What does /co/ think of Dilbert?
>>
Dogbert is kinda a dick. He's a sociopath who has too much money who has a sick amusement of using Dilbert to make more money and he's just OK with it since Dilbert thinks all people are idiots

I'd fuck Alice tho.
>>
>>77607996
I liked the show

i need to know the burning question:

Ranch

or

Cool Ranch
>>
It was pretty good until they had that weird episode where he went around and shot up the office while tripping on drugs I think.
>>
>>77608026
Catbert is a bigger sociopath.
>>
>>77608611

Catbert is literally the devil and hell is right underneath the accounting firm

He's just evil
>>
>>77607996
Why do Dogbert and Catbert look exactly like Dilbert? Are they clones?
>>
>>77609848
Catbert didn't start out wearing glasses. He was originally a cat that attacked Ratbert. A lot of fans wrote it referring to the cat as Catbert and saying they wanted to see more of him. So then in the comic, Dogbert later decided to give him an HR position, so the cat started wearing glasses and became called Catbert.

And as for Dogbert he just happens to wear glasses, is all.
>>
Comic strip is good, especially if you... You know, have experienced work environment and aren't a NEET.
Cartoon was godly.

I heard Adams' books were good, anyone can confirm?
>>
>>77608641
Catbert is HR, not accounting.
>>
>hey Dilbert what do you call it when a guy in middle management makes it all the way to upper management?

Out of all the syndicated comics, Dilbert's easily the best!

By which I mean, it's the only one that's actually worth reading.

how did this show manage to stay so topical
>>
>>77612417

For the love of god I'm trying to remember a line from Dogbert that struck me at the time.
It was from this show and it was at the end of an episode. It was Dilbert and Dogbert sitting outside, looking at the night sky.
>>
>>77612500
No matter how bad the day is, the stars are always there.
>>
>>77612507

Do you remember the episode name or something like that?
>>
Loved the opening theme of the show.

Read the comics (from the collected books) a lot as a bored child. Obviously a lot of the jokes didn't make sense until much later.

Still liked it.

True, the opening is good at capturing the characterization of each one. Simple, yet effective. Plus, the animation still looks good.

Looking back on the show, I think they got the voice of Dogbert and Dilbert down pat.

Scott Adams is not as clever as he thinks he is.
>>
>>77613518
The episode I always have in mind is the one where Dilbert goes to donate blood and ends making pranks with the nurse throwing the blood bags to people like they were water balloons.
>>
Dilbert was fine when it was about office culture and the inanity of how that stuff works. I stopped paying attention when I realized Adams entire schtick is "I don't understand how this works, so no one does."

John Byrne made millions (at one point) and yet Todd McFarlane, a person whom Byrne and people at Marvel believed to be dumb as hell, is more successful than he is.

When someone pointed out to Byrne that McFarlane made millions and millions Byrne said about the same thing you did.

Between where those two are now I'd say McFarlane had the better outcome even if he did stupidly try to screw over Neil Gaiman.

I'm sorry, man, any argument based on the pretext that Todd McFarlane isn't dumb as hell kinda falls apart.
>>
>>77617812
If you have to say you're smarter than someone because it's easy for a dumb person to get rich (ie Byrne thinking he's smarter than McFarlane) you probably might not be as smart as you think you are.

