hal best earth lantern
>Dat New God Hal at the end
Nothing will compare to Superman's 75th Anniversary video but this was a good walk down memory lane.
That's a pretty cute video
Dat Gal Gardner and New God Hal towards the end
I also enjoyed all the weird tweaks and elseworlds versions that popped up halfway through in the 90s stuff
For some reason I just can't like Green Lanterns. It's just something about the fact that their weapons are rings, something about how they treat it like magic with oaths and rituals, yet it is science and one that doesn't make sense. Maybe I am just being too thick-skinned, what are some good GL comics?
when i was a child and superfriends aired in the 90's in america. i fell in love with green lantern. green was my favorite color and he had a great costume.
then while living in italy with non english speaking grand parents during summers, i found random Parallax issues and was translating them all summer and for years. I loved the update, as well as Kyles first costume. (i had a kyle toy from this odd extreme style JL action figure line, i think Darkseid and a few JL members were part of it).
Does anyone know this JL special that had Starro, and as a side story had Parallax hal on a planet alone in solitude? Or was that some weird italian published comic having pieces of JLA and Final Night? It was great.
Other memories: GL era when the Guardians introduced super guardians that were all big and burly and had Guy Gardener costumes (think they were robots).
-as a child trying to figure out who this red head jerk off in a green lantern euro style vest (guy)
-why was Hal missing and the only GL toy Kyle in the 90s? was this a redesign like when child me thought Azbats was an irredeemable Bruce, having trouble reading italian comics
and lastly high school, freshman year. GL: Rebirth came out, and I was HIGH on John's Flash, and JSA and had the Flash/JSA build up issues showing problems with Hal Spectre.
John's GL is IMO one of the greatest runs of all time. Loathe what happened with Relic etc forward. Even John's era GLC/Emerald Warriors was acceptable (GLC great made me love Tomasi and Gleason)
Hell yeah! Posting my favorite GL. You can like any of the other lanterns, but Guy will always be my favorite.
Happy Birthday you amazing cunt.

I honestly thought they had all forgotten about that.

Thanks DC.
>Hal shows up in 1959
He's as old as my dad.
>>77595135
Thank you for improving the quality of my life by leaps and bounds, Hal.
>>77595898
Hal got two birthday threads in February!
I wisht he game didn't die the way it did, because it had really nice other universe versions of Characters.
>Haunted by the fiery destruction of civilization, Atomic Green Lantern lives his final days to restore hope to Earth.
>Hal Jordan was desperately searching ruins for survivors when his ring mysteriously deactivated. His construct shattered, dropping several tons of overhead rubble. He awoke in a makeshift clinic to find his right arm amputated and his ring embedded in his chest. Weeks later a shadowy figure offered to restore Hal's depowered ring using a new radioactive isotope. He agreed without question, but the cost was great: a briefer and more painful existence.
>Forming a construct arm as replacement for his amputation, Atomic Green Lantern melts his enemies with deadly radiation and explosive brute force.
>>77596070
Why are you so fucking obsessed with that shitty game? Do you really need to bring that shit up everywhere you go?
Why was Green Lantern the only book to avoid a reboot in 2011?
>>77596133
Because Johns wanted to finish something he was plaining ever since Hal came back
>>77596070
Best version was the Light Knight Hal
>>77596177
Sir Harold from the Arcane Earth, you mean?
>>77596094
Get fucked autist.
>>77596094
???
no one ever mentions infinite crisis here, and its ok to like alternate universe versions of characters
>>77596177
Favorite moment? Sinestro Corps War, when people of Coast City refuse to leave.
And Darkseid War one-shot, King is genius.
Favorite Lantern is Hal, followed by Guy and Two-Six.
>>77596070
Personal favorite of mine was SoCal Hal. Truly, an embodiment of grace.
>>77596246
Yeah, him
>>77596269
>Favorite momentThe culmination of 20 issues worth of background hints and Kyle and Neros fight over the Ion power in the sun
Shit was neat.

>>77596482
You wish you'd be blessed enough to have Hal's burgers.
>>77596524
The Lantern from the planet where he's the only member of his race and reproduces by jumping into a fucking volcano and having a baby form out of it or something. Shit was fucking bonkers.

