They still do it. In Bojack, Simpsons, and Family Guy. It's still usually a sign that a show was so bad it needs Hollywood people just to kill time. Well Bojack is an exception since it literally takes place in Hollywoo. Watch Tiny Toons and Animanics again. That stuff was dated and cringe DURING the time it aired.
The Seinfeld Looney Tunes Show and Wabbit kinda do that. But they suck. I have no idea why anybody would enjoy a show that pointlessly namedrops celebrities unless you are some housewife with too much time on her hands.
