Why is this so shit?
>>
>>77812660
Tynion

26 issues so decompression

Harper, Tim, and Jason existing

JPV about to exist again

All of the above + Dick and Cass having their names on the same list is terrible

Mother is yet another villain who talks a lot to the hero but at least she's fucking petty about it
>>
>>77812660
>Cass keking steph with harper.
>>
>>77812660
It's a DC weekly, other than 52 they have always been shit.

It's your fault for falling for it by being a Cassfag or whatever reason you decided to invest in this shit (possibly for feels or Batfam interaction or some shit).
>>
>>77812792
Countdown and world's end are great
>>
>was slightly upset Damian was getting left out yet again
>get around to reading it
wew, dodged a bullet there
>>
>>77812827
Anon don't say awful things like that, you might get some gullible fool to actually buy either of those awful series.
>>
>>77812911
MFTE, now I'm thankful there is no reason for me to suffer through this.
>>
>>77812911
Same.

I remember when they first dropped the cover for Batman Eternal #1 and being irritated that Dick and Damian weren't on it.
3-4 months into the story, I was relieved by them not being there.
>>
>>77812911
I know there were some people complaining about the lack of Best Robin but I wonder how they feel now knowing it's shit.

It seems I've got my answer now anyway.
>>
I'm enjoying it a lot! Then again I torrent all DC titles, so not having to pay prolly makes me more forgiving.
>>
>>77812989
But Jason is in the book
>>
>>77813008
No
>>
Doesn't Robin War start this week?

Hopefully this shit will be much better.

And plus side, it will have Damian. Hopefully in a good story to boot.
>>
>>77812994
Man, idk, it's so bad I dropped the storytimes a few issues back. Free or not, it's not worth wasting my time and raising my blood pressure
>>
>>77813008
>Implying that Red Hood isn't worst Robin.

He would be a forgotten memory if not his resurrection.
>>
>>77813008
HA!
>>
>>77813025
Yeah Robin War #1 comes out this Wednesday and Grayson #15 the next.

I will say that both previews are better than BRE #1 and its preview, so that's something...
>>
>>77813036
>second worst trip fag has shit opinions.
Who would have guessed
>>
52 >>>> Batman Eternal > Futures End >> Trinity >>>>>>>>>>> Countdown >> World's End

Where does BRE fit in?
>>
>>77813025
I have high hopes for Robin War, the talent pool for it is better. Isn't King plotting it?
>>
>>77813069
For now below trinity but it coils go up or down its only a third of the way over.
>>
>>77813083
There's probably tons of people who are involved with it, at least the people writing the individual issues, but King's scripting Robin War #1, #2, and Grayson #15
>>
>>77813083
he plotted the whole event and is scripting robin war in particular. i imagine involved writers chimed in ideas too, but the only bad one of that lot is fucking lobdell and pfefier
>>
>>77813065
>>77813083
>>77813115

Woot!

It goes without saying but I am hype.
>>
>>77813069
On either side of Trinity, depending on how the rest goes. For all we know the ending to BRE will completely suck like Batman Eternal's did.
>>
>>77812660
I'm not reading this but at this point in the game (I mean I still think it is early anyway) is there anyway to salvage this sinking ship?
>>
>>77813115
>>77813158
Hype levels remain high, I haven't been let down by The King yet. I trust him fully to make this event awesome, especially because he wants to make sure Dick gets his dues.

Lobdell isn't so bad when he's not allowed to plot things himself, I enjoy him when he's just doing fun action shit.
>>
>>77813115
>Grayson #15
King's name is nowhere to be found in the solicit for that issue.
>>
>>77813218
Well we're about to get 9/26, which is one third of the way.

Valentine's issue were the best in every way, so if she writes everything else, maybe giving an issue or two to Seeley, then it might be pretty good.

Though tbqh the flashbacks with qt Dick Robin and Bruce are consistently good.
It'll probably make a good storytime by itself later.
>>
>>77813356
Which is why I was confused when the preview page said he was the one scripting.

