Don't you mean Hitball?
>>
>>77541116
>>77541153
But SCIENCE is the biggest draw to the comic.
Then Zimmyworld.

More forest plots are Hitball Namek.
>>
>>77540879
good god the pacing of this webcomic is shit. it is almost as bad as el goonish shive or misfile or dresden codak. Tom needs an editor.
>>
>>77541153
Don't YOU mean Namekball?
>>
>>77540879
Why doesn't Tom Siddell get a job at like Marvel? I mean, th Dr McNinja guy did. And Kate Leth and Noelle Stevenson did. And Kate Beaton did a little stuff.
I could see him working on a Faiza book.
>>
>>77541202
the pacing isn't the problem
the problem, like all webcomics, is content dispersal
one page every other day is a shitty system that only webcomic artists have adopted, which is based on strip-format newspaper comics, so it doesn't even make much sense
>>
So how's she gonna react when she realizes her friendo here has been preaching her as the messiah?
>>
>>77541266
Why would he? He's set for life making a comic all his own for $6k a month.
>>
>>77541202
I wish this was like El Goonish Shive. Then Kat would invent a raygun that turns boys into sexy women.

ahe could also turn BunnyBoy into a girl and all the forest animals who were forced to become males
>>
>>77541266
He should go to DC and work with Max Landis
>>
>>77541298
He could make that much money (maybe more) if he succeeds at Marvel.
Plus it would gain him more fans and readers to discover him. His other work will get more spotlight. And maybe even tv and movie people might want to adapt his stuff.
>>
>>77541202

THIS!!!!!!!! Max Landis is the best writer of this decade. Max Landis wrote the blockbuster Chronicle and the comfy comic American Alien. Max Landis would be the perfect person for Tom to team up with. And it's not like Max Lanids would mind. Max Landis loves writing. He has written tons of scripts and loves working with other people. He's been on so many Internet talks shows. Tom and Max Landis would get along great.
>>

>>
>>77541202
Woops, you're in the wrong thread. The webcomic you're looking for updates tuesdays and fridays, with many, many impromptu breaks every so often.
>>
>>77541421
I agree unironically
American alien really hit me in the feels
>My son can fly

>>
>>77541478
I can understand DC but what's wrong with Marvel?
It's not like they are going to force Tom to stick his dick in a dead pig.
Plenty of webcomic people work for marvel. It's not like anyone would think less of him. He has so much to gain.
>>
>>77541478
But marvel is awesome, why not?
>>
>>77541524
Maybe he prefers to work on his own projects and makes enough money/fame that way.
>>
>>77541202
I don't know, Gunnerkrigg is the only webcomic that I enjoy completely without any kind of criticism.
You can tell the author actually puts a lot of effort into it. My favorite part of the comic is the friendship between Annie and Kat, and there hasn't been a lot about that for a while so there's that?
>>
>>77541524
>>77541535
Marvel keks itself out so that Disney can make movies, even--sometimes especially--when what they let molest and rape the properties in orifices not meant to receive massive stranger cock ends up not resembling the movie at all. And if Disney can't make movies, Marvel flagellates itself for failing the great Disney overlords.
>>
>>77541569
>keks
Goddamn it. But kekolding is the best description of what they do to their properties if they think they can make a movie out of it!
>>
>>77541421
max landis really is the new alan moore
>>
>>77541559
Who says he won't get that at Marvel? I mean, they let the artist on Secret Wars take his time at his pace and delayed the even for him. What makes you think Tom wouldn't get good treatment?
>>
>>77541581
>kekolding
Well well well.
>>
>>77541524
>I can understand DC but what's wrong with Marvel
You realize that Marvel is the home of shitty editorial right now, right? If you want creative freedom, to make something cool, but don't mind having everything you make belong to a company in exchange for a guaranteed market, then DC is the place to go.
>>
>>77541569
what of tom makes a new original marvel character that gets his own mcu movie? then he would rack up the fame
>>
>>77541524
>>77541535
Marvel and DC are the exact same pit of sadness and despair.

When you go to work for them, you don't get to write your favorite characters, because someone else already has dibs. Instead you get assigned to some character that you've never heard of (and that you don't give a shit about), because that's who the editorial department has decided to push right now.

If you're lucky then your editor will let you come up with your own story ideas and submit them for approval. If you're unlucky then your editor secretly wishes that they could be a writer too, so they'll tell you what to write. Oh, and when Event Season rolls around, throw out your scripts because the editors will tell you what to write anyway.

Don't expect to do any networking or make any friends, because you're not supposed to have any communication without your editor's approval. In fact, you're not supposed to have any direct contact with your artist, and instead you should send all messages to them through the editor.

Oh, oops, you must have accidentally pissed off someone important, so you're fired. And the fans are angry at you because your storyline is unfinished.

Better for Tom to avoid that drama and to stay independent of Warner Bros and Disney.
>>
>>77541616
DC also has a guy that is molesting women. also, I heard from bleedingcool that they were changing their mind and going back to meat and potatoes editorial.
>>
>>77541187
From a STEM guy's point of view, I feel like the science is the weaker bit of GC. I have to suspend A LOT of disbelief to believe that a teenage gypsy dyke can be THAT good at bio-robotics. Like, the science checks out a bit (he really tries, as with this panel), but no one's that smart except for Mary Sue.

