Hey /co/
I'm a computer animator working at a studio atm.
I have a question about general short films.

Is it possible for a computer animated short to be scary??? I mean "won't watch alone" creepy. Genuinely frightening.

Something like this> https://vimeo.com/82920243

Thanks anons!

It's animation. Do whatever the heck you want.

Yeah, but I would suggest avoiding jumpscares or using them minimally. And like all other types of films it needs to be well directed, take notes from the stuff that freaks you out and try to include it.
Also, make sure the CG looks good at key moments.

That's very kind of you to say!

Thanks for the replies anons! Very helpful stuff.

I'm considering the disconnect we have naturally with computer animation. When you watch a scary short that's CG, you know it's not real despite how realistic it may be. It seems like no matter how hard you try, the viewer would subconsciously know what you're seeing isn't real. Hence, no relation.
To date I still haven't seen it achieved.