Hey, I used to believe Byrne on what he said there too.
>>
>>77617981
are we seriously going to have a 'maybe you're dumb according to this metric' dick-waggling contest
>>
>>77607996
One of the most underappreciated shows of all time.
>>
>>77618013
No. I think you're as smart as Trump.
>>
>>77618052
You're going to be smug about an exchange that began with me comparing success with a Trump metric by saying that makes me as bad as Trump? Good going.
>>
>>77618116
But you said you're independently wealthy. So that implies a financial smarts like Trump. Unless you're worried that you're stupid?
>>
>>77618139
Anon, the point was that that doesn't necessarily make me intelligent or relevant. Please keep up.
>>
>>77618173
It sounds more like self-doubt.
>>
>>77618203
I wouldn't say so, since you aren't rich like me, your opinion is fairly worthless.
>>
>>77618224
But you're saying your opinion is fairly worthless because you're not as rich as Scott Adams and Donald Trump. That doesn't make any sense.
>>
>>77618273
Nonsense, since you seem inclined to put out your opinion despite not being as rich as me, you seem to think it's not important. Well done, validating my point.
>>
>>77618299
I've validated your point that Scott Adams is as clever as he thinks he is?
>>
>>77618350
You are either relevant, or completely not relevant.
>>
>>77618365
So you're saying that because Scott Adams and Donald Trump are relevant it means you're not relevant?
>>
>>77607996
It did a job that needed to be done just as the office world was becoming what it is today.
But nowadays a lot of it just isn't that funny.
>>
>>77618404
I'm saying my opinion is either worth a lot more than yours or yours is completely pointless.
>>
>>77618431
But you implied your opinion is completely pointless.
>>
>>77618480
Nonsense, it's more relevant than yours. Everything I say is more important than you are. Lucrativity scales.
>>
>>77618509

>>
>>77618563

>>
>>77618675
But you said I'm irrelevant to the argument, so it means you began the convention of riches being proportional to relevance instead.
>>
>>77618728
Why bother talking when you aren't important? Perhaps it's because you think you're important? Yet you aren't, as only validated by a rich man's interest.

This is an interesting statement because Dilbert's creator thinks that Trump is a genius and will be the next President of the USA.

>Trump also said he thinks Mexico should pay for the fence, which made most people scoff. But if your neighbor’s pit bull keeps escaping and eating your rosebushes, you tell the neighbor to pay for his own fence or you will shoot his dog next time you see it. Telling a neighbor to build his own wall for your benefit is not crazy talk. And I actually think Trump could pull it off.

Everything Scott Adams says makes me believe more and more that he is a bit of an idiot.
>>
The comic is okay.
The cartoon is awesome.
>>
>>77619833
you're the idiot
>>
>>77620053
It's a waste of effort and there is no way to pull it off effectively. Mexican immigration to America is already a net negative since the Mexican narcos control the borders and most illegals are too afraid to try to oppose them. It's a completely braindead plan that only a completely braindead person could think is anything but bullshit.
>>
That episode about Dilbert's pregnancy (which I seem to remember as maybe being a two-parter) actually had a touching conclusion, for me at least.

Will someone tell those faggots to stop arguing about Trump?
>>
The show was great. I wish it wasn't cancelled so early.
>>
>>77620169
Yea, lets just let the man be President, gonna happen anyway. Let the man have his fun, he really couldn't do any worse.

Hillary will fall apart once she has to start dealing with the public more either by wandering away or losing her shit at some poor sap.
>>
>>77608098

>>77612417
my favorite was when Dogbert basically summed up how news works
>What makes you qualified to be a reporter?
>I'm willing to to violate anyone's privacy for my personal gain and then claim with a straight face that the public has a right to know.
not as cute as in the comics when he put out a 'good news show' to counteract all the fear-based bad news bummer media, but the comics were always cuter back then.. i miss those cute days.
>>
>>77619833
why? sounds sensible to me
though mexico IS doing their best, the dog is just too powerful for them to control. we need to shoot it
>>
>>77620111
Well that just proved you didn't read the blog post linked, which really does make you the idiot because you are making an opinion on something you haven't read.

Scott Adam's point was Trump's plan is deliberately unrealistic because he expects to be argued down. Starting with a large unrealistic negotiating point and allowing yourself to be argued down to what you actuality want is top level negotiation skills.

Huffington Post, Comics Alliance, The Mary Sue, and others were calling him out. At the time I agreed with them but now years later... I really don't want to agree with Adams on this at all, but I have to admit I've gotten kind of wary about HuffPo, CA and Mary Sue.