Though it makes sense now that we know Seeley wrote Grayson 14 and 13.
>>
>>77813218
>I'm not reading this but

No shut the fuck up. If you want to talk about it, go fucking read it.
>>
>>77813433
I don't feel like getting invested in this shit but hey.

>>77813379

I got my answer anyway.
>>
I wish DC would stop pulling Dick back into shit Batman stories

It's not like people would miss him if he didn't show up while his Grayson stories are noticeably fucked over by having to keep up the continuity
>>
>>77813560
>He wasn't around for people complaining about no Nightwing in Batman Eternal.
>>
>>77813560
Dick being away from the batfamily is one of the biggest complaints about Grayson in general, especially when he was kinda dead to everyone.

If being in the shitty weeklies keeps his book more off in it's own corner and stops people from whining about the lack of batfamily interactions, then I'm ok when him being in shitty weeklies.
>>
>>77813582
People wanted him?

Fuck man why not be happy with Batman and the ten Dick clones instead of having to drag Grayson in

DC should just let Dick do his own thing for a while instead of having to be subservient to Bruce who already has like thirty sidekicks
>>
>Another story where Bruce has a horrible secret that will shake up the Batfamily forever
>Nah jk, nothing changed
>>
>>77813649
Yes people want him there?

Man, he's been chained to Batman's side again for a about 20 years now. Of course they aren't going to tolerate Grayson taking Dick away from Batman and everyone else. These are the kind of people who would've whined 30+ years ago when Dick became more of a Titans character than a Batman one and ~20 years ago when Dick became a Batman character again instead of a Titans one.

>>
>>77813764
This is more Tynion's baby though.

But Tynion IS Snyder's student so he might've picked up teacher's nasty habit of that or "haha he totally didn't... OR DID HE!?"
>>
>>77813732
It's a shame. Dick has so much potential and gets talked up so much as being this likable guy and awesome leader by everyone in the comics yet never does anything but ride on Batman's coattails
>>
>>77812707
>26 issues
Really? Not 52 as usual?
>>
>>77813959
Yes, they said they learned from the last weekly and cut down on the number of issues so there will be less fluff.
You can kinda tell cause the plot just picked up a couple issues ago when it took Batman Eternal nearly twice that long.
>>
>>77813322
lobdell is only doing a tie-in as opposed to an issue connecting directly to the main story, so it's easy enough to ignore.

honestly this makes me wonder if rh/a will be moved to bat offices officially soon. it's currently edited by superman office editors despite being a batbook, but it's one of the lower selling batbooks. i believe that doyle can shine any turd and make it look at least half-way presentable.
>>
>>77813052
>He would be a forgotten memory

Not with his cowl and cape sitting in the memorial display, reminding you of him in nearly every story.
>>
>>77814183
Valentine has written the best Jason in literally years, so I want them to drop Roy and bring Jason over to Doyle just for her. Maybe do something similar to her Catwoman run and there you go, a readable Jason.
>>
>>77813990
i really like this idea. the gimmick of 52 was that it was a 52 week long mini. but not all weeklies need to be as long.
>>
>>77814205
valentine deserves a new batbook in general really.

im hoping for a cass solo with her as writer. a cass/harper/steph book with some batwoman would be GOAT tier though
>>
>>77814298
I think the general good bet is the Batgirl Inc or something close to it, I could support that if Valentine is writing. I was really impressed with what she managed to do with Catwoman, having her leave it was a crying shame

>>77814205
I like Roy and Jason together, there isn't really a reason to break up their duo just to bring them to the Bat offices. I mean, how the hell did it become a Superman editorial book anyway? None of them have anything to do with Superman. What team is on the GA books?
>>
>>77812660
Tynion thinks that reducing Dick, Tim, and Jason into avatars of Bruce's heart, mind, and strength is a good idea. Also he kept Blobdell's fucktarded origin for Tim.
>>
>>77814374
>Tynion thinks that reducing Dick, Tim, and Jason into avatars of Bruce's heart, mind, and strength is a good idea

All the more reason to get Dick away from them
>>
>>77812660

>Why is everything since Nu52 started so shit?

fixt
>>
>>77814371
>I mean, how the hell did it become a Superman editorial book anyway?

