I know nothing about Guy
Why does every picture I see with him have everyone shitting on him?
His whole character is "the OTHER Lantern"
He's a perpetual second stringer and a born loser
But he's got a fun attitude and tends to be in good books so people like him
>>77682472
>His whole character is "the best Lantern"
>>77682472
I thought kyle was the other lantern
>>77682472
>born loser
>Guy
Batman detected.
To answer your question, Guy really got attention as a cocky jerk comic relief character in JLI. Like everyone else in that great series there was more to it than that-Ice and Guy is the otp of otps, but once it ended writers didn't really know what to do with him. He lost his ring, became a shapeshifting weapon alien thing for a while during the darkness of the 90s while his jerk attitude became more 90s antihero attitude. His initial abrasive personality has been toned down a lot since he got a ring back and he's played more as the moral romantic who hides behind well deserved swagger and cockiness.
>>77682509
I don't disagree with you, he's my favorite
But life treats him like shit. Passed over for a ring because Hal was closer, backup lantern role ends when he gets brain damage from a bus accident, waifu dies, comes back to life, hates him, next waifu fucks Hal while Guy's in a coma, when he wakes up brain damage makes him a giant asshole and everyone hates him, gets a yellow ring and Hal breaks it, gets alien powers and they wear off inside a year...
He's the only earth GL who has never been the titular Green Lantern. Alan, Hal, Kyle and John have all headed up the GL book, even Simon, Guy's relegated to spinoffs and supporting roles.
But he rolls with the punches, and that's why he's the best. Well, that and the snazzy jacket.
>>77682593
Kyle is "Lantern Sue."
>>77682458
It's that stupid haircut. He is just asking for it
>>77682602
I lost track of what was going on since i stopped reading a while ago, but he was the star of the red lanturn book. no?
>>77682629
Damnit, that's not what he's suppose to be though originally.
Why is there so many earth green lanterns? I thought there was only supposed to be one per sector so why do the others have rings?
>>77682629
Isn't Soday Yat Lantern Sue?
>>77682629
isn't that what hal would be, if he were a lot less retarded?
>>77682458
Because he really fucking deserves it most of the time.
He was a humonguous, irredeemable asshole for most of his earlier appearances, his fun, cocky character is really a product of later years. Guy with Sinestro's yellow ring circa Death of Superman was edge incarnate.
>>77682667
Sodam Yat would have to be relevant to be Lantern Sue.
>>77682668
Probably.
>>77682602
>But life treats him like shit
eh. better than Kyle and Jon
>>77683028
Fuck John. Boring ass lantern.
>>77682651
Nah, he took over for a while but it was a temporary thing to cause a "Red Lantern civil war." It was a really fun ride, most Guy books are, but it ended. Now he's green again (I think?) and the RLs are being slaughtered by nuBo because ????
I read mostly just Rebirth forward (with a random smattering before), but he's become my FAVORITE lantern. Know why? Because he's ALWAYS there, always ready to throw down, always on the right side, and always happy to help, no matter how he comes across. He's the only one that's not constantly getting into ridiculous drama, or being powered up/powered down, falling into suns, etc. He is the quintessential Green Lantern.
And he's a serious bro.
>>77683028
Alan "Wrote the book on willpower" Scott
Hal "Potato Lantern" Jordan
Guy "The Other Lantern" Gardner
John "BTW I'm a marine" Stewart
Kyle "Lantern Sue" Rayner
Simon "Beware my Controversy" Baz
>>77683093
>Simon "Beware my Controversy" Baz
Now he's Simon "Beware my Irrelevancy" Baz
>>77683121
is he even still a thing?
>>77683136
He'll be in Edge of Oblivion or whatever is name to Lost Army 2.
>>77683136
Bd'g is more of a thing than Baz.
>>77683157
Good ol' B'dawg
>>77683136
He was quietly tucked away after Disney's pet sites all collectively shit their pants over him. Who knows if he'll ever be relevant again.
>>77683093
You forgot about Jennifer-Lynn "who even cares" Hayden
>>77682602
>the snazzy jacket
Jackets and giant boots have never let him down before, I see no reason for this trend not to continue
>>77683093
>Alan "Wrote the book on willpower" Scott
>Hal "Protagonist" Jordan
>Guy "That One Guy" Gardner
>John "Irrelevant" Stewart
>Kyle "Lantern Sue" Rayner
>Simon "Beware my Controversy" Baz
Don't forget about Jade and uh
Some other people maybe
>>77682458
>>77682602
>next waifu fucks Hal while Guy's in a coma
They fucked while they thought he was dead, they broke up once he turned up alive and in a coma
>>77683136
I think he just disappeared right before Godhead finished.
>>77682458
Best GL around, fuck Hal and Bats.
I wish we could see more of him in the JLI style, with Blue, Gold and J'onn J'onzz.
OTP
Perfect casting right here

