I'm Chinese, and I think this series was amazingly well done. They actually 'got' how our government functions. Like, everyone in the series was even more dysfunctional than usual, and it was great! It was exactly the kind of factional politics I would expect.
Immortal Man In Darkness is probably the best example. And yes, Qin Shihuang really was a fucking asshole. (I particularly liked how 'Shaolin Robot' was dressed up to be far less dangerous than he actually was.)
