>didn't even make half of the wanted money

That's just embarrassing.
>>
>>77589671
That's pretty sad, but not surprising

I give the man 3 days prior to suicide / death
>>
>>77589671
Wow, how humiliating
>>
>using Kickstarter
>not a service where you at least keep what you get

damn it Bluth! You could at least have had a start!
>>
>>77589671

>nobody funded start would be an admittedly incomplete and not even fully animated teaser trailer to go around and get to solicit real money from other people with

Guys you know this was a horrible idea through and through
>>
>>77589671
holy shit poor Don Bluth

i hope he'll be okay after this
>>
What people keep forgetting is that if a KS does not make it, you get your money back.
>>
>>77590018
Pretty sure we all knew that, Sherlock
>>
Who cares, nobody's funding my cartoons either
>>
>>77590026
you're giving mankind a little too much credit there buddy

you seem to be forgetting that throwing in-app purchases at confused children is a sustainable business model for mobile gaming, just remember that
>>
So many of these failed Kickstarters have the same problem: lack of advertisement BEFORE the Kickstarter begins and lackluster advertising once it starts.

Don't just throw up the Kickstarter and then advertise and expect shit to happen. You contact all of the major online publications that might feature a story (I mean, it's Don Bluth, it's video games, it's nostalgia, it's animation, there's a lot going for it) beforehand to lock in some articles, and make sure there will be a bunch of hype right at the start. You prepare marketing material before you launch the Kickstarter so you have consistent updates to keep people hyped and let them spread the word with something new on a consistent basis. You do marketing schemes to get more promotion--"Hey, if we get x amount of backers in the next 24 hours, we'll upload this EXCLUSIVE NEVER BEFORE SEEN..." etc.
>>
>>77590051
what's your series about, cool guy
>>
Can't he do it again?
>>
>>77590069
doesn't matter, my dreams will die with me
>>
>>77590063
You'd think old-hands in the animation business would know the value of networking.
>>
>>77589671
The flaw with this KS is that you're paying a guy to create a pitch to a studio, not a short animation for you to enjoy but a pitch that has a good chance of being rejected.
>>
>>77590069
Fucking blue alien chicks in MS Paint
>>
>>77590063
Not only that, the rewards for backing should be nostalgia-oriented towards primarily, people who grew up playing the game (and hate/loving it) as well as people who grew up in the 80s and 90s with Don Bluth animation.

The rewards are almost exclusively aimed at animation students or people invested in Don Bluth animation past the point of "oh shit, I remember Fieval!" The only rewards related to Dragon's Lair itself are the expensive ones, unless you count the $15 digital postcards, but those are just sad. Why not mini posters of Daphne in her bubble? Why not a shirt with some quip about all the dollars you spent on the game? Etc etc, the base rewards should be somehow related to the game and not technical animation.

I truly, truly hope that Bluth&co will start from scratch with a better campaign after this. (Unless by some miracle they do get funded in these last 5 days.) I understand their passion for animation leads them to focus on, well, animation (both for marketing and the rewards) but that's not what gets people hooked, that's not what gets people's money. Take advantage of nostalgia, damn it! It's a billion dollar industry for a reason.
>>
>>77590091
Have you watched the Q&A? It's on the man's Facebook. They said if this fails they will try something else until they make it. They are dead-set to make Dragon's Lair movie this time.
>>
>>77589671
The pitch video is kind of lackluster. It's mostly old previews.
>>
>>77590289
It was originally something else; they changed it by popular demand.
>>
>>77589671
good
>>
I didn't even know this was a thing until I saw the recent NC commercials video on youtube that mentioned it. I would have donated if I knew sooner really.

Apparently, a lot of people in the 80s and 90s. Also, Don himself. He wanted to make it since 1982.

This.

You're not Kickstarting the film. You're Kickstarting a PITCH.

>>
What's with all the kickstarter advertising on /co/ lately?
>>
>>77590804
>le shille

>>
>>77589968
not really, considering he was able to get 2500 people to give him 200,000$(i know they get it back, but it's the thought that counts)

can you claim that you were able to make 2500 people give you 200,000$ for just a little animation?
>>
>>77589671

No one cares for his misogynist shit
>>
>>77591881
>misogynist
i don't think you know what that word means
>>
>>77591900

His work exploits the damsel trope shamelessly. That shit won't fly in 2015.
>>
>>77591900
Why. Did. You. Reply.
>>
>>77589671

It had many problems. It's a pitch, this move should be made earlier. Like 10 years earlier. Nowadays a movie like that would be ostracized. I don't see it happening. Not now, not ever.
>>
>>77591976
That and he's been out of the game for over a decade. That doesn't help things.
>>
>>77589671

Space Ace was better
>>
>>77592029
As a game, yes.

