For some reason I just never really watched Nick shows at all. That includes Avatar, Danny Phantom and Spongebob, though I would very occasionally watch Fairly Odd Parents but definitely not often.

This really shouldn't stop you from enjoying a show. Seriously I've never even seen SU but you could be missing out on something that's right up your street because of other people that don't even really affect you at all. You don't have to interact with the fanbase, you can watch it in peace if you really want to.

Ok I didn't watched it AT FIRST because it didn't appealed to me. I dont like the design, I don't really like the concept of "one useless but funny MC and 3 powerful aids",. I watch the show and sort of like it. That said, it's very heavily laden with commentary.
The messages are varied in nature and sometimes easy to ignore, but are sometimes very heavy-handed.
There's also the whole ordeal with the obvious lesbianism and avocation thereof. Anytime it's brought up to the creator, she handwaves it by pointing out that they are nonbiological aliens, and therefore have no gender, and therefore cannot be gay.
