I really loved Stakes. Top notch humor and fun adventures, the ending was a bit underwhelming though and the weird Marceline rap in episode 4 was shit. Overall 8/10 though, I hope they'll make another miniseries in S8.
The normal episodes so far are okay, definitely better than much of S5.2 and S6. There's still a lot of possibilities left out though. Also KOO best character

I'd like to point out that you will always hear disappointing things about Adventure Time these days, but in pointing that out I'm not saying to totally dismiss them. The mini's humorous and there's some action to enjoy, but Marceline's drama can be meh if you've stopped caring.

It's great for an Adventure Time mini-series, not so much for a Marceline mini-series. There is no real impact to the events happening during the mini-series, even when she apparently loses all of her powers it never felt like the big series that would define Marceline as a character.
Most of the episodes are about the gang hanging around hunting down vampires, and while the characters and situations are pretty fun it doesn't have the emotional impact or convincing storytelling I was expecting from it.
And I'm not even talking about the last episode. I'm starting to feel like the writers find genuine satisfaction in writing half-assed stories with the most unsatisfying, anti-climatic endings for the most interesting plot arcs.

Heirophant was my favorite by far. Awesome powers, cool design, his old fashioned vamp gimmick was fun and led to his thematically appropriate death and he had the most character depth to him out of all the bats besides the King. Super interesting guy.
I also think the Empress is underrated though, I fucking loved when she was all "You know he was happier when he was serving me" to Marcy.
Moon had the worst death, holy crap that was dumb and lazy. One f the lowest points of Stakes for me.

I found every vampire on its own great, even the Fool with the stereotypical black voice and the chicken eating joke cracked me up. My favourite would be the Hierophant or VK too, although the latter one really had a GOAT tier class and style. I really hope the writers will use VK again, now that he is kind of an inner voice.

The Vampire King is inside of her head, and will probably have some sort of impact on the future.Also now we have an expanded background regarding the world, and the characters motivations.
We know that Marcy killed vampires many years ago and in which conditions, and helped the last humans to escape to another continent - the same humans that would originate Martin and Finns mon. This will probably be vital on future episodes.
We had the death of the King of OOO, which is a signal of the end of an arc, showing the evolution of PB.
Considering that these episodes aired at the beggining of the season, I feel that they will build something bigger to the end.
Also, its obvious that Marcy, and in lesser scale PB were changed by the experience - now we have to see if the storyboarders will be able to keep the consistence of it. I dont know...but this season seems more consitent on tone so far, than previous seasons.

The mini series was centered marceline's existential crisis. In addition the whole special had to capture 5 additional main characters to focus on AND attempt to capture some sort nuance with each vampire. That in mind, I feel they did pretty good with the time they had.
Also, Finn's existential crisis arch was a huge part of the last season, so they probably didnt want to bore the kids anymore then they had to.

Either way, it made me feel great. That was literally the first example EVER of Finn and PB having something resembling a healthy, friendly relationship.

I did not think Season 6 was a s bad as people say. I actually liked that they were more experimental and tried different things, even though sometimes they didn't always stick the landing.I like how real they show Finn's dad to be, along with the things they did with prismo and Finn's grass sword. I don't like how they copped out of the arm thing though. The Tower had some pretty cool visuals and believe it or not, I really liked Food Chain, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it certainly is mine. Jake's origin story was pretty cool. Everything's Jake, Jermaine, On the Lam, were interesting concepst though the episode weren't the best, not bad thiough. I liked the Dentist, Dark Purple, Walnuts & Rain, and Astral Plane. Stakes and the rest of season 7 reaffirmed that the Adventure Time hate train is bullshit.
