This and DD both have terrible pacing problems. They defuse the tension way too early and then spend the middle of the show trying to set up for a boring anti-climax where Hero punches Villain in a moonlit urban environment.
Kevin wasn't nearly as threatening or purple as he should have been. Hope was beyond annoying after the first episode or two. Nuke wasn't enough. I hate Ritter.

They both had a messed up pas and were trying to do the right thing and set their mistakes even but didn't know the right way.
Jess fixated on saving Hope(totally subtle name there) because she saw her younger self in her. To the point where she would risk the lives of other innocent people, because she projected all her sense of failure and success on saving hope or not. And she did not want help from others because it wasn't about the innocent girl at all, but herself.
Sam wanted to atone for bad things he did in the past by helping people. And that is why he would go along with what Trish and Jess said even though he disagreed. He was seeking redemption, just like Jess.
Until their respective crashing points. When his buddies died he lost it, realized he could not rely on anyone else, he had to take things into his own hands and eliminate all those who got in his way. He stopped trying to be a better person and went back to the pills.
When Hope died Jess could have crashed and lost it. Instead she realized she had been a self centered cunt and that she had to face reality instead of HOPE for a future redemption for herself.That's when she became a hero, who does what is right for others, rather than what makes her feel better about herself.
She had to lose hope to being hope to others. It's like pottery.

There were subtle nods, occasional mentions of character and events, and night nurse. The majority of the 'shared universe' content was akin to mentioning Gotham in Superman Returns, yeah it's there but it's not substantial enough to truly make it feel like a shared universe, especially for an area as small as the island of Manhattan.

Overral thought is that the show is too grim. I know that sounds like weak criticism, but the main reason that I couldn't binge through all of it in a day like I did Daredevil was that I needed a break from all that suffering, which doesn't help the ending. WhenKilgrave was necksnapped by Jessica of Murder, it didn't feel like a victory, like Matt beating Fisk, it felt more like finally getting rid of something terrible after it teared you down, you're weak, frail and tired, and you got it done, but you ain't smiling.
Which is great and fits fucking perfectly the whole noir thing they're doing, since no noir story ends on a complete happy ending. But it still leaves you kinda unsatisfied and just sad. I guess I'm just not made to enjoy noir stories, but I felt it needed a little more sweet on all that bitter.
Maybe it needed some more light characters, or that their lighter characters where actually lighter and not just further ways for SUFFERING. I dunno.
And then there's smaller issues, some pacing problems, some ''unfortunate events'' that just feel like they're there to drag the story on, and some tonal issues, etc...
But still, like Daredevil it's better than most things Marvel Studios has put out, and unlike most of it's movies, it goes all the way to actually have a different genre, it's not just ''superhero movie + x genre coat of paint '', hell, it's almost uncapeshit. Acting is great, directing is inspired, yadda yadda competent people made this.
8/10, it's not Daredevil, put it's pretty good.

I tell myself that I'd use my powers for good or at least attempt to do noble things with them, but Kilgrave's particular powers are almost a conduit for abuse and evil. Reaching into people's heads and just twisting their minds around, making what you want exactly what they want regardless of any natural instinct or judgment. I think the only answer is to, essentially, become a Jedi. Be a hermit, live away from people, but close enough that you can still stay connected with the world and with your basic needs and comforts taken care of. Only involve yourself if absolutely necessary and consider carefully that your actions will leave a mark not just on the people you touch, but yourself. Your powers are de facto abusive, which is a slippery slope towards the Dark Side, but with patience and wisdom, you might learn the difference between using them for yourself and using them for others.

Well, it's not really reaching into people's heads. It's not direct mind control or even mind reading(Which I honestly find to be more invasive in many respects, fuck you Jean.), it's a virus that renders the infected completely susceptible to his suggestions. You would need to be extremely careful about what you say around people. Kilgrave accidentally telling a guy to "go screw himself" reminded me of the identical incident in the Worm web serial, where a woman with a hypnotic voice told a guy to do the same thing (without intending to manipulate him) which resulted in him killing himself trying to carry out the order.
So, just never speak thoughtlessly and try not to use common turns of phrase that could be taken literally, with horrifying results.

It would have changed the dynamic. Kilgrave wasn't trying to torture Jessica but the Purple Man was. Kilgrave did very little out of actual malice and thus could fool himself into thinking he wasn't a bad person. PM liked hurting people cause he could, so he got creative. Ironically if he didn't rape her Kilgrave would have been less sympathetic.

It's some sort of weird gatling gun but also appears to have a central barrel. The top of the receiver looks like it kind of turns into nothing and has some weird open pit underneath the scope. The scope is sitting far too back rendering either it or the stock unusable. The trigger mechanism, at least I'm assuming that's what it is, is far above the center of mass of the gun, offset at an odd angle, and looks like it's connected into the base of the scope. There's some weird ass curved thing, possibly a second magazine, underneath the foregrip.
And the ammunition belt is feeding rounds into the gun backwards.
