It's awful but it's like there's not much you can say about it now that ODY-C's out. Sorta makes you pine for the days when Sex Criminals was the worst comic Fraction's ever written.
The main character recites one of the most known and quote passages in Lolita to show the woman (and the readers) how much of an intellectual and well navigated reader he is.

I'm really not a fan. It's not an outright terrible read, but it's pretty bland and boring over all.
I find it inherently funny that a story literally all about sex still has to tiptoe around actually directly portraying sex.
I think I recall seeing a vaguely obscured erection at one point in the first volume, does it ever get more daring than that?

It's fucking boring. Like most of Fraction's work. The art is kinda charming but not really that good. Overall it's the comics equivalent of soggy white bread.

Sex Criminals, like most of the garbage that Fraction and Zdarsky work on, tries so very hard to be the quirkiest quirk quirky comic that ever quirked. They are the male comics equivalent of someone like Felicia Day. They make me want to vomit.
the beginning of the story where the protagonist is just finding out about her powers is cool
when they introduced her boyfriend, the story took a dive and I dropped it

All of these motherfuckers are wrong. Sex Criminals is really good. Is it the best thing Fraction's ever written? Fuck no, that's Casanova now and likely forever. Is it the worst thing he's written? No, that's Satellite Sam.
What it is is a very good exploration of sex and relationships, with some really good jokes and the ability to give you a gut punch when you least expect it. It's an 8/10 for me.

Pretty solid. The stuff about depression hits super close which I enjoy. I think it's finding it's feet once Fraction/Zdarsky realized it wouldn't be a one and done mini so the lore stuff is shaky but getting there character work makes up for the shortcomings

I already know that though and kindly expect it to get over it already.
It refuses to and I get really fucking tired of it really fucking fast.
It probably would've helped if the characters or the story were interesting in any capacity. But they are just normal guy and normal girl and even when the plot tries to get quirky later on it still seems hollow as hell.