Because Teen Titans is under the Superman group too, and Kory and Roy were Titans characters. RedArse just inherited the old editors when it was relaunched from RHatO.
>>
>>77814371
Snotty wrote Superman for awhile so they probably gave RHATO to the same editor.
>>
>>77814374
>Tynion thinks that reducing Dick, Tim, and Jason into avatars of Bruce's heart, mind, and strength is a good idea.

Funny how after years of spouting it on /co/ when talking of the Robins, the moment the books openly recognizes the fan head canon /co/ immediately pulls a 180 and starts saying it's shit in true contrarian spirit.
>>
>>77813008

If he says the best Robin is not in it and Jason is there, then obviously he does not consider Jason to be the best Robin.

Simple fucking logic, idiot.
>>
>>77813025

>>
>>77814646

No he came back to life earlier this year.
>>
>>77814646

>>77814601
I mean, simplifying them in fan discussion is one thing and annoying enough. But it sucks when in-story they actively reduce them to generic traits and explicitly state it, at best it's cheesy.
>>
>>77814522
Now that's not really true.
>>
>>77814190

At least now we have a retort for whoever spouts it in 2k15z
>>
>>77814860

Lurk moar, newfag. It's been going on for years. And it isn't inherently a bad thing since we already know Batman and Robin Eternal won't be a good story, but it is bound to be one of those entry level books for casuals, you know like all of Jeph Loeb's Batman shit still is to this day, so simplifying Robins to these people on a page is alright. Hamfisted, but alright in terms of easy exposition.

Tynion and doing a twelve-issue story in twenty-six issues instead. Still, Seeley and Valentine have made it somewhat amusing to read. Orlando couldn't sadly.

Also doesn't help the art sucks. Daniels is alright, but some of the other artists try to be him or Pat Gleason and well they fail at it.

I do like the villains are more refined here and it's more a family adventure ala Gates of Gotham.

I just wonder once Batman/TMNT starts up will Tynion hand the reigns off to another for months he has that going on?

I'm an oldfag was reading comics back when we voted to kill off Jason. I felt kind of guilty about it, but I loved the way they had Jason's death haunt Bruce over the years.

Then when they finally got the idea to resurrect him, I was intrigued. Cautiously optimistic. I mean, the resurrection of Jason Todd? That could be awesome, if done right. But comic writing is comic writing...

And, of course, they did the cliche thing and brought him back as some edgy grimdark asshole who's out for revenge. And now they've done so much retarded shit with his character that it's just... all fucked. It's all fucked.

Feels bad man. They never should've brought him back.

My biggest problem is that the flashback story about Scarecrow started in media res, so it comes off as a flimsy excuse to get Batman and Dick to Europe.

Also, Cass jobbed twice in the last issue, once when she got cheap shot-ed by an old woman and again by a bunch of mind slaves. I guess nu52 Cass is just weaker, since the old version soloed huge mobs all the time. It would have been believable if she was hit while protecting Harper.

>>77819044
eh i don't blame them for watering cass down. her powers, as puckett defined them, were broken as hell. she was basically strong enough to be considered a meta-human on a power scale.

even with a couple jobs they've still conveyed her as an extremely competent fighter and that's good enough for me.
>>
>>77812660
Well, there are a lot of reasons. The book exists to push the editors and executives' ideas, I think.

>Dick will never be as good as Bruce! Also we're going to ignore the fact that he had his identity revealed to the world and was tortured until he was nearly dead, so that we can make him look bad for choosing to infiltrate Spyral instead of making him sympathetic!
>We need to put Spoiler in a book or something! And we want her out of Catwoman so it can be terrible again!
>We need Jason to be everywhere, he makes money and he's a big part of the Batman franchise these days. So let's make sure to get him in here and be as cool as possible.
>Tim needs to interact with Gotham stuff more, also people keep hating on Lobdell's work with the Teen Titans' origin for him, so let's bring it back and prove how great it really is!
>We NEED to shove Harper into everyone's faces so that readers will understand just how awesome Snyder's ideas are!
>Also let's bring back Cass and JPV so that we can continue to oversaturate the market with Batfamily books and characters, since Marvel is eating up our sales!

