And Han mentions a few pages later in the comic he's nearly cut his face off while using the saber, and Leia mentions she's got pretty bad handling of it as well. The only reason the characters aren't murdered is because of an EMP that shut down TIE pilots' weapons, making them somewhat easy targets (although Luke and Han were still getting surrounded).

Just like Witwer said on the recent stream, the events were to be taken as having happened but not to the degree of craziness a video game puts them at since it was a "tall tale" of the events that actually occurred. Like instead of the Star Destroyer being pulled down the a helmsman is choked which leads to it crashing.
People getting upset over Vader being defeated were always silly, this was someone trained by Vader himself in Sith tradition, thus making him a perfect candidate to defeat Vader in fitting with their ways. Vader instigating the Rebellion as a way to distract Palpatine and keep him busy with the conflict so that he could make his moves and take over for himself that people complain about was EXACTLY WHAT PALPATINE DID so it was hardly stupid or silly.
If you didn't like TFU you failed yourself and Star Wars, but you can be educated so everything is fine in the end.
