Because at the end of Shattered Empire Luke gave one of the Jedi Temple tree they retrieved from the Empire to Poe's mom so that it could grow wherever her and her family would settle. And we know/guess that these trees are linked to the Force since Luke went out of his way to get them and were kept by the Emperor who seemed to have an interest in them. So if everything didn't go to shit after they settled, Poe is likely to have grown near this same tree which seem linked to the Force. Could that make someone Force sensitive ? Yeah I think I'm only going to like the effects and the lore of the movie (it bringing the First Order, etc to the plate). The story however sounds pretty shit. I think we already see that sister is gonna be the brains and brother the brawn. That aside I was kind of surprise by how 'competitive' they are. Maybe it's because they are on a dark side diet with a side of sith ideals though. Would be interesting to see if that is somehow connected to the Knights of Ren later. Would make sense I guess. Otherwise there are a bunch of dark side force user factions popping up out of nowhere and in the OT people were still incredulous/ignorant about the force, when apparently the Imperium used force users all over the place.

But there's no written rule that says it has to be. Frankly given the dearth of action cartoons these days I'm really quite satisfied with Rebels on the whole, some corny humor targeted at kids (And yes I know kids aren't dumb all around but don't try and tell me you didn't have some shitty taste as a kid) isn't enough to drag the show down altogether. in my eyes. It still delivers on most of the appropriate Star Wars beats.
It's just a cartoon. If you're a cartoon enthusiast I'm sure there are plenty of better cartoons for you to seek out, enjoy, and have wonderful discourse over.

I'll be honest, I've watched shows that have had rather weak first or even second seasons. Seeing as Rebels is no doubt going to go for a third, I don't think I'm willing to write it off yet. It does have a lot of material to work with at any rate so I am a little hopeful.