Only good thing to come out of this series is the DaddyBats and qt Dick flashbacks, which are surprisingly amazing. Really fun.
>>
>>77812792
>It's a DC weekly, other than 52 they have always been shit.

>>
>>77820157
>even with a couple jobs they've still conveyed her as an extremely competent fighter

No they haven't. Nu52 Cass is a chump. They kind of tried in the first issue, but after that she's really not been portrayed as remotely special. Average cape doing average cape things.

Like, look at the last issue. Harper Row does as good a job at fighting as she does. Harper fucking Row.
>>
>>77820407
>We need to put Spoiler in a book or something!

That's what I was thinking the whole time. "If this was the pre-FP Cass, this whole fight would be just one page".

>>77812660
Speaking as a card-carrying cassfag, I was tentatively on board when she popped up in issue one, I really was. Her new costume looked pretty cool, she didn't speak, and they kind of tried to showcase her even if they did it in a clumsy way. I thought they were taking their first shaky steps and they'd improve as they picked up the pace.

They didn't. Everything after that has been just lazy and shitty. She's done nothing actually cool during the whole series so far, none of the crazy fuckoff stunts she was famous for. On top of that, she's been ball-and-chained with Harper Row, a character that nobody likes, and David Cain is either nonexistent or turned into a completely different character. This series is really not doing a service for me. The best I can hope for is that somebody better comes along later, ignores or retcons all of this, and does her right this time.

Fuck off.

You must be new here?

Ignore him
>>
>>77812660
Because most of the characters in it are shit.

Harper? Tim? Jason? Jean Paul Valley, if people in this thread are right?

The plot is bad too, but it would be more tolerable if most of the people weren't bland (Harper) or downright insufferable (Tim).
Cass and Dick have been written better, but they aren't just existing or annoying yet.
>>
>>77820834

He's going to be the "perfect" Robin isn't he?
>>
>>77824657
If Bruce actually tried it, then probably.
>>
>>77822536
I would have preferred if Dick and Cass went to Europe while Jason and the girls messed around in Gotham.
>>
>>77824657
It's Harper
>>
>>77824657
I will be shocked if Snyder and Tynion made it so Bruce actually did something like that instead of going "JK no he didn't lol" like usual.
>>
>>77824802
Well she was on the list for some reason so sure.
>>
>>77820637
> beats on Dick
> Fights Orphan to a stand-still in #2
> Beats Jason until he pulls out some weird edgy 90s technique..
> Literally disarms Orphan in #5
> Took out 12 goons, took on the "boss" (head ballerina) was beating her when ballerina's teacher blindsides her.
> Said goons then began focusing on already softened head.
> Harper only takes out five because she smacks one with a guitar, drops a chandelier on others. .

I think she's doing good anon.
>>
>>77821002

They're "Cluemastering" (make him the mastermind or surprise boss fight before the final boss) David Cain in this. If it hasn't been apparent since the start of the series.

He's shown up once in #6, and might be Orphan. Plus it's obvious he's Batman in this pic >>77815701
>>
>>77824824

I just get the feeling JPV will be the "evil" Robin now to replace Jason as the "black sheep".
>>
>>77826132
That would be hilarious since they can barely differentiate between the four Robins they have now, especially Dick and Jason.
>>
>>77826132
Then what will Jason do
>>
>>77826310
This is problem. Too many Batcharacters, not enough books/teams/writers.
>>
>>77826377
I'm sure we'll have more batfamily shit once Gotham Academy and WAR get cancelled.
>>
>>77826536
Unless it ends in massacre, I'm sure we'll get few characters transplanted to other books.
>>
>>77826565
Like what?
>>
>>77818051
It's a complicated mess and the main reason new readers can't get into the X-Men. Lobdell is a hack.
>>
>>77819802
The story goes that DC wanted to do an AIDS psa. They had a suggestion box in the office for ideas. Starlin just wanted to kill Robin so he pitched using Jason for the story. Other writers wanted to have it be Jimmy Olsen but the actor that played Jimmy on the old tv show was gay. The PSA was canceled.
>>
>>77813036
Eh, the Valentine issue wasn't bad. But I agree about the rest