Fleshed out magical systems and unpredictable divine temperaments, however, I can accept more easily.
>>
>>77541642
>a guy that is molesting women
good thing that Tom:
A. can telecommute
B. is not a woman

I have seen no evidence for the editorial change

>>
>>77541731
Kamala Khan is pretty popular. I could see her getting her own movie. And the Thor movies love Jane Foster, I could see her lifting Thor's hammer some time down the line. And since Disney can now make Spidey movies, they can make a Miles Morale or Spider-Gwen movie.
>>
>>77541786
Yeah, it's totally crazy that a brand-new fresh-off-the-press only-just-recently-created character like Jane Foster has gotten so big so fast.

>he's still shitposting in Gunnerkrigg threads
>>
>>77541819
I'm just saying that if Marvel Studios is willing to make movies for Captain Marvel and the Inhumans, it wouldn't surprise me if they decide to make movies (or tv shows) based off other heroes. I think Miles and Miss Marvel have a chance. Why not a original character that Tom creates?
>>
>>77541912
who?
>>
>>77541786
>>77541819
I mean, the general audience seems to love "I'll give way and surrender because you're a woman" and "FEMINIST PAWNCH" pretty well.

Though the prospect of Natalie Portwoman playing a female Thor is pretty enticing if they play cards right.
>>
>>77541916
Because seeing your character in a Marvel or DC movie means that they're not your character. You don't own them, you don't decide how their story develops, you can't raise any objection when they're raped or killed off to make some bad guy look cool.

Maybe Tom cares about retaining control of his creations more than he cares about seeing them in a movie.

>>

Kat's powers are way better than archery or chatting with chipmunks, which makes her Mary Sueish.
>>
>>77541651
>>77542034
Kat doesn't have mere "powers", she was retroactively made into a technology goddess by the worship of the robots. Her state is still progressing but that is ultimately what she not only already is, but was and will be.
>>
>>77541632
That scenario has literally never happened to a writer that wasn't also a dick.

I don't know shit about cape comic companies like marvel - why the fuck would Tom possibly want to stop working on his own story to make stories about superheroes or whatever? Does he like superheroes?
>>
>>77542876
I thought it was implied she sort of did have powers when she looked at that vent and easily envisioned all the complicated parts in it
>>
>>77541282
The issue is that in order to retain readers a webcomic needs to update on the regular. Parcelling out the story in chapter sized chunks would make it more readable but would likely be a big hit to his readership numbers.
>>
>>77542043
Unless you're Neil Gaiman for some reason. He gets to do whatever he fucking wants.
>>
So, robot is going to send signals to his arm's bio-matter to make it grow until he becomes a horrible cthulhu abomination, right?

>>
>>77542876
>retroactively made into a technology goddess by the worship of the robots
Fanfiction much?
>>
>>77541153
My god, I did the math and Hitball is more than the 13.5% of the comic, with Chapter 5 being already the 20% of Paranatural.
>>
>>77543773
have you even read the comic? You're straight up told that's exactly how it works.

Coyote explains it all. He is a God in the eyes of man. And when he became a God, he was always a God. It's how he was at the beginning of time even though he never existed then.
>>
>>77544868
And it giving powers to Kat is just your headcanon. Wouldn't it be the same if I said that Paz can talk to animals only because the rats worship her?
>>
>>77545146
Everyone worships Paz.
>>
I don't get it, why are Gunnerkrigg threads so awful? Most other webcomic threads (except threads for shitty webcomics which are specifically made to shit on them) are alright. What is it about this webcomic that attracts the shitposters?
>>
>>77545146
>Coyote having powers is just headcannon

This, I also feel like the writing has kind of gone down a little bit.

I can't put it in words, but it doesn't have the same feeling as the early chapters.

I still love Tom and early GC, but it's just not for me anymore.
>>
>>77545397
No, but the mental gymnastics that you have to do to justify that Kat powers come from the robots worshipping her are indeed. We're not talking about Coyote here.
>>
>>77544868
>>77544868
but it begs the question, do robots have the same kind of conciousness that man has?
do robots have a "mind" that can be in touch with the ether as to create gods? and if that is so then what determines what can and cant manipulate ether? what makes innert matter concious enough to manipulate the world through belief?
>>
>>77541632
I'd love to see Tom write or draw a miniseries for Dark Horse.

He'd fit in perfectly.
>>
>>77545583
>>77545583
That is one of the problems. But keep in mind the court runs experiments with robot manned stations that literally suck up the ether and do God knows what with it. Also we do know that the court is trying to create it's own God.
>>
>>77545583
Nobody knows the nitty-gritty of details. These I think are the only concrete things we know:
>"souls" go into the ether
>belief shapes the ether
Now whether the two are related is another question altogether.
>But are robots in touch with the ether?
I'd say so. They started out as magical borderline golems, after all.
>>
Jones was created in human form before humans (or any earthen life) even existed. That's proof enough that faith-given power can be given retrospectively.

So even if the robots at present don't have the ether pull to make Kat a goddess, their future generations and their belief more than likely do.
>>
It'd be really easy to rape Kat. Rape her right in the butt.

Frankly I don't believe that the robots are "science" robots, Kat is just handwaving problems away with magic. It might be a subconscious thing that she doesn't even realize herself, but what she is doing is yet another type of magic, the robots are way too advanced to be based solely on tech.