Best green lantern
>>77596584
G'Nort is one of the only lanterns to actually be represented a lot though. He was just recently in Larfleeze and was a part of JLI for a long time.I fucking hated him when he started showing up in Guys book
Compare that to someone like the Apokolips lanterns who only returned to be turned into Alpha Lanterns.

Although E2S ruined any celebration we should be having
>>77595540
did you enjoy the recent Darkseid war: Gl story? I thought it was the best GL book since the grandmaster himself stepped down.
Post your favorite GL cover.
>>77597142
The entire issue is just Kyle wondering if Superman is dicking around with him or not and it's hilarious.
Posting Hal taking on the rest of the JLA. Awesome scene. Batfags please stay away.
>>77597263
>Hal
But that's good ole Tom Kalmaku doing all the workeven if Jordan Jr. is a ring construct
>>77597333
eh same difference, hal could probably pull it off.
>>77595135
Fave moments, New Frontier, Sinestro Corps War, Rebirth, some of the issues from the Engelhart and Wolfman runs, GL/Superman, even some of the Hal moments in Justice League 3000, and just to echo everyone else's praise for Darkseid War: GL.
Always wanted to see Kurt Busiek or Darwyn Cooke come and do a proper long GL run but would now really like King to.
>>77595135
>>77597142
No other cover ever has filled me with such joy.
>>77595135
Man, the GL's are just so much fun to read. Been re-reading everything since Rebirth and it's just as awesome as it was the first time.
I also brought a set of the Blackest Night plastic rings off ebay. Love the damn things so much. Been swapping the color out every few days.
>>77597333
He's following Hal's instructions though, it counts
>>77595455
I recall a panel where Hawkman is saying "why are you saying this is science when it's clearly magic??" to Hal
Johns run is great (especially Sinestro Corps War), New Frontier and Justice are good Hal pieces, Mosaic was a cool but weird John book
Is it just the ring stuff you have a beef with?
>>77595455
Dream himself, aka The Sandman, called them "wishing rings".
They are a kind of science-magic hybrid. So far advanced on the tech scale that they're literally manipulating the universe the same way as magic does.
>>77597998
>Dream telling Kyle to stop feeling so inadequate about himself compared to Hal
>>77595455
>>77595540
I mean, it's a pretty large drop after Johns' run, but I feel like Venditti's run got better after the Relic arc was over. I liked the Durlan War, and most of the really B.S. stuff (rings draining energy and Carol keking him) was ignored or shoved off to New Guardians (which I really do loathe).
did any of you like lost army
the saiz art was great but I thought it was pretty shitty
>>77597263
>>77597272
>>77597293
>>77597304
Where is this from?
>>77598086
I thought it was okay. Atleast better than Venditti's GL book.
>>77598086
it was okay. Better than 85% of books DC was putting out at the time.
That's the thing about GL. It's almost always been above the average. Even the shittier runs have been above the standard books DC churns out.
They're entertaining, above all.
>>77598130
Last Will and Testament of Hal Jordan.
>>77597201
Is that when he became ION and superman was jelly, and for some weird reason batman was not paranoid?
>>77598086
I thought it was pretty meh and Saiz's art wasn't at his best
And I hope John seeing Hal at the end doesn't turn into a big deal
>>77598323
>And I hope John seeing Hal at the end doesn't turn into a big deal
wouldn't surprise me if edge of oblivion leads into some crossover dealing with it
>>77598308
Yea, Kyle had been going around helping out places and Superman was telling him to cool his jets. Kyle just thinks he's fucking with him.
do you think venditti will ever let go
I was hoping for 50 to get a creative team change but doesn't seems like it'll happen
>>77598130
I believe it's green lantern rebirth
>>77598443
Sorry, was wrong.
>>77598275
>>77598440
His sales aren't bad so I don't see a reason why they would replace him. Just get rid of Tan and bring on any of the fill-ins they've had, they are all better than him.
>>77598341
I'm pretty sure once Edge of Oblivion ends there's going to be more GLC vs Renegade Hal nonsense
>>77598501
they're using coccolo now but if it has that horrible colorist from the last time it won't be any better than tan
>>77596524
simon baz in 10 years
>>77598601
Coccolo is only on for 47-49, I assume so Tan can draw all of #50 which I think is supposed to be oversize
I like Coccolo's art and he's probably the best the GL book has looked in like 15 issues so that's nice at least
>>77595135
Isn't it Alan's anniversary and not Hal and the whole GLC concept? I'm pretty sure that was Silver age stuff.
>>77598733
Yeah it is Alan's 75th anniversary
Although I thought his debut was in July 1940 so I don't know why they're doing it in November but who's counting
Hal is basically the face of the franchise and the GLC is a thing people like so they're celebrating ALL GL stuff instead of just Alan
>tfw Alan was only on two variants celebrating his debut
Mfw none of you poozers post Kilowog.
>>77596524
Most of the alien lanterns had a much more interesting concept and design than John, but they keep pushing John for diversity and due to the cartoon.
>>77599112
>>77598606
More like Simon Baz less than a year after his introduction
At least he got to show up for a few panels in the last Lost Army