>>77826536
>once Gotham Academy and WAR get cancelled.
why you say dis ;___;
>>
>>77826597
I'm sure there are some characters who are popular from Gotham Academy? And I doubt they'll whack Duke.
>>
>>77824657
Tim was the atheist messiah in that Azreal crossover just before Flashpoint.
>>
>>77826972
...What?

Somebody please elaborate because why would that even come up
>>
>>77826856
>why you say dis ;___;
Because Gotham Academy is below cancellation level and I doubt it'll go up through the third arc, and WAR is also getting to cancellation level.
3-4 volumes for stuff like GA and WAR is pretty good, anon.
>>
>>77826536
>once Gotham Academy and WAR get cancelled.

Maps must move on. Her character and light must endure!! She must become the next Robin or at the very least have a happy ending with her waifu the grapple gun.
>>
>>77828222
I'm holding out hope in Robin War boosting 'em all

>108 We Are Robin 5 $3.99 DC 21,243

>131 Gotham Academy 11 $2.99 DC 16,560

Looks like WAR 5 is doing better than GA 5 did, though, even with a higher price:

>100 Gotham Academy 5 $2.99 DC 20,844

Looks like GA is not long for this world, but I hope WAR can stay stable
>>
>>77829086
Maps/Damian is endgame
>>
>>77829178
I've really enjoyed Gotham Academy because it's too often we get a book like that which gets to play with the gothic Batman setting. People like to compare it to "Hogwarts in Gotham" as an insult but it's probably one of its greatest strengthing in my opinion. I don't know why I could never get into We Are Robin. It's not awful by any stretch, but so far it only feels like a pretty good tesm-up book worth storytiming, but not personally buying.
>>
>>77829245
Yeah I definitely agree about WAR, but the James Harvey issue was fantastic and it has a lot of potential. Last week's issue was better though and I'm liking the design of the Court of Owls dude with the giant scythe
>>
Last couple issues were pretty legit.

52 started off as a total slog too you know.

The arc is called Judgement on Gotham. It was dumb.
>>
>>77830191

Of course he was without sin. He was a virgin until right after Gates of Gotham
>>
>>77815057
This here is shallow, poor writing 101. Do not do.
>>
>>77826033
>beats Dick
>fights an unknown new entity to a standstill
>loses to Jason
>beats the unknown new entity previously fought
>loses to ballerinas
>gets her shit pushed in by ballerinas
>is, by simple division, a whopping 2.4 times as effective as a girl who doesn't know how to fight

I think she's doing fucking terribly to be honest (family, shaking my head). Only net positive on that list is "beats Dick". Like I said, they stopped trying after the first issue.
>>
>>77829178
GA has never been a high floppy seller, but rumor is it does well digitally and the first trade had high sales too. plus next arc is going to have a lot of big name writers and artists involved. there is some investment on this title.
>>
>>77830840
Poor New 52 Tim wouldn't pass at all, poor thing
>>
>>77834480
>loses to Jason
Did she really though? Or was she just playing with him until he decided to bring out the edgy gauntlet spikes?
>>
>>77835989

Looks to me like she's eating shit pretty hard, bro.
>>
>>77836418
Well he's a magic ninja so it makes sense
>>
>>77836487

Cassandra is supposed to be a better magic ninja.
>>
>>77836622
What if JAson uses his magic blood swords

Can she out magic ninja him then
>>
>>77836740

That might have actually been a cool fight so we can't have it in this series. Only shitty, underwhelming fights allowed.
>>
>>77836925
>Jason using his shitty swords
>cool fight
>>
>>77836418
>Then I'll just have to THROW OUT STYLE!

