Superman is jack of all trades. Not nearly as fast as Flash, but still has superspeed. Not nearly as skilled as Wonder Woman, but when depicted later in his career, still has a bit of martial arts training under his belt (usually courtesy of Batman and Wonder Woman). And generally Batman, who's one of the best detectives and strategists in the world, is depicted as smarter than him, even though Clark won a Pulitzer Prize. No telepathy, shape shifting, or mindrape resistance, but without J'onn's weakness to fire. Less naïve and more experienced than Captain Marvel. I don't know where people get this idea that he's the strongest, beyond seeing the Donner films. Certainly not from the DCAU stuff.
