Daily reminder that there's no difference at all between Batman and Superman in terms of characterization.

Youre a silly bitch, man.

Yeah. They're both heroes.

Superman is cheerful and lives to save people.

Batman is brooding and lives to fight crime.

Superman
>Jovial
>Reasonable
>Gregarious
>Patient
Clark has most of these qualities but is a bit more of a Stick in the mud

Batman is a complicated animal, as Wayne (who is not a "mask" like casuals think, anyone raised by Alfred would not dislike entertaining people and being gregarious) shares these qualities, however even as Bruce Batman is far more impatient, smug, witty, and ruthless.

I kind of agree that the differences between Bats and Supes are usually exaggerated. People act like they are opposite poles, when on the spectrum of heroes, they are more-or-less on the same end. Both of them are unambiguous good guys who have similar moral codes. Neither of them likes taking the lives of enemies. Both of them break the law, but believe that ultimately, formal justice should be the final arbiter, and they shouldn't themselves play judge and jury. They are both a far cry from, say, Punisher, or even more moderate characters like Cyclops or something.

They have the same code, the major difference is just demeanor. Batman is all grim and shit. Superman is all sunny and shit.

Both of them think that saving lives takes precedence over catching bad guys. But yeah, Batman's mission is specifically about saving lives through stopping crime, whereas Superman just sort of saves people in general.

But, like, if Batman saw someone threatened by a volcano, he'd still help. He wouldn't be like, "That's not a crime. A volcano can't form intent. I don't do that shit, man." It's just that, he didn't build his tools specifically for those sorts of tasks. He built them for stopping mobsters.

except batman is Lawful Good and superman is Neutral Good

Good post.

>sunny
DCAU Batman used this exact word when contrasting him with Marvel to describe Marvel. "Sunny" in comparison to Bruce, though, I guess (who isn't). This seems to get exaggerated, as you said, however.

>Batman is Lawful Good
There's no way Batman, as depicted in stuff like Year One is anything but Chaotic Good, or at least anything but Lawful. Neutral Good seems like a good fit for Superman since he varies a lot due to how Chaotic he is in the Golden Age and New 52 stuff (early career and current depowered arc, particularly), to being more moderate at other times.

Superman wants to inspire others do to good.
Batman wants to instill fear so others will be to afraid to be evil.

I forgot where I heard this but it went like "If people saw Superman in a bar they'd be happy to see him and buy him a drink but if they saw Batman at a bar, they'd be worried of he's there for them"

You could probably say that about the whole Justice League in general.