>>77683136
>>77685947
He was in Lost Army #6 and he's on the cover for Edge of Oblivion
>>77682458
He's a belligerent jerk.
>>77682458
For a long time he was portrayed as a joke character: he was arrogant, brash and a huge asshole who would constantly get smacked down. This made him popular with fans and he'd get minis and other things regarding it, including the Warrior series (which was SUPPOSED to be a joke pitch but DC took it seriously). Over the last decade or so they've moved him away from being a joke to being THE badass of the GLC and his popularity's grown bigger ever since.
Guy is, I think, the least divisive Lantern. Most readers seem to like him.
>>77686280
I'm pretty sure Old Man Alan Scott is the least divisive lantern, I've met a lot of Guy haters.
>>77686130
I love that page. Guy was great in that series.
>>77686280
>Guy is, I think, the least divisive Lantern. Most readers seem to like him.
Nah a lot of people dislike him, if anything I'd say he's the most divisive
>>77686350
Kyle's the most divisive because people either love him or hate with a passion, Guy's in the middle as while there's a plenty of people who dislike him (as far as my experience goes, a lot of people assume he's meant to be taken seriously all the time or find the initial jingoism to be offputting though, so a lot of Guy hate is a bit unreasonable), but nothing as extreme
>>77686157
Too bad is Memelord.
>>77686350
Not at all, Kyle is, must people that started reading comics after civil was and rebirth hate kyle
>>77686379
I thought Kyle hate had mostly died down until recently, especially once Rebirth happened there was no big reasons for mass hate
>>77686457
>Kyle/Carol
Look carefully and you'll find reason.
>>77686056
This picture is the best
>>77686476
That's what I meant by recently, between Rebirth and New Guardians there wasn't anythingby the time New Guardians ended I hated him too, that book seemed designed to make people that weren't already big fans of him dislike him
>>77686056
I love the implication that Bruce has actually hidden Ollie's arrows before
>>77686581
Damn it, Bruce
Kuwabara is my favorite character
>>77687026
me too anon

>>77682458
>everyone shitting on him
Nah.
>>77686548
What happened in new guardians?
>>77687394
The "you were the chosen one all along!" retcon which has thankfully been ignored already, his dumb shonen training arc to become the special snowflake lantern that nobody else can do because apparently nobody else can feel seven emotions, a handful of characters falling all over themselves to suck his dick, bad characterization all around, Kyle/Carol, are my main complaints about it
New Guardians ended months ago and Kyle/Carol still makes my blood boil, although thankfully now Omega Men is cleaning up a lot of those issues and is just a better book all around
>>77682458
Surprised no one has posted this yet...

>Hal can resist Guy's constructs using only the physical force of his own arms.
Based Hal.
>>77688605
>hal is so stupid he forgot he has his own ring and is trying to pull the chains apart.
ftfy
>>77688605
Hal's a shit
>>77688755
Step 'way
>>77688605
>Hal asks Guy to choke him a little, come on man it's fine, it's not gay
>Guy reluctantly does it
What a pal
>>77682636
>stupid haircut
Can't copy his swagger
>>77686111
The way he's drawn here reminds me of Rico from Starship Troopers.
>>77690250
The "I'm from Buenos Aires" dude?
It does looks like him.
>>77686280
I kind of find Guy a jerk myself, but I can't deny he's got a charm.
I'd love to see him as a sort of Lantern regulator, who's in charge of making sure that none of the lanterns fuck up or go bad.
>>77685865
Jade "I cheat because I like it"

>>77686130
This was a BB ongoing right, with jamie?
>>77693670
Yep
>>77688505
I love this scene because the only other context you have for Guy in the entire series was an eariler shot of him flying around and smiling at the viewer for less than 10 seconds
Best GL bump
