Villains should have been Luthor/Talia/Adam if they needed a female and a "magic" user

I know Joker is popular, but he's really lame as a mentor choice.
I feel like Luthor was the only good mentor on the villains side too.

Circe is fine too

Joker is a different style of mentor, different attitude to Lex

The amount of pay2win is pretty absurd.
Like the escrow system is just there because fuck you pay me and it adds literally nothing to the game while making the auction house borderline unusable.
>>
>>77667073
No decent equipment until level 30 either, that's where the game begins, quite off putting

yeah, and even then, you start getting those screws in you that try to get you to pry open your wallet.

you need to pay at least 5 dollars just to make the game manageable
>>
I liked it alot untill i got to like tier 4 endgame
>>
>>77666565
I have over 450 hours in the game. Spread over something like 6 years.
Very off and on game for me, I come back only when they add new content, play it. Get my main up to new highest CR, then dick around with other characters.

It's good for a few things.
>Making either a Hero or Villain and beating up Iconic characters.
>Rolling with cheap Marvel Knockoffs go fight DC hero or Villains.
>Fucking around Gotham and Metropolis.

It's in no way a good game, but not many MMO's have gotten down the system of, let the player dick around.

>>
>>77667812
What MMOs are actually good?
>>
>>77667858
Good is hard to pin down.
So I'll focus only on MMO's that kept my interest longer than the initial day or two, since many games front load content to keep new players going.
>DCUO, as I said I have over 450 hours, but I'm an off and on, so once you hit end game, unless you enjoy raids all the time, there isn't much to do.
>SWTOR, Not much end game content, they don't add raids or that very often. But for a F2P that gives you 8 class stories with some choices, its Bioware, its pretty hard to beat. Give the Empire side a play through, it seems all the good writers were working on that.
>Wildstar, combat is active, twitchy really, but it went F2P and its pretty fun, has some players now, so its not lonely.
>Tera, looks pretty, plays well, feels a little clunky, but to be honest it kinda needs to or else it would feel flighty. It doesn't do anything wrong, but you feel like something is missing.

SWTOR, really feels like they push subscriptions on you hard though.

>>

I honestly found CoH to be more enjoyable than WoW.
>>
I stopped playing pretty early on because there were high level villains waiting by the start point of early story missions that kept killing me and not letting me through the door
>>
>>77666565
Hero
>Fire hero, superspeed, dual weilding (swords)/martial arts
>Munitions hero, acrobatics, dual pistols
>Celestial hero, skimming, shield/dual pistols
Villains
>Electric villain, superspeed, martial arts
>Magic villain, flight, bow
>Atomic villain, superspeed, brawling
Which one of my teams would win?

I like the game, the missions going up to level 30 are always fun, but after that it gets kinda boring having to do the same alerts and rates over and over again to build up the combat rating. Plus now I need too do feats to build up my skill points. All the new DLC and episodes are for the highest levels which sucks. And then there are the fags who try and take control of the team and then rage quit because the team they are with arent a well oiled murder machine. Super speed is the GOAT movement mode, and I log on sometimes just to run around the city. It's that satisfying. It's really a matter uf how much time you're willing to put into the game

Because it allows new players to catch up on content instead of putting up paywalls that end up hurting long term growth and segmenting the player base. WoW, SWTOR and other MMOs make expansions free after a period of time for this very reason.

>social part of mmo's has been dying for a time now

Here's an experience some friends and I went through

>Playing DCUO with some friends
>never been to gotham
>decide to go see what's up over there
>start a quest involving bane
>halfway done
>sinestro corps member shows up and kills two of us
>come back and beat his ass
>finish the quest
>take a break and lounge around gotham with some friends
>friend says to look in the distance
>a cloud of yellow is flying right toward us
>the sinestro corps member brought his fucking gang
>take off towards safe zone
>they catch me and kill me
>camps the safe zone waiting for us to respawn
>activate the full power of the speed force and dash across the ocean
>immediately port to the watchtower
>never go to gotham again
it was pretty fun running from the Sinestro Corps like that, there was also this time I fell out of watch tower and drifted through space. 8/10 would play it again if my CPU wasn't shit

I played this game and had a really enjoyable time. Much more fun than any of the Batman: Arkham Bullshit games. I chose Batman as my mentor and made a huge, bulky dude with a casual, laid back body language, similar to TAS Harvey Bullock I guess. He wore all black and yellow, boots and gloves, tactical pockets everywhere and had a sweet leather jacket with a bear paw on it. I spent a stupid amount of time just parkouring around Gotham and climbing up buildings with my "bear" hands.

I beat all of the missions in Gotham by myself. I know that defeats the purpose of a MMO, but my tv was tiny at the time and I never figured out how to enlarge the text box. So I managed to stealth my way through every dungeon and beat every boss on my own somehow. It felt like something Batman would do anyways.

Once I got to Metropolis I finally had to team up with other players which was super fun. It felt like I was really playing my part on a team of superheroes, pepper spraying, tazing and entrapping hoards of enemies while the heroes with powers swooped in and finished them off. Felt like I was the "Batman" of the team.

There are also a lot of cool buildings in Metropolis with rooftop gardens and parks that are fun to chill in.

Even as a free game I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The art direction and graphics are incredibly ugly, a shitload of basic features are hidden behind a paywall, and the story is written by post-DA2 Bioware.

I mean unintentionally, you get to close to a wall and suddenly you're running at a 90 degree angle from where you want to go.

okay but it's all gravy if I WANT to run up walls then?

Same. RPGs are literally my favorite genre but I haven't played a single MMO where I actually thought the gameplay was fun. As I said, the level design is usually just filler made for the intent of constant grinding. I can usually tolerate grinding, but there comes a time my patience dwindles and I simply realize I'm not actually having any fun playing the game. It's such a shame too, there are plenty of MMOs out there where I really dig certain aspects of it like the Secret World and you can really see a glimmer of originality but it's all brought down by all the MMO mechanics.

Not >>77667996, but I've started playing it recently and I find it to be an alright game. Yes, there's a stupid amount of stuff locked behind paywalls, like not having storage space on your own ship, or actually getting certain quest rewards denied to you (fucking bounty hunter credit boxes), the combat is decent and the writing isn't bad. I suppose I'm also just easily amused by shocking people to death with UNLIMITED POWER as a sith sorcerer.

The gameplay is literally just a re-skin of WoW abilities and WoW has shit combat. The story can be decent at times, but even Fallout 4 has better writing. Hell, Fallout 4 has better companions too. Keep in mind, Fallout 4 is a Bethesda game, a company whose writing skills are less than stellar.

I played FF11. Did anyone else?

Damn this takes me back. I really wish they go F2P for all the content instead of doing these micro-transaction bullshit though, and if they want money, do something similar to the skin system in LoL. Really sad.
