A miniseries would be good, I think. The premise feels like something that could be explored for several episodes, but also risks retreading the same ground if left for too long. Kinda like some comedies. Short-but-sweet can often leave a bigger impact.

I think one thing that could help that show would be if the titular character was fully aware that he was probably in over his head, rather than being completely oblivious to the gravity of his situation. The latter can quickly wear out its welcome, but the former can actively challenge the character and potentially be interesting to watch.

I like the concept, but it needs a lot of polishing.
Mostly it would need to focus more on the psychological aspect.
Party Island is way too unfocused in it's design, instead the show should take put more emphasis on it representing the secret wishes of the protagonist, even if she wants to suppress them. Kind of like a more expansive Inside Out.
Who knows, maybe that's already planned and the pilot just doesn't show it off, if I had to judge how SU would turn out from the pilot alone I wouldn't have guessed either what would happen (though it always had that "Stuff is going on in the background" feeling that Twelve Forever is lacking).
So yeah, it should be reworked but I would still be interested in how it turns out. We simply need more shows. I don't care how good they are as long as they are just mediocre but we simply need a bigger number of shows to allow for more diverse storytelling.
