What made early Spongebob so good /co/?
It was written for a general audience, keywords. Most cartoons are great when you actually write them and target not just kids, but adults too. Plus, it's charming to think there's an underwater society filled with marine life mingling about, with their own ways of life and culture.
Spongebob was crack for me as a kid.
Nick made a compromise because this show along with Gumball was supposed to be more adult
So they made it 50/50

Well rounded characters who were designed to play off and compliment one another. Flanderization is what ultimately unseated the show.
Also, a lot of the plots were almost like something you'd see on an adult sitcom except re-written to be age appropriate, like the Squirrel Jokes episode, just swap out "squirrels" with "black people".
Simple and effective jokes.
The ingredients for old Spongebob are as follows:
A pinch of adult humor
3 teaspoons of chopped fun
A cup of love
Mixed together with the most important piece of all: 4 heaping pounds of freshly groundvirgins
What are the comfiest Spongebob episodes from the early seasons, /co/? I'm talking about the kinds of episodes you watch while it's cold outside, you're sick and you wrap yourself up in a blanket while you sip hot tea or cocoa.

They weren't flanderized yet

Obviously you get an old Spongebob VHS and pop that sucker in. Preferably anything from Season 1.
Anything before Squidward was actually the protag you feel bad for.

I like the snow episodes. The one where they have a snowball fight is good.
The best part of early spongebob was the delivery.

So... Sandy is black, despite of being from Texas?