Literally how Adam Beechen wrote her losing to Tim Drake in the issue where they wrote her out of the story. Holy fucking shit.
>>
>>77836418
Cass has always been pretty unable to deal with anything supernatural/metahuman. If Jason had used his mystical shit to get an edge, I'd be able to take it a lot better, but he's just straight up beating The One Who Is All at the ONE THING SHE'S CAPABLE OF.
>>
>>77836966
I'll take that over the shitty arm claws any day.

>>77836980
It's amazing how hard it seems to be for writers to remember that that shit doesn't work on her.

It's like they've all read the same Marvel story where Wolverine beats Mr. X by "fighting on instinct" and just thought the same shit is an universal cure on precognition, when it only worked on X because he was specifically a telepath and was reading their conscious thoughts during the fight.
>>
>>77837010

Well, it seems her Nu52 title is One Who Is Average. Sideshave the Tumblerina was almost keeping pace with her, and I don't even remember if she's been in a fistfight before.
>>
>>77836980

Here's a goddamn hint. Cass doesn't know what a "style" is. She doesn't have a martial-arts encyclopedia in her head. She doesn't predict based on a formal martial arts education, she reads movements and body language. Like microexpressions for the whole body.

If you quizzed her, she couldn't tell capoeira from savate. All she would see is, "inner calf tensing, hip rotating, thigh rising, shin twisting" or whatever. Using "no style" as if it'll somehow blind her is utterly retarded.
>>
>>77837114
>Tumblerina

Honestly, I don't understand why Cass isn't their Lord and Savior.

She's a Woman Of Color illegal immigrant abuse victim with a learning disability and social anxiety. She's just about the entire goddamn checklist, AND she can totes beat up teh boys.

But nah, somehow not pander-y enough for them.
>>
>>77837189
They've been bitching about her being gone for the past four years, anon.
>>
>>77837217
Have they? All I've heard them cry about was Steph. I thought it was just us that wanted Cass back.
>>
>>77837189
The batfamily being in shambles and half of them missing for the first few years of the New 52 is why 95% of the dc comics fandom hates dc and the new 52.
>>
>>77837189
they would have to read comics to learn about her and Batfandom is an incredibly odd hivemind of headcanons only vaguely informed by comics
>>
>>77837244
Yeah, but Cass was sidelined since OYL.
>>
>>77837262
Yeah and they don't like that either. Cancelling her solo and wanting to kill Dick is why they hate Didio too.
>>
>>77837274
I feel like I remember getting yelled at a lot for wanting Cass as Batgirl over Steph during BQM's run. Have we gone full circle?
>>
>>77836418
Why is Jason so terrible?
>>
Cover looks like it was made by an edgy 13 year old
>>
>>77837580
Not his best work, yes.
>>
>>77837571

Resurrected as a gimmick, then passed from writer to writer, none of whom had any idea what to do with him and all of whom tacked more bullshit on him until what we ended up with was just a vague blob of shit whose only character trait was being "the bad boy of Bat family" (and Damian was doing even that better).
>>
>>77837742
>whose only character trait was being "the bad boy of Bat family"
So that's why he keeps wanting to drink
>>
>>77835797
Tim in the New 52? lolwut?
>>
>>77838144
I think Raven made him bang Cassie or Solstice
>>
>>77838214
Tim hasn't been in comics since Flashpoint. What are you talking about?
>>
>>77838303
He's shit and irrelevant. It's time to love somebody else.
>>
>>77838355
I do but I will always have spite about this.
>>
>>77837571

Because he's so adorable as Bat-Punisher lite.
>>
>>77837571
Fuck you
>>
>>77837571
Would you lurk tumblr and post it on /co/ to prove that Jason is shit?
>>
> Cullen is still looking for help on the streets of Gotham.
> Stephanie is still in the Batcave wondering where the heck is everyone?
>>
>>77840453

You know when you look at stuff like this you start to realize exactly why Jason's fanbase likes Jason in the first place. They're basically an evolved version of the Twilight/Supernatural fanbase.

If Stephanie has found her way into the mansion and convinced Alfred to let her stay with free high class food, I would forgiven a lot from this book. Damian would be observing her from "stealth mode" the whole time.
