Seriously. It was their one real moment of outright competence (even if Tintin did give them the hint about the cleaners' stitchings), wherein they did real police work and tracked him down on their own.
That fuckin' movie. I haven't watched it since I saw in the theatre, but I still feel the intense love/hate reaction I had to it.
And almost all the hate was making the story MORE cartoony and ridiculous than the original.
