They re-grouped and left the area shortly afterwards. Moving as quickly and quietly as they could, Panther squad began moving away from the road that had been their original pickup point. Their timing was close. Looking back Blake could see the huge dust cloud kicked up by the vehicles and troops swarming the area they had just vacated. They had traveled in silence for a good 3 hours at a fast march before Blake decided it was safe to pause and refill their canteens.
"So Bear I gotta ask..." Ramirez called over to their squad's machine gunner.
"Here we go..." Jackson muttered and moved out of the way between them.
"Are you a Bear Faunus?" he asked to the sound of Jackson facepalming rather loudly.
"Why? Is it because I like honey on everything? Is it because I'm the biggest guy here?" He growled back.
"Hey! Easy man! I was just asking. I keep trying to start conversations with you and you never say anything....you know I'm not going to stop until you give me something right?"
"Man, he is going to fucking eat you someday dude, just lay off of him!" Jackson called from the other side of their camp.
"Everyone keeps saying that! Why the fuck would Bear want to eat me?"
"You smell like candy." Bear responded quietly.
"YOU SEE! THAT KIND OF SHIT! That's why I keep asking if you're a Faunus! Who says shit like that? What are you even in here for anyway? Big guy like you could have gone pro with thrashball or something!"

Blake opened her mouth than closed it. The others looked on nervously.

They continued onward. Blake was starting to think that this might be an easy exfil when Ramirez cleared up that misconception for her. Just as they crossed a deep creek, he tripped on a root and fired off his grenade launcher into an enemy patrol behind the treeline. While his shot was lucky and killed a few of them, it also had the nasty side effect of alerting the rest of them to Panther squad's presence.
Automatic fire poured in from all directions, chewing up the ground and gouging holes in the large pines between them. Panther took cover behind an old fallen tree and tried to gain control of the situation.
>"Jackson any idea on how many are left?!" Blake yelled as several bullets missed her by inches. She flinched under the cover as she blind threw a grenade over the log.
"Can't see sarge! At least 5-10 maybe more!" He fired off a salvo from his rifle and ducked down to reload.
"WE ARE SO FUCKED! WE ARE SO FUCKED!" Ramirez screamed, rocking back and forth as more rounds pelted his location. A loud CRACK from a sniper hit the top of the log, showering them all with splinters.
>"Ramirez! Fire your launcher dammit! Your grenades got us into this mess, use them!"
"Forget it ma'am, he's pissin himself, he's not going to hear you..."

And with a gleam in his eye and a grin with far too much teeth, Bear stopped firing his gun and disappeared into the brush without another word.

The two of them began firing in the general direction of the patrol. She just hoped Bear would work his sadistic magic before they ran out of ammo...

"Sarge what did-" He was cut off by a raised finger. Bear finally came back out of the brush laden with armfuls of mags and belts of ammo, a porno mag between his teeth and a can of beer balanced on his head.
>"Hey there Bear..." Blake spoke slowly. Bear looked like he was still riding his Heist "high". "Did the heist go well?"
"Meh, they had plenty of bullets, but not much food. Plenty of Beer and porn though. Good times." He dumped the ammo to the ground grabbed the beer off his head.
"The fuck did he...?" Jackson began.
>"And now you know why he was going to be sent to prison. Come on, lets get moving and get Ramirez a new pair of pants. Bear?"
"Pants." He tossed over a dirty pair that looked like it had parted company with its previous owner rather violently.
The reached the evac point without any further encounters. Aside from Ramirez complaining constantly that the pants smelled of dirt and dried fish, it was mostly uneventful.
The bullhead touched down after spotting their green smoke and Panther squad piled aboard, grateful to be leaving this cursed valley.

As the team settled down in their seats, Bear finally removed his heavy helmet. Amidst the dirty close cropped hair, a pair of round fuzzy ears poked through. Ramirez nearly screamed and pointed.

"I never said I wasn't one man, you just never waited for me to tell you." Ramirez whipped his head around to Blake in anger.

ok history lesson. way back in the far off time of 2003, they where the first people to do
