Going into crack theory territory, the reason Cinder and co are making note of everyone's semblances isn't just getting an advantage over them in a fight, but also to find the person with Jaune's semblance.

GIVEN:
Weiss specializes in ice attacks, who is still in school. And she has an older sister, named 'Winter', who also uses ice/snow.
Cinder Fall specializes in fire attacks, and she's also in the same school.
THEREFORE:
Mathematically, it should have been safe to conclude that she has an older sister who also uses fire/lava, who's name would have been 'Summer'.
But no, rubies and roses somehow have more in common with summer. Roses don't even bloom in the summer time. 'Ruby Rose' rolls of the tongue fine, but 'Summer Rose'? "Some-Are-Rose"? It sounds weird because you have to pronounce the R twice. And plus they don't even start with the same letter! What. Why. Now we wasted 'Summer' on her, when she could have been called 'Red' or 'Crimson' or something else that matched.

I just don't think the writers have what it takes to kill of a major character, or they fell into the trapping that I sometimes do when writing: Every major character introduced was created with a key role in mind that's important throughout the story, and it feels cheap to introduce people just to kill them off or to only kill off minor characters.

I figure that was the color Nazi's whole thing. doing all the crazy science shit you see Nazi doing in books and movies.
one of their better projects was to brainwash soldiers and have them gain all the same semblance, one that would make them all more powerful the more blood they drank since it would be readily available in a battle field. it technically failed due to the soldiers all getting powered up in different ways, some get shadow powers others illusions some turning into werewolves all powered by blood and aura.
but over all most would-be semblance engineers find it impossible to get just the right semblance you want due to the many factors that go into their forming and have to control a persons whole life to get what you want from the place they grow up in to the people they meet to they very things they think.

Halo 3's SMG is the best weapon in the entire series of Halo games. No exaggeration. It looks and sounds the most aesthetic of all the weapons so far, is more reliable than an assault rifle, and is more multi-purpose. Halo 5's SMG has potential, but they need to remove that ugly reflex site first, and then we can talk about it.