But Space Ace is not getting a movie, sadly.
>>
>>77591871
>money I've raised for my non existent animation: $0

>>
He had to appeal to Doug Fucking Walker in a desperate attempt to bring in more crowdfunding.

I mean, c'mon we all know those internet celebs have the greatest track record with their crowdfunding projects?
>>
Even if he somehow had the budget, I doubt he'd finish it in time. Just look at the guy, death will make him a visit any second now. This is just sad.
>>
>>77592087

Man, that was just pathetic.
>>
>>77592087
>I said it on the Internet therefore it is true
Have you considered it was DOUG who contacted him?
>>
I've never played Dragon's lair, would it work as a movie?
>>
>>77592055

The narrative was better too
>>
>>77592117
/co/ hates Doug because he spouts angry bullshit and gets paid for it and they don't.
>>
>>77591923
If the movie follows the plot of the comic at all, then Daphne will be a strong independent womyn who only acts like a bimbo due to magical dragon fuckery.

Remember: if you don't broadcast your crowdfunding everywhere and/or you don't bitch about hot-button liberal issues keeping you from success, you'll never make a crowdfunding goal nowadays. Thanks, Gen Zed and Indivisible!
>>
I'd be happy if Bluth never made another film tbqh senpai.

>>
>>77590804
/tg/ has a boner for Kickstarter, and there's been a lot of cross board traffic.

Erma comics on /tg/ too.
>>
>>77592126
It invented quicktime events.
But we fed it quarters $10 at a time because in the age of black screens and characters in 8 bit, it was a fucking cartoon. Visuals wouldn't be that good in actual rendering until about 2005. This was the mid 80's.

Plus, the Amiga generation of the early 90's got the only good port.

But yeah, as a cartoon that had button inputs it would.

Watch this playthrough of the second game and decide for yourself.

https://youtu.be/-lwOzgFJxaQ
>>
How is he planning on making a "big screen" movie with only 500K?

Also Dragon's Lair was already a movie
>>
>>77593574
He makes a segment of the movie, and uses it along with proof people want to see it to get funding for the rest.
>>
>>77589998
>>77590786

Oh yeah, remember the last one of those?
>>
>>77593605
They still plan on making that.
It was also worth it just for that segment.
>>
>>77593717
That segment was out before it was funded.
>>
Even Bluth knows it ain't gonna fly, because he already took a nose dive and appeared in NC's video to get autistic crowdfunding.
>>
>>77593829
Should have done AVGN, or Screen Junkies.
>>
Speaking of, what's up with that The Goons movie kickstarter? I heard it got funded awhile back, but that's all I heard since.
>>
Meh, typical. And here I was hoping we where finally going to get a new traditionally animated film. Kids these days with their CGi filth. How am I suppose to fap to Disney princesses if they don't look like they're wearing lipstick?
>>
>>77593574
He will animate 10 minutes, and show it to investors.
>>
>>77593938
How the fuck did people do these things before mooching off their fans?
>>
>>77593829
"Autistic" means "thing I don't like".

Therefore...

Appeared in NC's video to get thing I don't like crowdfunding.
>>
>>77593946
They didn't. They were mooching off the producers, who in turn censored the shit out of the script.
>>
>>77593174
>bath
hel-lo. is that happening in this one?
>>
>>77589933
>Big Dragon Ass
>Big Dragon Tits
>Human Head/Arms
Oh okay.
>>
>>77593954
The glossary is not quite that straightforward. It's more like "Appeared in NC's video to get crowdfunding for a thing I don't like."
>>
So if a Kickstarter fails, no one gets their rewards because we all get refunded, right? I can donate for the $10,000 reward, but unless we're all donating for that reward, no dice, huh?

If I send a check to Don Bluth for $600,000, will he animate my dream cartoon for me?
>>
>>77595591
If no one gets the physical rewards, that mean the physical rewards still exist, to be given away some other way.
>>
Don Bluth never made a good movie anyway.
>>
>>77593103

The MST3K kickstarter reached over 2 million.
>>
>>77592029
It was far out
>>
>>77593954
No. NC fans are literally autists, like, Sonic bad.
>>
The Nostalgia Critic appearance was his last hope.
>>
>>77590786
Fuck this, really. There should be rules about this, and it's fucked up that Kickstarter is slowly becoming a corporate platform to gauge interest about cash grabs rather than a place where nobodies can get help on a worthwhile project.
>>
>>77597562
>people who like what I don't like are autists terrorists
News at 11.
>>
>>77590063
I honestly am only now finding out about this.
>>
Last time I checked, it was 209. Not it's 217.
>>
>>77590063
This, honestly.
This is the first time I've heard of it, what the fuck?
