Good evening owls of /co/,

>>77651158
Lo, I was thiiiis close to just going to bed at 7 PM, but I thought of how sad all the anons would be without their evening FRANK.

>Writer/editor Mark Gruenwald originally created the Scourge in 1985 as a plot device intended to thin the criminal population of the Marvel Universe, in particular eliminating those supervillain characters he deemed to be too minor, redundant, or ill-conceived.

art shift!
>>77651237
>>77651213
Always makes me sad when the first solution to dealing with an unwanted character is to kill them. Maybe somebody will have a good idea for them someday!

HIS HAIR WAS--PERFECT
Today is apparently the day the JSA debuted back in 1940, and also Roy Thomas's 75th birthday. What a coincidence!
Here's hoping DC stops dicking over the JSA soon and also reprint All Star Squadron pls
>>77651384
:(
>>77651408
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JSA
give us a JSA book, DC
>>77651213
Couldn't he just like...not use them? Every big shared universe has assloads of characters that are barely used, and nobody really cares.

>>77651167
We thank you for your commitment OP!
Hey thread!
>>77651213
Man how shitty do you have to be for even Gruenwald to be like "Yeah lets kill em"
>>77651563
so sleepy
>>77651442
>holy gasoline
Wut.
>>77651587
>>77651584
really shitty
>>77651593
Get a priest to bless some gasoline instead of water.
>>77651530
I saw people making fun of gg what's his face being so mad at losing and i can't find like a full write up. looks hilarious
>>77651408
yeah, coincidence...
>>77651599
I just learned Gone with the Blastwave is toast.
>>77651620
yeah, he's cultivating that whole "this is hilarious I am not mad" pose but I think he actually did want to win
I felt so dirty when I loled at one of his shitty tweets
>>77651663
>>77651213
Gruenwald was such a hit or miss writer, when he was good, he was fucking great, but when he was bad, man...
>>77651692
I assumed this guy was a nazi and now i feel bad towards germans since he's just an asshole
>>77651663
why would you even want to win! more layers to the comedy
>>77651237
Has Brereton been in anything lately?
>>77651705
This cover reminds me of the single best page of Space: Punisher
>>77651709
Also I kind of feel bad for assuming the Japanese guys were Imperial soldiers. Although they were wearing rising suns.
>>77651739
>>77651730
>Dan Brereton's premiere creations are set to return in the Fall of 2015 in a brand new original graphic novel. NOCTURNALS: THE SINISTER PATH,
>>77651158
I love you JSA anon.
>>77651782
>>77651788
t-thanks, anon
>>77651730
Apparently there's a new Nocturnals book that was funded by Kickstarter.
>>77651804
>>77651739
Good times.
>>77651782
Oh, a Kickstarter, interesting. Is it just me or are we seeing more and more comic book projects funded via Kickstarter? Looks like it's set to becomes the next Image.
>>77651821
>>77651835
so very many tentacleHitlers
>>77651865
Remender loves gags like this one
>>77651842
Kickstarter isn't a publisher, so no
A lot of creators wanting to do more creator owned stuff need a boost getting the books made, and some of them manage to publish it through an actual publisher later (like Simone getting Leaving Megalopolis out through Dark Horse, and Orlando's Virgil)
>>77651883
it's COLD outside tonight :(
>>77651937
I love Frankencastle. Wish others did.
Thanks for the story time

>"Oh hey I'd better do a flyby with it"
Goddamn Frank.
>>77651937
Franken-Castle was so under appreciated at the time... Why?!
>>77651979
Honestly, the only ones who don't like it are Punisher purists.
>>77651980
>>77652008
perceived radical genre shift, although it's very well connected
>>77652059
>>77651599
Did they ever fight Godzilla?
>>77652072
>>77652109
if only
>>77652109
man it would be amazing if Remender put in a deep cut like that
>>77651599
And yet Remender manage to do something worthwhile with most of the ones he brought back. Just comes to show there's no such thing as a shitty character, just shitty writers.

>>77651955
>>77651964
Honestly, it's hard to dislike Franken-Castle. On the surface the concept is actually decent: The Punisher teams up with an obscure team of characters, the Legion of Monsters. Yeah the Frankenstein thing is silly, but so is Norman Osbourne being appointed as the director of SHIELD. The former isn't nearly as fucked-retarded. And hell, the writing is solid, so there's no problem.

>In an effort to set the series [DP 7] apart from other team books, Gruenwald wrote an analysis of 14 superhero groups in categories such as age makeup, origin, purpose, and budget, and deliberately constructed the group to differ from these 14 established groups in every category.
fucking madman Gru!
>>77652634
If only it had lasted longer. Really dug the premise. Wonder if Peter ever apologized to him after wrongly blaming him.
>>77652663
>If the clump is relatively small, you might be able to loosen and lift it with the spading fork. An older mass, however, will often have to be pried out with the mattock, and a really large and/or overcrowded section may require a mattock, a crowbar, and all of the ingenuity you can muster.
>>77652673
Shit, that's a chart I'd actually like to see.
>>77652701
>>77652446
I still maintain that this book runs off of the Anti-Death Equation. Apokalips is just a red herring, the whole book is just a shambling zombified husk of its former self, doomed to stay afloat with middling 30k sales in perpetuity.

Man, that bites. Though, it would suck more if there had been updates.
>>77651429
So that's Elsa Bloodstone's father?
He's got better hair than Elsa.
>>77651955
I have yet to meet a person who actually dislikes this particular Punisher run. I kinda wish this would have been his new Status Quo for a bit longer. It's nice seeing Frank fight for to protect people.
>>77651953
I love that we don't even get a half-assed explanation of why frank has a god-damn dragon, it's just assumed that it works out that way. So when Frank says he's going alone, that doesn't include the dragon amongst the monster society?
>>77652059
I love how frank has a half-smile right there, like proof that he fully believes in his cause and somewhat enjoys what he does. Sure he's plenty grim and kill-y but dammit sometimes ya gotta love what ya do, chief
>>77657128
Maybe he just ran into the dragon on the way..
>>77651213
>the Scourge
When I first started reading comics about a year and a half/2 years ago, I remember seeing him show up every so often and killing some random fuck, mostly in one of those "mini" comics at the end of an issue. Sometimes you wouldnt even see him, just a bullet flying from the fucking skyline into the sky and killing some asshole U.S. Agent was flying off someplace on those scooters. It was so bizarre. I recognized a lot of the villains who were revived in this run, but I never can across the comics where the Scourge showed himself formally.
May be part of the reason why I liked this whole Punisher volume, between that, the blood stone, and some of the monsters, I felt like I had enough prior knowledge to fully enjoy it.
Or in other words "I understood that reference"
>>77651299
Well, despite being killed in the 80s, they were revived just for this volume.
Along with Frank's family, which he intentionally burned alive like a fucking dumb cunt.
>>77663027
good morning bump
