I was born in 1995, anyone else remember watching this show every day after school? Our childhood rocked!
Truly, we had great shows like My Gym Partner Is a Monkey, Liberty's Kids, Camp Lazlo, Kim Possible, Spongebob, Drake and Josh, iCarly, and The Sweet Life Of Zach And Cody. I remember kids in my school used to shout quotes from those shows (LEEDLE LEEDLE LEEDLE, HUG ME BROTHA, I'M READY) and get diagnosed with ADD for it, lol. The teacher even said kids Gen Z (born post-1994) are the worst of all time, can you believe that?
Salute Your Shorts? What's that, a show about underwear? Legend of the secret temple? Sounds like Indiana jones to me. Space Ghost? Why would there be ghosts in space, wouldn't they just fade into nothingness?

This is a far more interesting take on it than cartoon network circa 2006 could have ever come up with, so I doubt that was the intention.

From what I remember it was just replace one whole brain for another, and aparrently the only side effect was him seeing cartoons as the blalter blisney did.
Fuck, now that I think about it, there could have been something interesting to work with here, if the show hadn't been written by shitheads we could have had an arc of the kid seeing phantoms and hallucinations of the surrogate walter character, attempting to assert dominance within the kids brain and live again, leading to some sort of battle of wills. Now theres something in that, but god forbid anything half decent beyond chowder and flapjack escape this era.

would be awesome if they played him up like actual walt disney, who by this point in history would be an out of touch curmudgeon. Could have done an interesting thing with the cartoon visions, them being torn between the new kid or their senior creator who put them to paper. Plus the idea of this walt disney sort of character being stripped of the glamor and prestige and being portrayed as a fearful, average human seems like an awesome way to take a stab at understandings of history and animators.
There could have been something here, even the most brainded cartoons, so to speak, can have a shred of redeemability in them it seems.
Did anyone else notice that in the movie Jimmys friend and love interest were both Asian then when the show came out they were African American I just find it really funny.

Gym partner was ok, I certainly enjoyed some parts of it. What I hated was that it ran in that same vein of story telling that squidward of zombie spongebob seems to have fit into, this idea of "Character who has done nothing to deserve this just has a perpetual outflow pipe of shit pumped down onto him while everyone else in the cartoon is competent and gets off scott free with everything". It wasn't always in the show, and at times it did show how the animals were in the wrong and willing to change, but 95% of the time it was just Lyon getting constantly kicked in the balls for being out of his league, with barely a shred of evidence as to why he deserves all this.