that was pretty badass
>I wrote the book on willpower
Hal is my favorite lantern but Sinestro and Alan Scott tie for second, I love Alan so much
I recently got into green lantern, so I have only been reading what was at my local library, first 5 volumes of new 52 green lantern and 2 volumes of blackest night
Any good old green lantern comics ?
>>77602465
finished darkseid war tie in. omg it was so fucking good, best tie in.
wow. not even trying to hivemind. just wow.
wish Lighray Jordan was around in JL's next issue rather then gone already.
what is it with overpowered awesome GL characters getting cut down? Ion Kyle 2 times? Starheart Sentinel? Parallax Hal OG? SODOM YAT The bad ass of prophecy? im probs missing more. add White Lantern Kyle.
Green Lanterns are asleep, post Sinestro
>>77602897
>Any good old green lantern comics ?
nothing you'd find at the library, pre-Johns Green Lantern is woefully under-collected
If you're down for looking up scans or whatever though you should tackle Johns' pre-new 52 run
Gerard Jones' GL was pretty cool, as was Mosiac and Guy Gardner/Warrior were really fun in a 90sy way
Bronze Age GL was pretty sweet too, I liked Marv Wolfman's run a lot but since it came between O'Neil and Wein it ended up kind of underrated
Silver Age GL is incredibly delightful
>>77602815
ugh GL anons are on fire tonight. love yall. havent seen that page in a decade and just ugh wow.
>>77603178
>pre-Johns Green Lantern is woefully under-collected
I think it's because a lot of it was just really bad. For a long time, GL was a B-list or even C-list hero despite being a JL founder.
>>77603126
I liked the ending. To me it's such a hal move to give up the god power to tough it out on his own, kind of like not taking his ring when he flies.
if your trying to read GL you just read the flash issues with Hal specter, then JSA's Hal Specter most importantly. then you go GL: Rebirth --> new 52 johns GL ending. its like maybe 70 issues-90 issues? The GL Corps series that ran concurrent was amazing for a 2nd tier book. So enjoyable.
Geoff John's really put a stamp on GL in a big way. From Alan in JSA to reviving Hal and the GLC, to revamping the energy source and Parallax. its awesome.
>>77603278
haha. great point
>>77603297
>the GL Corps series that ran concurrent was amazing
Yeah, if you're going to read Johns GL you have to read the corps series. Thanagarian and Lizard man were the best lanterns.
>>77603126
>>77603278
I thought the ending was great, although it would have also been cool to see God Hal stick around a bit longer
>>77603212
I know GL's been cancelled twice but I've read tons and tons of it and it never seemed THAT bad? Like sure there was some middling parts here and there but nothing outright terrible
>>77603353
It would've been nice. I mean he did have the best costume of them all.
>>77603126
Technically Alan never got depowered after the Starheart, he just gave himself a weakness because subconsciously he thought he should have one
The Parallax Hal that got yoinked out of Convergence is coming back tho

>>77606095
I feel like this is how Relic should be. A "I just want to science, get the fuck away from me Lightsmiths" kinda guy
>>77606861
Yeah, this and his recent appearances are like that and it's a much better use for him than his stupid intro and Lights Out
For starters he didn't have shit for proof when he started attacking everybody and telling the Lanterns they were fucking everything up, but then everybody believed him for no reason
"I just wanna look at this wall, leave me alone yall" makes much more sense
>>77606967
>FUCKING LIGHTSMITHS GET OUT
