The point of losing the powers and deciding not to keep them was to show that Iop had finally learned his lesson about past mistakes and got his priorities in order. Personal reasons for not liking the ovas:
They're starting up another love drama with Yugo and Amalia. This will likely get worse in s3.
Every location seems very sparsely populated, even areas that should be full of people. It felt like they were struggling to get enough money to animate the main characters, let alone side-characters. It felt "off" compared to the livelier crowd scenes from the main series.
Everyone isa god or demigod or related to one. Seriously, it feels like there's few characters left who don't have adivine heritage. Also, it brought the middle of the second episode to a screeching halt once it was revealed.
Yugo-angst outta nowhere. Which literally leads toEliatrope juggalo-race. Though this is more a problem for the game, rather than the show.

It's always been like this. You can't maintain two or more periods of the same setting without adding stuff retroactively. If they didn't, there could never be anything new in Dofus because it would affect Wakfu's timeline.
It's not like, in-universe, they never existed and suddenly they pop up at various points in time (unlike Eliotropes). You just have to accept that we've never heard about them before but they "were there" as far as the setting is concerned. References to them are going to surface progressively until it feels like they were there from the start.

It was pretty obvious, but a statue and the scars on some of the Huppermages's faces in the new Dofus beta shows that Julith is actually a huppermage. Most likely an important Brakmar huppermage.
Huppermages's fighting mechanic in Dofus is pretty interesting, I'm eager to see how they'll work in the Wakfu MMO.
In Dofus, they can use spells of all 4 elements, and they'll leave an elemental mark where they hit (or on whom they hit).
If the mark is on the floor, they can invoke something that'll help placing. If the mark is on someone, the can use a spell of another element on them to get a secondary effect (and then the mark will disappear).
Some spells can let you put more than two elemental marks on the enemy, and many spells can get a big bonus depending on how many elemental marks there are on the field.

The first hints happened mid-season 1.
