1. It was cute using /co/ itself as a part of the riddle. It was also the longest to solve, but once I figured out the trend it helped a lot in figuring out how the other riddles were structured.
3. Music! I was in band a few years ago, so this one really brought me back.
5. The answer was in the lyrics from song #4, which was cool. Took a bit of random guessing though.
2. I love picture puzzles, but this one was A) pretty easy, and B) only really solvable if you knew the roygbiv thing, which some anons might not have.
