eh, often the comic seems ery concerned in giving as positive as possible a view of her religious background. Even supposed generationalcultural conflicts between her parents and kamala are used as a way to showcase how everyone is really nice and good people.
With other characters writers don't have the same concerns with not making them look bad and family drama is one of the easiest ways to tell a story so there they go.
