I'm borderline a weeaboo myself, so I probably would have jumped at the chance to do this, if I had the opportunity. It seems like it would be a cool thing to do regardless of even if you were or not, just for the experience, but the truth is a lot of people who do go over there are. And sometimes, once they've been exposed to the source for so long, their love for all things Japanese ends up dissipating once the way Japan "really is" sinks in. ("Really is" as in "Not like an anime.")
