Finally saw the Peanuts movie, and I found it was just 100% perfect. Can we have a Peanuts thread?
What did all of you think about it?
>>
Quick, best and worst character?
>>
Peppermint Patty best girl.
>>
>>77763654
>Best
Peppermint Patty
>worst
I suppose Lucy.
>>
Completely agree, OP. I went into it almost out of obligation, just because I loved Peanuts when I was a kid and felt like I owed this movie a try. I walked out absolutely loving it and remembering WHY Peanuts was so awesome. They did a wonderful job of capturing the spirit of the characters while still making it fresh and fun.
>>
>>77762999
Those are just Satan trips upside down. You know the ending was too happy.
>>
>>77763894
It warmed my heart, but yeah, a part of me was thinking "this is a bit too happy to be a satisfying ending".
>>
>>77763894
>>77764112

>Sequel made and released in a few years.
>Picks up immediately after the first film ends.
>The world collapses around Charlie Brown the second the film starts.
>Happiness is only fleeting.

That seems about right really.
>>
>>77763894
I'm actually kinda glad it was. That ending gave the franchise a sense of closure that the strip's last year never quite had. And seeing as Fox only got a deal to make one movie and the Schulz estate's protectiveness, it's unlikely to get a sequel any time soon.
>>
That reminds me, anyone kind of pissed with the lack of Peanuts merch to promote the movie?

Fuck, I went into Wal-Mart and they had like ONE Peanuts book (a Christmas storybook) in stock. None of the Fantagraphic hardcovers or any new them centric reprints in stock
>>
>>77764160
Disagree. Second film will most likely be Snoopy centric.

Or a road trip/summer camp style film.

Every character was perfect. Peppermint Patty and Marcie were standouts, but IMO every character had at least one great moment.

>"A little dirt never hurt anyone"
>>
>>77762999
Not enough Peppermint Patty, I mean she didn't have any reaction at all after Chuck went full on for Red Haired Girl.
>>
I thought the Snoopy parts dragged on a bit but I guess you needing something to break up the Charlie Brown story. I'm not really sure what you could replace Snoopy's story with that would have made the film better.
>>
Movie was awesome, I loved it. Didn't like Peppermint Patty's voice, and she wasn't in it enough, but otherwise I couldn't be happier. The Red Baron scenes were beautiful.

Just went out and bought Bon Voyage Charlie Brown and Race for Your Life Charlie Brown and watched them over Thanksgiving break. Capitalism is alive and well, folks.

I loved the movie. It felt nice giving Charlie Brown traits other than "oh the world hates me, im depressed, blah blah blah" I liked it when he confessed that the test wasn't his and helping Sally with the talent show . The cherry on the top was the little red head girl telling him what a good person he was . It really gave me hope that all good things come to those who stay true. 8.5/10 would watch again

>>
I really really liked it. The only thing I didn't like was the 2nd pop song they used. The first one honestly fit more than I thought it would but that second one...It just kinda stuck out like a sore thumb. I did think the ending was a little too happy but let's be honest, several Charlie brown specials/movies have had happy endings. It's not as if this is breaking the mold in that regard.
>>
It was weird how Chuck got the validation he always wanted but still didn't kick the football.

Like they didn't even understand what the football skit represents.

Movie was charming as fuck. I missed the classic jazz music, though. Linus & Lucy is the only jazz track they used. The Red Baron scenes started to drag a little bit too. Otherwise it played like a Greatest Hits of Peanuts. Great choices for the voice casting.
>>

Because most people didn't really pay attention. And most others just follow the stereotypes. Pep Patty wore pants and sandals and did sports. Marcy called her sir so obviously Patty must be a lesbian. Nevermind that she's the most boy crazy girl in the series. That would take you to look at her character instead of looking at her objectively.

A friend of mine pointed out that he liked that they didn't try to "update" Peanuts by having the kids use cell phones and computers. I honestly didn't think about it until he said it. Imagine Charlie Brown stalking the Little Red-Haired Girl on Facebook.

Millennial Charlie Brown movie would probably be called "Why Don't You Kill Yourself, Charlie Brown?"
>>
>>77766927
The football is just a metaphor for trying to be good at something but no matter how hard he tries he may never achieve that goal. But oh well, who gives a fuck. He at least knows the little red head girl likes him. In the end, "love" is all that matters, not something petty like never winning a ballgame.

Like being stuck in a dead end job, but you always have that love one waiting for you at night.
>>
>>77767383
>A friend of mine pointed out that he liked that they didn't try to "update" Peanuts by having the kids use cell phones and computers. I honestly didn't think about it until he said it.

I noticed that. They wrote their book reports with pen and paper and used corded phones. It's subtle but it gives the whole movie a more timeless quality.

...which makes the licensed music even more conspicuous. Seriously, why?

Peppermint Patty or Patty Patty? Peppermint Patty is a qt because she was more fleshed out than most characters since Schultz made her to be the star of her own strip, but when he realized he didn't have time for two strips just threw her in with the Peanuts gang.

For Patty Patty it's because she likes it filthy.

I wouldn't say perfect. The ending zoomed ahead too fast and made the sudden moral reveal at the end just a random dump. Shoulda cut some of the time outta that way overly long red baron fight at the end and maybe cut the chase down a bit for a bit more time on Charlie after the reveal that he didn't score that perfect score.

Just a bit of nitpicking but the ending is the only regard I didn't really like the movie in. Snoopy takes up 90% of the ending after the test reveal and it bugs me as a waste. Still a great movie and passed my expectations.

I know it'll never happen, but I wish they'd make a sequel starring Peppermint Patty.

It's like a CGI/stop motion hybrid.

It's not going to be accurate to the book, but I might want to see it anyways.

Schulz said he doesn't consider the cartoon be to "canon." Same with the little red haired girl's face being shown and Fifi

Is there a character that could even possibly EVEN TOUCH magician Snoopy? Let alone defeat him. And I’m not talking about Easter Beagle Snoopy. I’m not talking about Flashbeagle Snoopy either. Hell, I’m not even talking about World War I flying ace Snoopy.

Fucking hell. This got to me. I was, and still am, never able to relate to >>77796810 as I'm a confident guy; hell, I outright flirt with a number of my classmates from time to time.

However, Marcie right here definitely struck close to home with me. I definitely can do it, as I even made the NHS. Still, mess up even one time they start getting antsy with you and believe you don't take your stuff seriously.

It's a matter of perspective.
If you look at a single day in a person's life, it can be funny. If you look at the totality of their life, it is depressing. If you look at the lives and deaths of several people, they can be funny or depressing.
